Hajiji expected to announce Gagasan Rakyat's direction for state polls tomorrow
The announcement is believed to be related to a key motion addressing the party's readiness to face the polls, which is expected to be tabled during Gagasan Rakyat's Annual General Assembly.
Hajiji, who is also the party president, is scheduled to launch the assembly.
"Yes, just wait for my speech this Sunday," he said when met after launching the Gagasan Rakyat Information Seminar in conjunction with the party's Annual General Assembly at the Sabah International
Convention Centre here yesterday.
Also present were Gagasan Rakyat deputy president Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun and information chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.
Hajiji was asked about the possibility of a major motion related to Gagasan Rakyat's direction ahead of the state polls being decided during the assembly, which begins today with wing-level meetings.
Previously, Gagasan Rakyat's partners in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition voiced support for the local-based coalition to contest the state election independently.
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), both GRS component parties, expressed their support for GRS to go solo during their recent joint convention.
Hajiji, however, has remained tight-lipped on the matter, saying only that discussions between GRS and Pakatan Harapan (PH) will be decided soon.
He had earlier mentioned the possible dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly to pave the way for state polls, with the announcement potentially being made during his speech on Sunday.
On yesterday's seminar, Hajiji said it was a gathering of information chiefs from all divisions and party levels.
"We are mobilising our machinery to explain the party's struggle and what the current government has achieved. This must be conveyed to the people," he said.
Hajiji said the seminar aimed to ensure Gagasan Rakyat leaders at all levels intensify their preparations ahead of the state polls.

Speaking during the Gagasan Rakyat AGM on Sunday, Hajiji, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman and Gagasan Rakyat President, said the incident led to deep reflection and eventually convinced him that change was needed for the sake of Sabah. He said the Unity Government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had taken Sabah's longstanding concerns seriously, particularly those related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). Hajiji stressed that GRS backs the current government because it respects Sabah's dignity and has begun to deliver on long-overdue commitments such as the devolution of powers. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : A federal leader's disdain for the proposed 'Borneo Bloc' political cooperation led Gabungan Rakyat Sabah into supporting Anwar Ibrahim's formation of the unity government after the 2022 general election, GRS chairman Hajiji Noor said today. Speaking at the annual convention of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, he said a former federal leader, whom he did not name, had dismissed the idea of Bornean cooperation. 'I was with Masidi Manjun and Jeffrey Kitingan in a meeting with a big leader over there (in Peninsular Malaysia) at the time. The person said they were the masters. He did not like the Borneo Bloc. He did not want us to share our experiences and stories with our neighbouring state of Sarawak,' he said. 'I was shocked by his words. I thought about them for a long time. What did they mean? What was his intent? As I thought about it, I lost heart (tawar hati) in these people,' he said in a video of his speech published on Facebook by Sabah Media. Hajiji said it was after much thought that he finally decided that GRS would support the unity government being formed by Anwar. Since then, he said Anwar's government 'has listened to our voices, and we have been treated well', and reiterated that GRS remained in support of the prime minister. Hajiji said many of Sabah's demands under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 were approved by Anwar, as opposed to previous leaders who found difficulty in devolving power to the state. 'So what are we hoping for? If the unity government is good for our state, why shouldn't we support it?' he said. In March, deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof said the unity government had successfully resolved nine key claims related to MA63, including power to regulate gas supply in Sabah, the administration of the judiciary in Sabah and Sarawak, and guidelines on land reserved for federal purposes in the two states.

GRS Reaffirms Support For MADANI Government- Hajiji
KOTA KINABALU, July 27 (Bernama) -- Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) reaffirms its support for the MADANI Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, says its chairman, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. Hajiji, who is also the Chief Minister, said this was because many of Sabah's demands under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) had been approved and implemented for the benefit of the people, leaving no reason for GRS not to support the MADANI Government. 'I would like to reiterate that GRS remains supportive of the Prime Minister. Many of our initiatives and demands under MA63 have been approved by him. bootstrap slideshow 'Previously, it was very difficult to devolve powers or approve our requests... if the MADANI Government is good for our state, why wouldn't we support it?' he said here tonight.
