Coronation Street fans reeling over abrupt exit as they 'wish actor the best'

Daily Mirror5 hours ago

Coronation Street confirmed an offscreen exit for one character on the ITV soap on Monday with no final scenes set to air after the news an actor has left the show
Some Coronation Street fans were shocked by an exit that aired rather abruptly on Monday night.
An offscreen departure was confirmed for one character weeks after they were last onscreen. There was no announcement about the character or the actor playing them that confirmed an exit was due.

Instead, The Mirror confirmed last week that the star in question had left the role and finished filming. We were told by an insider that Bobby Crawford actor Jack Carroll has already finished filming on the show, and his last scenes had already aired.

There was no big exit for the actor or his character with him quietly leaving the show, while Bobby's recent decision to flee was thought to be temporary at the time. Now it's been confirmed that Bobby's trip abroad is in fact his exit plot, as he will not return to the show.
His exit was announced in scenes on Monday night during a conversation with Betsy Swain and Lauren Bolton. They seemed as shocked as viewers were over the abrupt exit confirmation, with fans stunned that there would be no final scenes or goodbye from the character.
Betsy confirmed that Bobby was not coming back and was gone for good. Viewers watching the moment were a bit stunned, given how quietly the character departed with nothing said.
Not even his aunt Carla Connor acknowledged it with the chat with Betsy and Lauren being his exit announcement. While many fans had seen the news confirmed last week, others did not and even those that knew Jack had left the role didn't expect Bobby's exit to be as low key as it was.
Taking to social media, one fan said: "Just watching todays episode and Lauren just spoke with Betsy, and Betsy just said 'Bobby's not coming back'. WTF is he just written out like that then? I didn't mind Bobby. A little boring but I didn't mind him when he first came and was getting to know his aunty Carla lol. Anyways who else is leaving I don't know about?!"

Another fan said: "Most unceremonious exit of all time. Can't say I'll miss him but I do wish Jack Carroll the best in whatever he does next. A third viewer added: "Bobby!"
A further comment read: "Quietest exit ever?" as another said: "I wasn't his biggest fan but kind of surprised that this is how he left, guess he won't be back for the inevitable Swarla wedding." A final comment read: "Such a low key exit that we never noticed he didn't return."

Last year, fans were left puzzled regarding the whereabouts of the character with some believing he had secretly quit the show then. He featured quite heavily in the soap earlier in the year and then suddenly disappeared with no mention of where he was.
It's now been confirmed that Bobby has made his exit from the soap, although the door has been left open for a return. A source told The Mirror: "Bobby has had a dramatic couple of years on the cobbles, but the time has come to bid farewell.
"Actor Jack enjoyed his time on the soap, but it's time to move on. Viewers won't see the character exit the street as he's already left, with Jack filming his final scenes some time ago."
"The door has been left open for Jack should he wish to come back to the show in the future. With his Aunty Carla there, Bobby will always have a place in Weatherfield."
The character was last seen in the soap last month when he headed off to Spain to visit Simon Barlow. The trip came after he was accused of being Lauren Bolton's blackmailer.

Fresh torment for Vinny in Emmerdale as Gabby delivers big Kammy revelation

Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) are engaged in Emmerdale and up until fairly recently, the road to their wedding was free from drama. The two characters announced their engagement in April. It left Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) very surprised, as they both feared it was too early in their relationship to decide they wanted to become husband and wife. During an afternoon of hanging out with new friend Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah), Vinny got carried away in a moment and tried to kiss him. The move left both of them stunned. Vinny tried to brush it off as a joke, claimed he isn't bisexual, and reminded Kammy that he's in a happy relationship with Gabby. In the aftermath though, while Vinny has tried to ignore the almost-kiss, it's very obvious it's been playing on his mind. Kammy has made it clear that he won't mention it anymore, focusing more on trying to support Vinny in this journey, rather than the fact he's lying to Gabby. More Trending In upcoming episodes, an excited Gabby is busy finalising the guest list for their engagement party. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers?
