Jaipur, Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan was in Jaipur on Thursday to attend two key events -- the 9th Convocation Ceremony of the Central University of Rajasthan, and the inauguration of a lecture hall complex at Manipal University in Jaipur.Presiding as the Chief Guest at the 9th Convocation Ceremony of the Central University of Rajasthan, Pradhan emphasised the value of lifelong learning, stating: "Convocation is not an end, but a significant milestone in the continuous journey of education."Congratulating the 1,693 graduating students from Integrated M.Sc, B.Tech, B.Sc, and Diploma programmes, the minister reminded them that earning a degree is not only an academic milestone but also a call to action for nation-building and social responsibility. Highlighting the transformative vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, he noted that the policy advocates for multidisciplinary, skill-based, and employment-oriented education.He further revealed that to foster global academic collaboration, several foreign universities are now setting up campuses in India, with eight institutions already operational.Pradhan praised Rajasthan's rich intellectual legacy and its consistent performance in competitive exams like JEE and NEET, calling the state a "timeless cradle of knowledge, science, art, literature, and thought."He urged students to preserve this legacy with a modern, innovative spirit. As India positions itself as the world's fourth-largest economy, the minister stressed the importance of leveraging the innovation, skills, and leadership potential of the youth to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.Pradhan concluded his address by invoking the ancient Indian ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam -- "the world is one family" -- and reaffirmed India's commitment to becoming a global provider of solutions for humanity.The convocation also saw the inauguration of several university infrastructure projects and the laying of foundation stones for future facilities.The event was attended by Bhagirath Choudhary, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Prof. Anand Bhalerao, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Rajasthan, along with other dignitaries, faculty members, and students.In another event on the same day, Pradhan inaugurated a state-of-the-art lecture hall complex at Manipal University Jaipur.He praised the new facility, describing it as world-class and conducive to a modern learning environment, and congratulated the university's academic community on this achievement.The minister commended Manipal University for effectively blending India's timeless cultural heritage with modern educational values.Referring again to NEP 2020, he emphasised that India's ancient knowledge systems are now being meaningfully integrated into the contemporary academic framework, fostering a sense of rooted-ness and national pride among students.Calling Rajasthan a symbol of India's glorious past, Minister Pradhan said it must now become a beacon of a future-ready and developed India.He envisioned institutions like Manipal University evolving into centers of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, transforming students into job creators rather than job seekers.Expressing confidence in the university's potential, the minister said Manipal University Jaipur is well-positioned to address both local and global challenges, and can make significant contributions to the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision Encouraging the university's leadership, Minister Pradhan recommended the establishment of a dedicated research park to further boost its culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, reinforcing its ambition to become a premier research-driven institution.

The DMK accused the BJP of attempting to suppress Tamil identity, history and culture, and had its students' wing mount protests demanding the report's release. The contentions hark back to 2017, when Ramakrishna was transferred to Guwahati and the ASI conducted one more season of excavation before stopping work at the site. The next seven seasons of digging were conducted by the state archaeological department.

After Decades of Delay, 320 Model Mill Workers' Families to Finally Get Permanent Homes
1 2 3 Nagpur: Bringing an end to a decades-long struggle, 320 families residing in the historic Model Mill workers' colony in Ganeshpeth are finally set to receive ownership of permanent homes, thanks to years of persistent follow-up by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and support from the state govt. The workers' settlement, one of Vidarbha's only mill colonies, has been home to generations of families since the mill's inception. Though efforts for its redevelopment began years ago, the project repeatedly stalled, most significantly during 2007–2012, when the then state govt reduced the Floor Space Index (FSI), shrinking redevelopment scope. Gadkari, along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and former Mayor Archana Dehankar, relentlessly pursued the issue to secure increased FSI and govt clearance. Following submission of a fresh proposal by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), a special govt notification was issued between 2022 and 2024, approving redevelopment on one acre of the 3.16-acre land parcel. Construction for 320 families was sanctioned along with the required FSI enhancement. Recently, the appointed contractor received map approval, setting the stage for the project to begin. "We must get a written commitment from the contractor to finish construction within 22 months. A formal agreement should be signed," Gadkari advised workers' representatives during their meeting to express gratitude. Former Mayor Dehankar was also lauded by the colony's representatives for her two-decade-long support. BJP city president Dayashankar Tiwari, along with local leaders Prithviraj Shambharkar, Mohan Banaith, Deepak Banaith, Keshav Shrote, and others, were present during the meeting. This long-pending rehabilitation, now on firm ground, marks a significant urban justice milestone for one of Nagpur's most neglected working-class communities, as per the families.

Union min launches gharial conservation plan at Katarniaghat
Bahraich: Union minister for environment, forest and climate change, Bhupender Yadav , inaugurated the Gharial Species Conservation Programme by releasing seven young gharials into the Gerua river in Katarniaghat wildlife sanctuary. The event marked a significant step in the conservation of the critically endangered reptile species. During a boat safari, the minister observed dolphins, otters, and gharials in their natural habitat. He described the experience as "unforgettable" and praised Katarniaghat as a unique blend of grasslands, woodlands, and flowing river landscapes, offering breathtaking natural beauty. Yadav emphasized the ecological importance of forests and wildlife, calling them the "natural heritage of the Earth" that help maintain ecological balance and enrich human life. He highlighted India's rich biodiversity and called for community-based conservation approaches. During his visit to Dudhwa tiger reserve and interactions with public representatives, forest officials, NGOs, and villagers, the minister received 25–30 suggestions for improving forest and wildlife conservation. He announced that these suggestions would be incorporated into a comprehensive action plan aimed at reducing human-wildlife conflict and ensuring sustainable coexistence. Yadav also reiterated the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for community-driven development and healthy environments. He urged the public to contribute to environmental preservation by planting at least one tree in their name. The minister held discussions with members of the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF), distributed jungle patrol kits, and was shown a documentary on Katarniaghat. He also participated in a session on innovative community engagement strategies to involve local communities in forest and tribal conservation efforts. Key topics during the presentation by the divisional forest officer (DFO) included human-wildlife conflict mitigation, community engagement strategies, wildlife rescue operations, CSR based lighting installations in forest-adjacent areas. The minister concluded his visit by touring the NIC facility and signing the feedback wall, affirming the govt commitment to preserving India's unique ecosystems. Senior officials including principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife) Anuradha Vemuri, additional principal chief conservator (project tiger) Lalit Verma, and Dudhwa field director H. Rajamohan were present on the occasion.
