Las Vegas Aces hit with terrible A'ja Wilson injury news as the three-time WNBA MVP left game after awkward fall
The Las Vegas Aces may be facing their toughest challenge yet this season as star forward A'ja Wilson exited Tuesday night's game against the New York Liberty with a right wrist injury.
Wilson, a three-time WNBA MVP and one of the league's most dominant players, went down late in the second quarter following an awkward fall. The Aces later ruled her out for the remainder of the game, leaving fans and teammates anxiously awaiting further updates.
A'ja Wilson exits with wrist injury after hard fall as Las Vegas Aces lose to New York Liberty in major setback
The injury happened with just over four minutes left in the first half. As A'ja Wilson drove toward the basket, she was fouled by Leonie Fiebich and took a hard tumble to the floor.
She attempted to break her fall with her hands, which led to the apparent wrist injury. The Aces' bench immediately cleared as medical staff rushed to her side, while teammates shielded her with towels.
'She's the heart and soul of this team, so we all have her back. She has our back every night,' said Jackie Young after the game (via CBS Sports). 'Whenever a person goes out we all try to step up. I mean, it's A'ja Wilson, not one person can just fill that role.

Despite the fall, Wilson got to her feet and made both free throws before briefly continuing to play. She was subbed out with 2:22 remaining in the second quarter and did not return. ESPN's Holly Rowe later confirmed that Wilson had been ruled out with a right wrist injury and would undergo an MRI the next day.
Wilson returned to the bench in the third quarter wearing a wrist wrap, cheering on her teammates as they ultimately fell to the Liberty 87-78.
She finished the game with two points, four rebounds, and two assists, shooting 0-for-3 from the field.
T
his latest setback adds to a turbulent season for the Aces, who dropped to 9-10 with the loss. Wilson had already missed three games earlier in the year due to a concussion. Now, her status for the upcoming All-Star Game on July 19 in Indianapolis is also uncertain, where she was named a starter on Team Caitlin Clark.

Run-hungry Sarfaraz Khan offers reminder of Test availability
Sarfaraz Khan (PTI Photo) CHENNAI: When some of his Mumbai teammates and TNCA XI players were waiting for the curtains to come down following a rain interruption towards the end of Monday's play, Sarfaraz Khan was itching to get back on the field. Sarfaraz, who had retired hurt with cramps after smashing 138 (114 balls, 10x4, 6x6), had his pads on and was craving for more on the opening day of the Buchi Babu invitational red-ball tournament at the Gojan 'B' Ground here. Courtesy of his stroke-filled ton and halfcenturies from Suved Parkar (72) and Aakash Parkar (67 not out), Mumbai posted a handsome first-innings score of 367-5 at stumps. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The hunger that Sarfaraz showed reflected the burning desire which he has to get back to India's Test set-up. The 27-year-old only warmed the bench during the BorderGavaskar Trophy in Australia and was ignored for the recent tour to England. Playing his first competitive longformat match since turning out for India 'A' against England Lions, the right-hander, on Monday, was fully immersed in the task of accumulating runs. So much so that he had to be informed by his teammates after completing his century on the stroke of tea. The Mumbai batter brought up his milestone with a Virender Sehwag-esque upper cut over the wicketkeeper's head, which resulted in a boundary. Up against a not-so-strong bowling attack, Sarfaraz made TNCA XI pay heavily for their drops. He was handed reprieves – both off left-arm spinner M Siddharth's bowling – on 15 and 121 before deciding to leave the field with cramps. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like We Have No Words For Dog The Bounty Hunter's Transformation Cash Roadster Undo Sarfaraz was particularly severe on the two slow bowlers, Siddharth (he hit him for 49 runs off 42 balls) and off-spinning allrounder Mohamed Ali (28 off 14 balls), as he treated them with disdain. He used his slog-sweeps to good effect to collect many fours in the square leg-midwicket region while opting to access the 'V' when trying to clear the fence. Besides his attractive strokemaking, what caught the eye was his eagerness to run hard between the wickets. He put his speed boots on quite a few times, one of the notable moments being him pinching a single a few minutes before suffering a minor setback. Having a leaner frame, a result of his recent transformation, may have helped him in the cause. Sarfaraz, once overlooked by the national selectors for fitness issues despite amassing loads of runs, shed about 17 kgs in a short time in his bid to once again climb to the top. Sarfaraz's brother Musheer Khan hailed him for putting on another good show. 'My bhai has made it a habit to hit tons. We have a good score and hope to score more in the remaining overs (on Tuesday),' Musheer said in a post-day chat. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

The assistance should not be just a financial one. It should also prepare an aspiring athlete for the long-term professional obligations. Currently, under the NIL deal, sponsors limit their contract with the student-athletes to a one-year deal. LeBron James' agent, Rich Paul, suggests multi-year deals for a better understanding of professional obligations LeBron James' agent, Rich Paul, believes that the current NIL structure is limiting the prospects for young college athletes. Paul thinks that these young athletes should understand their obligations at an early stage. While talking to Sports Business Journal, he stated, 'If we're going to have student athletes get paid, we should teach them the proper way and the obligations that come with actually being paid.' Paul believes that this particular minor change within the structure would benefit both the agency and the client in the long run. The current short-term structure leaves both the agency and the athlete in an unstable condition. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tom Cruise's Daughter Is Hands Down The Most Beautiful Woman In The World Fab Pop Undo An early implementation of multi-year deals for these young athletes would help them secure a consistent income and a stable future. Paul has been a part of the NBA world for more than a couple of decades now. As a sports agent, he has closed some of the biggest deals for NBA legends like LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He shared his opinion on the NIL structure based on the experience he has gathered so far. What is the NIL structure? The Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) structure was allowed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in 2021. Before this, the college athletes were not allowed to make money off their abilities. The implementation of this structure brought a major change. Under the structure, the student-athletes can hire professionals to assist them in marketing, legal issues, tax laws, and other business dealings. Since then, the young athletes have been deriving significant benefits from the scheme. Brands like Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour have signed athletes from college. These structures have become one of the most relevant factors in college sports. Some of the major perks for the student-athletes include free sneakers, workout gear, high-end clothing, and dorm essentials.
