A First For KDN:Passport Booth With Two-hour Renewals At Johor MADANI Carnival

Barnama24-05-2025

JOHOR BAHRU, May 24 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has introduced a passport renewal booth for the first time, aimed at making it a breeze for citizens to obtain their identification document on the spot.
Its deputy secretary-general, Yusniza Yusuf said that previously, the documentation process for passports, especially when applied for online, could take up to three days.
She explained that with the booth set up during the 2025 Johor MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR), the public can renew passports immediately, provided they bring along their expired passports.
'KDN previously only conducted outreach programmes through government-organised events, using mobile buses or setting up booths for the National Registration Department (NRD) for matters related to MyKid, identity cards, birth certificates and death certificates.
'After observing the high demand for document processing at the NRD, we decided to extend our outreach to include the Immigration Department for passport-related matters for the first time,' she said today.
She explained that the people of Johor are most fortunate as they do not have to wait long to obtain their passports after renewing them at the booth, which has been open for three days starting yesterday while today should see a frenzied beeline to the KDN booth after proving to be a hit.
'If the response to this renewal service (passport) is positive, we at the Home Affairs Ministry will continue this effort in other programmes, including the upcoming PMR,' she said.
At 2025 Johor PMR, Yusniza also mentioned that the KDN is providing reference services related to the publication of the Al-Quran, determining whether they are approved for printing or not.
'The public can also exchange Al-Quran with doubtful or unauthorised printing -- including those without KDN's approval (stamp and hologram sticker) -- for new ones that have been officially permitted by the ministry.

PM Anwar: Unity not an option, it's a national requirement

Unity is the foundation of a country's development and is a catalyst for Malaysia's progress, Anwar said. – Bernama photo KUALA LUMPUR (June 2): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today stressed that national unity is no longer an option, but rather a key requirement to ensure the continuity of the country's development. He said unity is the foundation of a country's development and is a catalyst for Malaysia's progress. 'Malaysia will only remain strong if we stand together united. 'Stability and national unity are the basic conditions for all progress. In a world that is rapidly changing and full of challenges, unity is not an option, it is a necessity,' he said. Anwar said this in his congratulatory speech at the investiture ceremony to present federal awards, stars and medals by Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, in conjunction with His Majesty's official birthday celebration at Istana Negara today. In attendance was Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia. Present at the ceremony were the Prime Minister's wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Dewan Rakyat SpeakerTan Sri Johari Abdul and Dewan Negara President Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah. Also present were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and members of the Cabinet. Anwar said the MADANI government, under the auspices and guidance of His Majesty, will continue to be committed to implementing a comprehensive reform agenda based on the MADANI principles. 'Materialistic development alone is certainly not enough. In fact, it must be balanced with human values, social justice and human kindness,' said the Prime Minister. He emphasised that the development of infrastructure and public facilities should not be limited to mega projects like the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). Instead, equal attention must be given to upgrading and enhancing essential services such as schools, hospitals, and transport networks. 'The people are not only promised hope, but also protected tangibly and continuously,' he said. The Prime Minister also emphasised that the strategy to increase the people's income would continue to be driven through economic structural reforms, the influx of high-quality investments and the strengthening of the technology and innovation ecosystem. He said every citizen should have the opportunity to progress, regardless of racial or cultural background. – Bernama anwar ibrahim development lead unity

King calls on people to bolster unity, reminds leaders to avoid divisive politics

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has reminded leaders against politicising sensitive issues, which could fuel discord within society and threaten the nation's stability. His Majesty said the existence of more political parties or factions within parties would lead to a widened rift among the people, resulting in escalating enmity among them. "Use your wisdom before making any decisions. There is no greater gift to me than a united rakyat. "I have mentioned before that there is a virus that will strike our nation. "Now, this virus has begun to spread and cannot be cured. I often speak of this so that we do not easily forget," His Majesty said. Sultan Ibrahim was speaking during the Royal Address at the Investiture Ceremony for the year 2025 in conjunction with the King's official birthday celebration at Istana Negara. Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, was also in attendance. Present at the ceremony were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and Cabinet Ministers. His Majesty also called on all Malaysians to keep fostering unity as a gift to him. Sultan Ibrahim also announced a Royal Tour across the Federal Territories to witness firsthand the lives of the people and distribute tithes to the poor and eight categories of asnaf beneficiaries. – Bernama
