There is a heavy police presence at Mount Saint Vincent University in Bedford as Halifax Regional Police investigate a weapons complaint.
The university is under lockdown and people are being asked to avoid the area.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP were called to the Catalyst Pulp and Paper Mill around 12 p.m. A piece of heavy equipment fell into the ocean with its operator trapped inside, police said. Lawyer who attacked 80-year-old with knife in Deep Cove pleads guilty

Alexander Currie admitted to attacking the senior on May 25, 2024, slashing his motorcycle helmet and narrowly missing causing him serious injury. On Wednesday, he entered guilty pleas to assault with a weapon, uttering threats and mischief. Currie had initially been charged with attempted murder. 0:56 Knife-wielding North Vancouver man facing charges after Deep Cove incident The court heard that he was having a manic episode at the time of the attack. Currie has a history of mental illness, but hadn't suffered an episode in 17 years. Weapons charges laid in fatal 2024 Langley shooting

But the accused isn't facing a charge of murder or manslaughter. Barinder Singh Dhaliwal, 41, of Langley, was arrested on June 3 'for his alleged involvement in the shooting,' the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said on Wednesday. He has now been charged with possession of a loaded firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.' 2:04 Couple assaulted in alleged road rage case at Tim Hortons drive thru The charges come nine months after Johnathan Hebrada-Walters, 38, of Edmonton, was gunned down near 196 Street and 84 Avenue in Langley.
