Hamdan Foundation participates in Innovation Week under the theme "Together in Service of the Community

Dubai, UAE: In line with the "UAE Innovates" vision to strengthen the country's position as a global hub for innovation and foster a culture of government innovation, Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences is participating in Innovation Month under the theme "Together in Service of the Community". The foundation will host a series of events aimed at providing innovative solutions in the fields of education and medical sciences, while also supporting a creative environment through scientific and interactive activities that enhance individual capabilities and promote collaboration across various sectors.
His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, affirmed that the foundation's participation in "UAE Innovates" reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting scientific research and innovation in education and medical sciences. He emphasized that innovation is the cornerstone of developing sustainable solutions that serve the community.
HE added: "Through these initiatives, we aim to foster a culture of innovation and empower young minds to present pioneering ideas that align with the nation's vision for building a sustainable knowledge economy. Collaboration between government and private sectors, as well as the wider community, serves as a fundamental pillar in achieving this goal."
The program organized by the foundation during this week includes a series of training workshops and specialized events focusing on innovation in technology, scientific research, and digital manufacturing, with the participation of leading academic institutions and public and private sector entities.
As part of the program, students from Sheikh Rashid Islamic Institute will take part in a workshop on design and manufacturing titled "Young Minds: Towards a Sustainable Manufacturing Society," while students from the University of Sharjah will participate in a specialized program on the Robot Operating System (ROS2) titled "The Robotic Medical Assistant."
"UAE Innovates" is one of the world's largest innovation events, fostering collaboration and engagement between the public and private sectors while celebrating the exceptional achievements of innovators across various fields. Since its launch in 2015, this national event has become an inspiring platform for promoting a culture of creativity and developing innovative ideas, reinforcing the UAE's position as a global innovation hub and enhancing its positive impact on the international community.

Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has announced the completion of the screening process for the 2025 Medical Awards, which aim to recognize outstanding achievements in healthcare at both the local and regional levels. According to the awards committee, this year's cycle received a total of 330 submissions from 18 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt, Oman, Iraq, India, Kuwait, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Jordan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Morocco, the United States, Pakistan, Tunisia, Syria, and Ghana. Following an initial review, 261 submissions advanced to the administrative and technical screening stage, which involved verifying compliance with the award's eligibility criteria and guidelines. Of those, 161 applications were confirmed as eligible and are now set to proceed to the judging phase, scheduled to begin on 2 June and continue until 15 October. The judging process will be carried out by specialized committees comprising distinguished experts in the field. Each submission will be assessed according to the specific evaluation criteria established for each award category. Dr. Salama Al Muhairi, Director of Medical Excellence at Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, emphasized the significance of this stage, noting that the evaluation and screening of submissions adhere to the highest standards to ensure transparency and fairness throughout the process. She added that these efforts reflect the merit and credibility of the Medical Excellence Awards, which seek to spotlight innovations and achievements that contribute to the advancement of medical practices. The awards also aim to encourage and support researchers in producing impactful and innovative studies in medicine and healthcare. The Foundation is committed to sharing the benefits of award-winning work, offering it as a source of inspiration and a model for excellence in scientific and medical fields. These achievements also contribute to the development of new solutions to address growing challenges in the healthcare sector. The Medical Excellence Awards consist of two main categories. The first is dedicated to supporting health and research achievements across the Arab world and includes the Arab Award for Health Sector Research and the Arab Award for Genetic Sciences. The second category focuses on recognizing exceptional contributions within the United Arab Emirates and includes the Best Research in Healthcare Award, the Innovation in Healthcare Award, and the Hamdan Award for Distinguished Personalities. Over previous cycles, the awards have garnered wide recognition and attracted high-quality submissions from both inside and outside the UAE. This success reflects the Foundation's commitment to supporting innovation and fostering a culture of excellence in the healthcare sector, while highlighting major accomplishments in scientific research and healthcare delivery.

In his remarks, Dr. Duck-Ho Lim, former president of HYU, commended the far-reaching contributions of the Sharjah ruler across the globe, expressing hope for continued cooperation between the two countries. Dr. Jae-Ok Park, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, presented a detailed account of the ruler's achievements, which have helped position Sharjah as the cultural capital of the Arab world. He underlined His Highness's various publications and initiatives aimed at enriching the lives of his people. Founded in 1939, HYU is one of South Korea's most esteemed institutions, particularly known for its engineering programmes. Its alumni have made significant contributions to the country's development and technological innovations, both nationally and internationally. The honorary doctorate is one of several international recognitions bestowed upon His Highness in recognition of his leadership in education, culture, and public service.

He also stressed the importance of forming a dedicated working team to oversee educational initiatives and further develop the strategic partnership, with the aim of enhancing Sharjah's scientific and knowledge-driven role. The initiative also seeks to promote the global dissemination of Islamic heritage, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in advancing scientific research. Dr. Al-Tunaiji affirmed that distinguished scholarly work and its documentation represent a valuable legacy for communities and future generations. Professor Dr. Esameldin Agmy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, expressed his deep pride in signing the cooperation agreement with the Holy Quran Academy. He noted that the agreement, under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, adds great value to the collaboration. He affirmed that the University is home to a distinguished group of faculty members, researchers, and specialists across various fields, including the fundamentals of religion, jurisprudence, Quranic sciences, linguistics, and modern technologies. He noted that the collaboration will contribute to leveraging technology and artificial intelligence in supporting Quranic sciences—particularly in recitation and interpretation—enhancing accessibility and promoting global dissemination. Dr. Agmy emphasized that the agreement will strengthen scientific research and specialized studies in the field of the Holy Quran while reinforcing joint efforts between the two institutions. Professor Dr. Esameldin Agmy, along with his accompanying delegation, was also briefed on the academic and research contributions of the Holy Quran Academy. He was introduced to its efforts in promoting the values of tolerance and the beauty of Islam through its three main pillars: — The Sharjah Global Digital Quran Recitation Platform, which includes participants from 172 countries and facilitates the granting of Quranic certifications in various modes of recitation. — The Academy's commitment to Quranic research and studies as a top priority. — The Quranic museums, which showcase the history of the Holy Quran's transcription, rare manuscripts, Quranic sciences, renowned scholars, and the covering of the Holy Kaaba. The Chancellor expressed his admiration for the Holy Quran Academy, praising it as a cultural and intellectual landmark dedicated to the preservation, study, and promotion of the Holy Quran and its sciences.
