Arsenal delivered one of the greatest European nights in the club's history by routing Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
Here, the PA news agency looks at five other memorable Gunners encounters in continental action.
Arsenal 3 Anderlecht 0 – 1970
The first of Arsenal's two European trophies came in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, the precursor to the UEFA Cup.
They won 3-0 in the second leg of the final at Highbury to overcome a 3-1 deficit from the opening encounter.
Goals from Eddie Kelly, John Radford and Jon Sammels secured the club's first silverware for 17 years.
Arsenal 1 Parma 0 – 1994
The Gunners lifted the Cup Winners' Cup, which was later abolished in 1999, after Alan Smith produced a stunning finish from the edge of the area.
Parma's star-studded line-up for the showdown in Copenhagen included Tomas Brolin, Faustino Asprilla and Gianfranco Zola.
But they could not break down Arsenal's famous rearguard marshalled by Tony Adams.
Inter Milan 1 Arsenal 5 – 2003
Thierry Henry struck twice as Inter were dismantled at the San Siro.
Arsene Wenger admitted that 'not in my wildest dreams could we have predicted that sort of result'.
Freddie Ljungberg, Edu and Robert Pires were also on target in the Champions League group game to avenge their 3-0 defeat to the Italians at Highbury two months earlier.
Real Madrid 0 Arsenal 1 – 2006
The Gunners became the first English club to triumph at the Bernabeu after Henry broke the deadlock early in the second half of the last-16 Champions League clash.
Victory came in a period when Real collected superstars for fun, with David Beckham, Ronaldo, Robinho and Zinedine Zidane all starting.
Arsenal eventually lost to Barcelona in the final.
Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1 – 2011
Until Tuesday's humbling of Real Madrid, this was Arsenal's greatest European win at the Emirates Stadium.
Barcelona, having taken the lead through David Villa, fell to late goals from Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin.
However, the Spanish giants went on to win the second leg of the last-16 clash and the competition.

Airdrie hero Adam Frizzell says he's left Diamonds in a good place as he looks back on four-year spell
The club captain departed last week for Derry City Former Airdrie skipper Adam Frizzell feels he's left the club in a good place, as he looked back on his four years in the Diamond. The 27-year-old signed for League of Ireland side Derry City last week on an 18-month contract that he said was 'too good to turn down', with the side chasing a European place. Frizzell's new team are currently over halfway through their season as Scottish football prepares for the big kick-off and he believes he has left the club on strong footing. The midfielder departs with plenty of fond memories of his spell in Monklands having captained the team to a long-awaited trophy in 2023 with their SPFL Trust Trophy triumph and also promotion in the same year. Asked about his favourite moment from his spell at New Broomfield, Frizzell said: "There have been so many. The first season I went in, we were excellent. We finished second [to Cove] but we won almost every game that season. We had a really good team. "In the second year, we won promotion which was unbelievable as well. "In the third year we won the cup and the club hadn't done that in a long time. To do that as captain was a massive honour for me. "There will be a lot better players than me that don't lift a trophy in their career so it will probably be something I appreciate even more when I look back. "Last year was a bit sticky, but we got there in the end and kept the club in the division. "That was massive for me. If I thought there was a chance of moving on, I wanted to leave the club in a really good place, which I think it is. "It is a really young, exciting squad and I am looking forward to watching them this season, supporting them from afar." Frizzell feels he is making a step up by moving overseas and hopes to get a taste of Europa Conference League football with Derry next season. He said: "I got a very small taste of it [playing in Europe] when I was very young playing for Kilmarnock and we went out in the first round to a Welsh team. "That's what you dream of when you're young and to be going and pushing for Europe was a big selling point. "Not only that but I don't think it would be disrespectful in saying that it's probably a step up in general. It's a really tough league now with a lot of good players in it. It was time for me to come over and challenge myself and I'm looking forward to doing that."

Enzo Maresca drops huge bombshell as he admits every Chelsea player could leave
Enzo Maresca admits that he can't guarantee the future of any Chelsea player, with the Blues set for another busy summer transfer window both in terms of incomings and outgoings Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has revealed that there's a chance of every player leaving Stamford Bridge before the end of the summer transfer window. The Blues are currently preparing for the knockout stages of the Club World Cup in the USA, having won two and lost one of their group games. Maresca's side secured Champions League football on the final day of the Premier League season and there's expected to be less churn in the squad compared to previous summers under chairman and owner Todd Boehly. But that doesn't mean it won't be busy summer at Chelsea, with the futures of defensive duo Trevoh Chalobah and Josh Acheampong still uncertain. Chalobah, 25, was recalled from a loan spell with Crystal Palace halfway through the season and helped the Blues secure a fourth-place finish, but he's been linked with a permanent exit. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Acheampong is reportedly the subject of interest from Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund, despite the right-back signing a new long-term contract with Chelsea late last year. Quizzed on the pair's futures in west London, Maresca admitted that he can't guarantee the future of any Blues player. "In this moment all the players that are with us I don't want to lose them, but we have said many times that when the transfer window is open many things can happen, to buy a player or to sell a player," the Chelsea manager explained. "Trevoh came back to us in January, if we did a Champions League spot and top four spot it's also because of Trev, he helped us a lot. In this moment he also plays some games for us, we are happy with him. Anything can happen but not only for Trev but all 25 players in the squad." When Maresca was asked directly about reports of Newcastle and Dortmund's interest in Acheampong, he replied: "The clubs that you mentioned like Josh but we also like Josh. All the good players any club like good players. "My plan with Josh is quite clear.
