'In the first six months of our marriage, we only spent 21 days together," Anushka candidly told Vogue India. 'Yes, I actually calculated." With Virat traveling for matches and Anushka immersed in back-to-back film shoots, finding time for a single shared meal felt like a small victory. 'When I visit him overseas, it's not a vacation — it's to spend that one meal together. That time is precious."
Anushka also shut down assumptions that their visits to each other were glamorous getaways. 'People assume when I'm visiting Virat or when he's visiting me that it's a holiday, but it's really not. One person is always working," she clarified.
In another heartfelt interview with Simi Garewal, Anushka spoke about the toll that non-stop work had taken on her. After wrapping Sui Dhaaga and Zero shortly after her wedding, the actor found herself emotionally and physically drained. 'I told my team I don't even want to read anything right now," she said, recalling her decision to take a break and reset.
Anushka and Virat tied the knot in a dreamy, intimate ceremony in Italy in December 2017 after several years of dating. Their journey together since has been marked by deep companionship and shared priorities, especially after becoming parents to daughter Vamika in 2021 and son Akaay in 2024.
