Patna: Altogether 85,000 students appeared in the
degree Part III examinations
of the
Patliputra University
(PPU) on Monday, conducted across 55 examination centres, in the Patna and Nalanda districts of the state.
According to the PPU examination controller Manoj Kumar, the university deployed observers at all centres so that all necessary arrangements were made to ensure a smooth and fair examination process. "The university is committed to maintaining
academic integrity
and providing a conducive environment for students during the exams," he said.
In another major development, the university has decided to implement a
centralised admission process
for its degree Part 1 four-year CBCS (
choice-based credit system
) courses from the upcoming academic session. The university's registrar N K Jha said the admission portal will be opened on May 25 and the university will admit 1.20 lakh students across various undergraduate regular courses.
"PPU has issued a new academic calendar aligning with the updated structure and timelines of the CBCS curriculum. The centralised system is expected to streamline admissions and ensure uniformity in the process across all constituent and affiliated colleges located in Patna and Nalanda," Jha said.

Govt orders teaching staff to add educational certificates to e-service book
Patna: The education department on Wednesday ordered its teaching staff to include their educational certificates in the e-service book maintained on the e-shikshakosh portal. The objective is to enable any official to view and check them at any level. This book will store personal and service-related information, including appointment details, promotions, transfers and academic qualifications of all categories of teachers, headmasters and librarians working in govt schools. All certificates taken during counselling of teachers and headmasters of schools whose candidate-wise folders are maintained in the respective district education office, will be scanned by the DEO and uploaded to the e-Shikshakosh. School teachers of TRE-1 and 2, and regular and appointed teachers will upload all their educational and professional certificates in PDF format to the portal using their login ID, which will be approved by the headmaster of the school concerned using their school login. Along with this, the year of passing in the certificates will also be accurately entered in the e-Shikshakosh. Manoj Kumar, the secretary of All India Primary Teachers' Federation, said that while they are not opposed to digitisation, they are concerned about maintaining confidentiality. "The federation wants to ensure that sensitive and confidential documents, which are being asked to be uploaded, are handled with care. We request the department to prioritise data protection," he said.

PPU invites applications for LLB programmes
Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) has invited online applications for its LLB programmes, offering both 3-year and 5-year courses. Interested candidates can apply through the university's admission portal starting Thursday, said Rajeev Ranjan, dean of students' welfare (DSW) at PPU, adding that the deadline for submitting applications is Aug18. According to Ranjan, the university is set to release the first merit list of the successful and shortlisted candidates on Aug 21, and the admission process will be completed by Aug 25. Candidates are advised to apply promptly and ensure all required documents are submitted accurately to avoid the last moment disappointment, he said, adding further details regarding eligibility and application procedures are available on the official website of the university. In order to simplify the admission process and support aspiring law students via digital platforms, the DSW said that the online application fee is Rs1,500 for candidates from the General, BC I, and BC II categories, and Rs1,000 for those from SC/ST categories.
