Star Copper Announces Plans for Fully Funded Fall 2025 Phase 2 Drill Campaign in Golden Triangle of BC

Yahoo5 days ago
Deeper, broader step-out drill campaign to offer low risk test of emerging calk-alkalic porphyry system.
VANCOUVER, BC / / August 5, 2025 / Star Copper Corp. (CSE:STCU)(OTCQX:STCUF)(FWB:SOP) ("Star Copper" or the "Company"), a critical minerals exploration and development company, is pleased to report that it is in receipt of newly processed geophysical data from the Star copper-gold project located in British Columbia's Golden Triangle. This information is being used to refine target generation and drill pad placement ahead of a fully funded Phase 2 drill campaign scheduled for fall 2025. The company is shifting towards a discovery-based drill program to further expand the known deposit.
Company CEO Darryl Jones notes, "The significance of our Phase 1 drill campaign, which is nearing completion, is already driving momentum into the fall of 2025. Based on the accumulated historic data and preliminary findings from our Phase 1 campaign at Star, our team has begun advancing towards Phase 2 drilling with increased confidence and focus on targeted results to expand the Star deposit model. The company is diligently working towards unlocking what we believe is a multi-kilometer porphyry cluster. We are very pleased with what we are achieving in the field and look forward to building value well into the latter part of 2025."
Inverted IP (Induced Polarization) chargeability models support continued exploration success at Star Main and are enabling the Company to confidently design a deeper, broader step-out drill program. The well-defined supergene copper enrichment zone at Star Main, measuring approximately 250 metres by 250 metres and extending to depths of 100 metres, hosts pervasive azurite and malachite mineralization. This zone serves as the foundation for an emerging calk-alkalic porphyry system not commonly found in British Colombia. See Figure 1.
Figure 1 - Star Target Cu-oxide zone & historic drilling. Star Copper 2025
Planning for Growth: Star North and Star East
Star Copper has constructed new drill pads at its Star North target, situated approximately 1km north of current drilling. This area presents a robust geophysical and geochemical footprint matching Star Main in both size (500m x 500m) and technical signature. The overlapping soil anomaly and IP chargeability high, coupled with strong geologic continuity, make Star North a compelling, high impact drill target for Phase 2.
About 1km east of Star Main, the Star East target also mirrors the Star Main system, comprising a 250m x 500m chargeability and copper-gold soil anomaly. Both targets are fully permitted and prioritized for fall drilling.
Historical Upside at Copper Creek
Concurrently, the Company is advancing the Copper Creek target which is another historically drilled zone on the property in preparation for future testing. Drilling conducted in the 1970s returned grades of 0.48% copper from surface to 50 metres depth, (G-2-70 -341104 mE, 6456326mN UTM 9N, 000/-80 - Property File 800226) Copper Creek adds an additional dimension to the evolving porphyry cluster at Star.
Unlocking a Porphyry Cluster
Drilling to-date at Star Main has confirmed classic porphyry mineralization styles to depths of 674 metres. The Company believes that the emerging targets encompassing Star Main, Star North, Star East, and Copper Creek all represent a multi-kilometer porphyry cluster within a highly prospective and underexplored portion of BC's Golden Triangle. See Figure 2.

Pending Assays
Results from the first phase of drilling at Star are currently being analyzed and will be reported as they are received from Bureau Veritas, a world leader in laboratory testing, inspection and certification services.

Sour news for pickle lovers: Bick's pickles no longer stocked at some Canadian retailers

It's kind of a big dill. Popular pickle brand Bick's, which is made only for the Canadian market, is no longer on the shelves of some Canadian retailers, a consequence of the ongoing trade war between Canada and the United States. While it's a jarring change for many shoppers, it may push consumers to buy more homegrown options and there could be other ripple effects that affect Canadian jobs and businesses. At several Safeway grocery stores in Edmonton, a sign on the shelf reads "Bick's pickles are currently unavailable as an unfortunate impact of tariffs. We are pleased to offer a selection of alternatives for your shopping convenience." Parent company Sobeys did not respond to several requests for comment. Pickles caught in tariff war "We're sad to hear that Bick's is embroiled in this tariff dispute," said Steven Oakland, the CEO of TreeHouse Foods Inc., which owns the Bick's brand. After the U.S. slapped tariffs on Canadian goods in March, the Canadian government retaliated with a long list of counter tariffs, among them a 25 per cent tariff on "cucumbers and gherkins." "I think a lot of retailers feel that 25 per cent tariff makes them just too expensive frankly," Oakland said, adding that retailers started reaching out to him with cost concerns at the start of the trade war. "The food business is a low-margin, high-volume business. And so there isn't 25 per cent either on the retailer side or the manufacturing side. So that has, in some cases, really inhibited the retailers' availability to justify carrying them." Oakland estimates that Bick's is still available in 70 per cent of the Canadian retail environment but said the company has been doing outreach to try and change the Canadian counter tariff, including reaching out to the governor of Illinois. 'An intertwined business' Bick's began as a Canadian company, was later acquired by a U.S. company and production was moved south of the border around 2014, Oakland said. However, the ties between the two countries have stayed strong. "We continued to prioritize Canadian cucumbers for that product. [It's] why we went to a Canadian lid supplier… It's just been an intertwined business and now we've got a border dispute that just makes that transfer back and forth across the border expensive," he said. While the pickles are assembled in Green Bay, Wis., Oakland said the company buys 11 million pounds of Ontario cucumbers every year and said all the lids on the jars come from an Ontario manufacturer. Now, the company finds itself in an awkward situation or — some might even say — a pickle. Sales are down about 25 per cent in the last three months, according to Oakland, who said, going forward, the company will buy fewer pickles and lids from its Canadian partners. Buy Canadian sentiment With patriotism surging amid trade tensions, many shoppers are opting to buy Canadian, but there could also be unintended consequences for a company such as Bick's, according to experts. "If buy Canadian means that people aren't buying Bick's, as an example, then Bick's is buying fewer cucumbers from Canadian producers. Then that buy Canadian is sort of coming back to bite, pardon the pun, the Canadian farmers," said food economist Mike von Massow from the University of Guelph. Kwaku Afesorgbor, a professor in the department of food, agriculture and resource economics at the University of Guelph, suggests it is ultimately customers who pay the cost. Afesorgbor said customers often end up absorbing the cost of tariffs or, if the product is no longer available, they face fewer options for what they can buy, which eventually affects their pocketbook. 'It's not great' Crystal Porcher wouldn't be offended if you called her a pickle enthusiast. The Edmonton woman grew up eating pickles and admits to eating the crunchy snack at least twice a week. She even has a pickle tattoo on her hands, one of 10 of her favourite food items. "If you're out in a pub or having a beer or whatever, they're usually on the menu and I am guilty of just asking for a bowl of pickles, even if it's just a side with something else," Porcher said. With several brands in the fridge at any given time, Porcher is still processing that pickles have been caught up in the trade war. "Personally, it's not great. Obviously I'm gonna be paying more for something that I love to eat. I'm not going to stop consuming an entire part of my diet because the prices increase a little bit. Obviously if I can't find them, I'll have to suss out some other options," she said. Food products caught in trade war The issue with Bick's spotlights how food products have been tangled up in the tariff dispute. "There are other products that have somewhat complicated supply chains, and I suppose pickled vegetables are an example of that," said John Cox, executive vice president of Pickle Packers International, a trade association of the pickled vegetable industry. Cox said the organization is advocating for duty-free transportation north and south of food products under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). He argues that it is particularly important for the pickled vegetable industry, which he said is competitive with slim margins. "When you have a 25 per cent import duty added to the cost of production, it makes it impossible to be profitable," he said. "I'm concerned for the long-term prospects for Bick's." For Oakland and TreeHouse Foods Inc., the timing couldn't be worse. "Having lived in Ontario myself for 11 years, I understand how important barbecue season is and I just hate that Bick's is embroiled in this right now," Oakland said.

Moose Munchies Candy Co Expands Sweet Legacy Across North America

Canadian fudge brand Moose Munchies Candy Co grows its artisanal, nostalgic treats while championing inclusivity and clean ingredients. Canada, August 10, 2025 -- From Kitchen Experiment to Canadian Confectionery Success Moose Munchies Candy Co began as a serendipitous kitchen experiment that transformed into one of Canada's most charming and purposeful confectionery brands. Founded by single mother and entrepreneur Gillian Manton, the journey started when a family request for fudge led to an unexpectedly different creation — a topping that worked wonderfully on ice cream but was far from traditional fudge. Rather than being discouraged, Gillian took this as a challenge, dedicating months to refining recipes, testing techniques, and balancing flavors. What emerged was a line of handcrafted fudge that not only delivered nostalgia and indulgence but also addressed modern dietary and ethical values. From its earliest days of sharing homemade batches with friends and neighbors, Moose Munchies grew into a beloved staple on store shelves and in online carts across Canada, setting the stage for expansion into the wider North American market. Redefining Indulgence with Clean, Inclusive Recipes Moose Munchies Candy Co sets itself apart with a product philosophy centered on inclusivity and mindful indulgence. Each batch is nut-free and gluten-free, catering to a broad range of dietary needs without compromising on flavor or texture. In addition, recipes feature 40% less sugar compared to other leading fudge brands, providing a balanced option for those who wish to enjoy a sweet treat while being mindful of sugar intake. The company's commitment to clean, limited ingredients resonates with modern consumers seeking transparency in their food. The focus is not simply on creating candy but on fostering moments of joy that everyone can share. 'Our goal is for Moose Munchies to be the treat people turn to, not just because it tastes good, but because it reminds them that they are special,' Gillian said. Nostalgia Meets Contemporary Values While Moose Munchies' flavor profiles evoke the warm, familiar taste of classic fudge, the brand's approach reflects current consumer expectations. Sustainability plays a central role in operations, with a strict no-food-waste policy and partnerships with community and global causes. This blend of tradition and progressiveness helps Moose Munchies stand out in a crowded confectionery market. Seasonal flavors rotate throughout the year, adding variety while celebrating occasions and local traditions. The fudge's presentation is equally thoughtful, with bold, gift-ready packaging that turns each purchase into an experience. Whether purchased for a holiday, a celebration, or a quiet night at home, Moose Munchies offers an indulgence that carries meaning beyond the bite. A Growing Presence in Major Retail and Online From humble beginnings in Gillian's home kitchen, Moose Munchies now reaches customers through major retailers such as Sobeys and Foodland. In-store sales are complemented by a robust online operation, with orders shipping directly from the company's Ontario facility as quickly as the next business day. This dual retail strategy allows the company to serve a diverse customer base — those who enjoy browsing in physical stores and those who prefer the convenience of online shopping. As the brand expands its presence in North America, plans include broader distribution and eventual entry into markets such as Australia and Europe. Awards and Recognition for Quality and Flavor Moose Munchies has already earned recognition for its quality, including awards for Best Fudge in regional competitions. These accolades affirm the brand's position as a leader in artisanal confections while reinforcing its reputation for flavor consistency, texture quality, and presentation. Awards aside, the most telling measure of success remains the enthusiasm of returning customers. From families stocking up for special occasions to gift-givers seeking thoughtful and inclusive treats, loyal customers have played a central role in the company's rapid growth. Building a Brand Around Joy and Community For Moose Munchies, fudge is more than a product — it's a symbol of connection. The company's vision extends far beyond retail success, encompassing the creation of spaces where families can engage in candy-making experiences, enjoy entertainment, and connect over shared traditions. Plans for future growth include expanded community involvement, philanthropic initiatives, and partnerships that align with the brand's values of inclusivity, sustainability, and joy. The goal is to build a brand identity that people associate with the comforts of home, even as it scales into new territories. By retaining its handcrafted ethos and commitment to clean, inclusive recipes, Moose Munchies aims to remain a fixture for those seeking both indulgence and meaning in their sweets. Looking Toward Global Expansion The company's ambitions are firmly set on the international stage. With North American distribution on the horizon, Moose Munchies is planning for entry into overseas markets. Australia is identified as the next frontier, where the company hopes to introduce its signature fudge to audiences eager for both nostalgic flavors and modern dietary inclusivity. To support these goals, Moose Munchies is investing in production capacity, brand partnerships, and logistics infrastructure. Maintaining quality and consistency remains paramount, ensuring that the handcrafted character of each batch is preserved regardless of scale. An Invitation to Experience the Sweet Legacy Moose Munchies Candy Co represents the intersection of tradition, innovation, and community values. In every square of fudge lies a story of perseverance, creativity, and connection — from Gillian Manton's first imperfect batch to the award-winning treats enjoyed across Canada today. Those seeking a confectionery brand with both heart and craft will find Moose Munchies Candy Co to be a natural choice. As expansion continues, the company invites customers, retailers, and partners to join in building a legacy where sweetness is measured not just in flavor, but in the joy it brings to people's lives. Up 134%! Could this be one of the best stocks to buy now?

Investors who spotted Fresnillo (LSE:FRES) as one of the best stocks to buy at the start of 2025 are understandably celebrating right now. The last seven months have generally been a great time for UK shares, with the FTSE 100 delivering a 14.2% total return. But this performance pales in comparison to the 134% returns from Fresnillo shares. And that's not even including dividends! So the question has now become, is Fresnillo still a top stock to consider buying now? Let's investigate. Why are Fresnillo shares surging? There are several factors contributing to the outperformance of this leading gold and silver mining enterprise: Surging gold prices – Rising geopolitical tensions have resulted in high demand for safe-haven assets like gold and silver, driving up the price of Fresnillo's flagship precious metals Production ramp up – Production output is on the rise thanks to higher ore grades, particularly at its Herradura mine, leading to an upgrade in full-year guidance Currency tailwinds – The benefits of higher gold production and precious metal prices have been compounded by the devaluation of the Mexican peso vs the US dollar, resulting in a 20.2% drop in adjusted production costs. There are other factors at play. But overall, the net effect is an enormous jump in both revenue and earnings throughout 2025. This, in turn, translated into an enormous surge of free cash flow to over $1bn in the first half of the year versus $187.4m a year ago. And the end result is a balance sheet getting flooded with cash while dividends are up 225%! With that in mind, it's not surprising to see the Fresnillo share price skyrocketing. Looming headwinds? With such impressive growth under its belt, many investors may be wondering if the stock still has more to offer. And with some institutional share price forecasts projecting the share price to climb a further 18% over the next 12 months, Fresnillo may still belong on investors' 'best stocks to buy' lists. However, forecasts always need to be taken with a pinch of salt. And despite its strong performance, the mining giant still has plenty of challenges to overcome. Most recently, the reserves at its Sabinas mine were revised downward by 50%, impacting internal production and free cash flow projections. At the same time, there continues to be uncertainty regarding Mexican mining regulations. While this hasn't had a major impact in the near term, in the long run, the shifting regulatory landscape surrounding open pit mines could make future expansion far more challenging – a serious problem once Fresnillo's existing projects start to reach the end of their lifecycle. The bottom line Fresnillo appears to be enjoying the tailwinds of higher production volumes and commodity prices. That's certainly translated into impressive financial results, but it also masks the ongoing regional, regulatory, and operating risks the company is entangled with. Suppose gold prices were to suddenly fall? In that case, investor sentiment could quickly turn, potentially undoing a large chunk of the group's recent gains. As such, Fresnillo's definitely a high-risk investment right now. That's why I'm not rushing to buy its shares today. The post Up 134%!
