Michael B. Jordan's gothic musical horror Sinners continues its phenomenal box office run, officially crossing the USD 350 million global mark and setting its sights on dethroning Hannibal soon. The latter film peaked at USD 351.7 million and currently stands as the 12th highest-grossing horror film of all time.
Sinners collected USD 83 million from international markets after seven weekends, lifting its global earnings to USD 351.1 million. The Ryan Coogler- directed period horror film has also made a substantial domestic impact, amassing USD 267.1 million in the US alone. With a production budget of USD 90 million excluding marketing, Sinners is not only a critical darling but also a commercial one, with eyes set on a final worldwide total in the range of USD 370-400 million.
By Tuesday, Sinners is projected to surpass both Alien: Romulus (USD 350.9M) and Hannibal, officially cementing its place as the 12th highest-grossing horror film in history. It will also become the second-highest-grossing horror release in the post-COVID era globally, trailing only behind Scream VI.
Set in the 1932 Mississippi Delta, Sinners stars Jordan in a dual role as criminal twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return to their hometown seeking a new start in life, only to be confronted by a sinister supernatural force. The film features a strong ensemble cast including Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, Delroy Lindo, and newcomer Miles Caton.
Coogler, known for Black Panther and Creed, began developing Sinners through his production company Proximity Media in early 2024. Following a competitive bidding war, Warner Bros. Pictures secured the distribution rights. Principal photography took place between April and July 2024, with longtime Coogler collaborator Ludwig Göransson handling the musical aspect of the film with his haunting score. Göransson also acted as an executive producer.
Sinners debuted theatrically across the globe on April 18 and has since become one of this year's standout entertainment pieces. Its critical acclaim, period setting, and genre-blending appeal have helped it transcend horror audiences and become a behemoth success. With momentum still on its side despite its impending June 3 digital debut, Sinners is poised to continue making record books for modern horror cinema.

The Batman: Part II Filming Date Confirmed, All We Know About Robert Pattinson Starrer

The Batman: Part II is one of the most highly anticipated DC films. Weeks after Matt Reeves dropped an update on the script, the makers have announced that the filming for the Robert Pattinson starrer is set to begin next year. The cast and the crew will assemble to shoot the first scenes of the movie on January 1, 2026. The first part of the superhero film was dropped in 2022, after multiple delays, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, The Batman hit it out of the park, leaving the fans wanting more of Robert Pattinson on the screens. As for the sequel, it too faced some complexities in the making after James Gunn took over the DC Studios. While the filmmaker expressed his wish to have the Universe more streamlined, it did not stop the co-head of the studios from allowing the actor and Matt Reeves to work on the project in the Elseworlds. Hence, the audience will not witness Batman and Superman in the same universe. All we know about The Batman: Part II Robert Pattinson will return to the franchise as one of the beloved superheroes in the DC Universe. Additionally, Colin Farrell will also reprise his role as The Penguin. Moreover, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth will join the rest of the cast members in the sequel to The Batman. While the plot of the upcoming movie is kept under wraps, Matt Reeves, the director, revealed that the script for the film was complete. He took to his Instagram to share the update with the audience. Previously opening up about The Batman: Part II, and the delay that has been caused, Gunn stated to the media portal, 'People should get off Matt's nuts because it's like, let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it. That's just the way it is.' Further talking to Entertainment Weekly, the DC co-head added, 'He doesn't owe you something because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does.' The Batman: Part II is scheduled to hit theaters in October 2027.

Box Office: Superman crosses Jurassic World Rebirth domestically; Dinosaur film wins global contest with a USD 200 million margin

Superman and Jurassic World: Rebirth are among Summer 2025's biggest blockbusters globally. Both the movies have comfortably broken even theatrically and the big chunk of non-theatrical revenue, along with the recurring revenue through syndication shall act as their profit. The two movies engaged in a close battle at the domestic box office but Superman has finally taken the lead in its fourth week and that will remain constant till both movies end their run. Superman Wins The Domestic Battle Against An Able Rival Like Jurassic World: Rebirth The superhero movie released a week after Jurassic World: Rebirth, but it has still managed to go past the dinosaur movie, courtesy strong word of mouth. The total domestic collections of Superman have crossed USD 320 million at the time of this article, and the lifetime collections are likely to be in the USD 370 million range. On the other hand, Jurassic World: Rebirth is likely to end its run with collections of around USD 340 million. Jurassic World: Rebirth Takes The Global Win The story is different at the global box office as the Scarlett Johansson movie is comfortably ahead of the David Corenswet film. Jurassic World: Rebirth stands at slightly under USD 800 million, compared to the little under USD 600 million global gross of Superman. Both movies will add USD 60-80 million from here and this means that the difference between the two movies will be around USD 200 million, in favour of the Jurassic movie. Lilo And Stitch Is Summer 2025's Biggest Winner The biggest global summer hit of 2025 is Lilo And Stitch. The movie, despite mixed word of mouth, and a clash with Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, hit a billion dollars globally. This Disney movie's reception reiterates that audiences have not had enough of family-comedies yet. Key Takeaways From Summer 2025 There are a few key takeaways from Summer 2025. Asia is no longer the major contributor it once used to be for Hollywood films. Yes, old-school films like Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, F1 and Jurassic World: Rebirth are still getting the audiences but they are not operating at all time high levels or even close. Films like Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which are big blockbusters domestically, need to find a way to engage the international audiences just as much. Although not disappointing, the overseas reception of both these movies is not up to the mark.
