It's a busy time of year as the summer ramps up but you won't regret taking two minutes out of your day for Record Sport's new bitesized podcast – Game On!

We will debate all the major global sporting topics in a fast-paced manner as the team gets their points across before the whistle blows. The handy segments of the show mean there's no waffling on, we get straight to the point and you can get your fix in a quick and easy manner.

Game On, which is available now on Youtube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, airs every Friday and this week Michael Gannon and Graeme Young passionately debate the big talking points. This week it's whether Russell Martin is a good fit for Rangers, if Steven Gerrard was actually success last time round, and whether Celtic should explore a return for Giorgos Giakoumakis – among plenty of others.
Here's just a flavour of it. You can watch the full podcast in the player above, or listen here.
Would Russell Martin be too risky for Rangers or a calculated gamble?
Michael Gannon: I think it would be a really interesting appointment. Rangers need a manager who's going to be a wee bit different in terms of their approach. He came a cropper for his ultra-attacking approach that at Southampton, he didn't have the players to do that in that league. But Rangers could do with someone thinking a bit differently with a swashbuckling approach.
We've seen plenty of Rangers managers over the years bogged down trying to beat teams. Not Celtic, they can usually compete with Celtic in a one-off game. But it's these games in Scotland where it's really hard to break teams down, not having that directness, pace or incisiveness. Being good on the break works in Europe; it doesn't work in Scotland. So I think it would be really interesting.
Graeme Young: The format of this show is all about debate but we're in perfect harmony here. Rangers have been missing that ability to squeeze the smaller teams, and really go for the jugular. He's probably been the closest fit for that, the Angeball style.

He played for Rangers during quite a low point and it didn't go well on the pitch, but he'll be self aware of that. He's the man you should want, he can bring some freshness to Rangers, and he appears 49ers approved – I think they want that style of football.
Was Steven Gerrard really a success during his first spell?
Graeme: Yes. Things have followed him about, that 'do I look happy?' interview and the phrase 'one in nine' because he won one trophy out of nine. That couldn't be more unfair. The first season there was signs of growth, they showed who they were, they were on the up. And they got more streetwise as the seasons went on.
His last full season, romping to the league, there was a real regret about the cup defeats to St Mirren and St Johnstone. But he righted the wrongs of the title near-misses. I think a manager of his ability would have found a way to do that in the cups (if he'd stayed). Over a slightly longer sample period, he'd have been able to fix that.
Michael: You've got to remember where Rangers were when he came in. They were getting battered by Celtic, they were miles behind. It was a real rebuilding job and it took a bit of time. The end of his second season when the league got shut down, they were struggling. They lost at home to Hamilton and there were a few grumbles at that time.
But he'll always be remembered for delivering that first league title for so long, and for denying Celtic the fabled ten. Also what he did was regain credibility in Europe, and set the foundations in place for the run to a European final which was a huge achievement. I don't think anyone can suggest he wasn't a success.

Celtic hero makes key prediction about Postecoglou's future

The Australian was sacked by the North London club on Friday afternoon, despite leading them to Europa League glory just over a fortnight prior. Read more: Recently speaking to Sky Sports, Grant outlined his stance on Postecoglou, making a key prediction about his future. "I think it is [harsh]," he said. "I get really excited watching Tottenham because I don't know what I'm going to get. "I think he's been terrific. I'm delighted for him that he got the European trophy, for one reason, because, for Scottish football, people might say, 'He was only managing Celtic up in Scotland'. "He's proven what a top-quality manager he is, there is absolutely no doubt of that. "I'm sure he'll get a top-quality job yet again. "I'm delighted for him, and I'm sure he'll go on to bigger and better things." Spurs captain Son Heung-Min made his feelings on Postecoglou's sacking clear: "You've changed the trajectory of this club," he said on Instagram. "You believed in yourself, and us, since day one and never wavered for a second. Even when others did. "You knew what we were capable of all along. You did it your way. And your way brought this club the best night it's had in decades. We will have those memories for life. "You trusted me with the captaincy. One of the highest honours of my career. It's been an incredible privilege to learn from your leadership up close, I am a better player and a better person because of you. "Ange Postecoglou, you are a Tottenham Hotspur legend forever. Thank you, mate."

The 'special milestone' Schmeichel wants to reach before retiring

The Celtic goalkeeper is contracted at the club until the end of the forthcoming 2025/26 season. Schmeichel has already made 903 senior appearances in football. He has his eyes on a landmark number before hanging up his gloves, though. Read more: "It would be fantastic if I could reach 1000 games," the veteran said [RecordSport]. "You could say it would be a special milestone because not many people manage to play as many games as that. "I'm the type who doesn't see limitations, but rather opportunities. I enjoy what I do immensely. "I look forward to training every day and to all the matches. I know it will end one day. That's also why I live very much in the present. "I don't think several years into the future, but as I feel today, my plan is to continue my career for several years. "The only thing that can stop those ambitions is if there is a serious injury. "It has been one of the best seasons of my career. A new standard has been set for what we can and want. "We lost one cup final against Aberdeen, were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League after a game where we had enough chances to win the game. "I was really impressed with the atmosphere we had in the dressing room at the Allianz Arena. We had drawn against Bayern Munich, but we were very disappointed that we didn't progress. "It shows me a lot about how mature we are as a team and not least about how much we have moved on. "For me, it was the right time to end up at Celtic. Because I got exactly what I was looking for. I wanted more pressure and a big, traditional club. I got that at Celtic."

Ex-Rangers manager comments on treatment of Cyriel Dessers

The Nigerian finished last season as the Scottish Premiership's top scorer with 18 goals in 35 games. Clement, who was dismissed as manager in February following a 2-0 defeat to St Mirren at Ibrox, recently commented on Dessers and the treatment he receives from fans. Read more: He told BBC Scotland: "I think Cyriel gets abused like nobody else in the club, or on the pitch at least. "But he was always there to work hard and to do everything for the club every day, every training, every game. "Also in this period in his career, he never scored as many goals as he did at Rangers for the teams he played for in the past. "So in the end, he performed really well with his qualities. "He was top scorer I think at the end of this season. "Of course fans always want more. "Cyriel, if he'd played in a team that had won the league, then he would be for everybody a good player. "But if you don't win the league then you are not a good player anymore." He added: "That's life at Rangers." Russell Martin was named as the permanent successor to Clement on Thursday. The 39-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Ibrox as a new era begins in Govan.
