Andrew Lloyd Webber shares safety fears over Rachel Zegler's Evita stunt

Andrew Lloyd Webber has weighed in on the row surrounding Rachel Zegler's balcony performance in Evita.
The Hollywood star is currently starring as Eva Perón in Jamie Lloyd's new production of Evita at the London Palladium, but one of the most iconic scenes of the show has sparked controversy.
A highlight of the musical – which is based on the real life of the Argentine political leader Eva, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón – sees Eva sing Don't Cry For Me Argentina as she addresses the crowds from the balcony of the Casa Rosada.
In this version of Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's show, Zegler has been belting out the ballad on a balcony outside the Palladium, with theatregoers inside watching on a screen.
Now, theatre icon Lloyd Webber has addressed the drama, and admitted he has some concerns about the backlash rather than the artistic choice itself.
'Rachel Zelger is absolutely amazing in it. I'm only a little bit worried that it might get out of hand,' he said on Friday's Good Morning Britain.
'The crowds now turning up outside the Palladium, now the audience in the theatre sees the crowd outside, and it's kinda like the real deal,' he added.
Fans have pointed out that Jamie Lloyd's production choice actually mirrors Eva's kinship with the poor people in Argentina.
With so many people gathering each night now to catch the unique West End moment, Lloyd Webber is worried that there could come a point where they need to stop.
He said: 'But, I don't know, you just hope it doesn't become such a big thing that we're not allowed to do it.'

The balcony stunt has caused uproar among some attendees, who have expressed how 'disappointed' they would be after paying to see the show, only to not actually see one of Evita's pivotal scenes in the flesh.
Theatrewithmaila wrote on Instagram: 'So excited to see her, but not sure how I feel about paying £££ and one of the most iconic songs performed isnt even on stage. (sic)'
Others said they were 'very unimpressed' and 'fuming' by the decision, arguing that Zegler wouldn't receive 'her biggest applause' from the audience because of it.
However, some people pointed out the decision was a smart move given the nature of the show.

Meanwhile, Metro's music expert Danni Scott got a first hand experience of the balcony performance and admitted it changed her mind.
'As a child, I only saw one West End show; had that been this production of Evita, I'd have been devastated to miss out on the big number,' she wrote.
'However, having seen Rachel perform Don't Cry For Me Argentina on the balcony of the London Palladium, my feelings have changed. I realised it was exactly people in my position growing up that she was singing for.'

Beat this weekend's heatwave to binge all 8 episodes of 'tear-jerking' thriller
This weekend is set to be a scorcher, with temperatures tippling over the 30 degree water mark. So what better way to beat the heat than set up in front of a fan with a good binge watch? Amazon Prime Video has just the thing after this week dropping all eight episodes of the hotly anticipated summer thriller We Were Liars. Based on E Lockhart's bestseller, which did numbers on BookTok, this glossy adaptation is a summer vibes machine with a twist you'll never see coming. We can't talk about that big spoiler-y final reveal, which has been one of the book's biggest talking points since it was published over a decade ago. The show's central mystery swirls around rich young thing Cadence Sinclair, played by Emily Alyn Lind, who is retreading her memories of the previous summer after she half-drowned and had no recollection of what happened. 'Something terrible happened last summer,' our heroine Cady tells us via voiceover, which is peppered throughout the show. 'I have no memory of what or who hurt me.' Set on the family's private isle Beechwood, near the Kennedy stronghold Martha's Vineyard, this is The Summer I Turned Pretty meets a near-murder mystery, which is already ranking at the second spot on Prime Video's ranking of most popular film and TV. The novel's author was also an executive producer on the show and teased – spoiler free – the pacing of the show and how they kept the audience who had not read the book guessing. Lockhart told Deadline: 'We want[ed] to stretch out the suspense a little bit and give each, each of the liars their own experience of that big event.' The breathy voiceover can sound like Carrie Bradshaw's column word salad when you really tune into what she's quite repetitively saying. But whenever you start to feel bogged down in the so-so teen melodrama, some big reveal will come from another corner of the show to pull you back in. This is the show's strength: it moves at a clip and there is always something barmy happening to one of the Sinclairs. Unlike the best eat-the-rich mysteries, this is painfully lacking in the laughs department and probably takes itself a bit too seriously. But you won't regret sticking around for the final reveal to plug the gap in Cady's memory: it's so bonkers it's beyond the guessing game. Madonna slammed for controversial behaviour during Broadway musical
A Broadway star has slammed Madonna for her behaviour in the audience while she attended a Hamilton performance a decade ago. The Hung Up singer, 66, has been criticised in a new interview by actor Anthony Ramos, 33, who starred in the original 2015 cast of Hamilton. Anthony played the dual role of John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton in the hit Broadway musical, created and written by Oscar nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda. In the play, Phillip, the titular character Alexander Hamilton's son, is tragically killed in a duel. It's one of the more emotional moments of the historical story. However, one audience member who was apparently unmoved during the show was the Queen of Pop herself, with Anthony calling her out in fresh comments. Speaking to Watch What Happens Live, the Broadway star revealed he was left feeling particularly unhappy by one aspect of the Hung Up hitmaker's behaviour. He was asked by the show's host Andy Cohen, 'Who was the most terrifying celebrity to spot in the audience during your Hamilton days?' and he didn't mince words. 'The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face. She was like this the whole time,' he replied, as he mimicked holding a tablet device in his hands. He continued: 'I was like, 'Damn, shorty. If you're not enjoying [the show] that much, you know the door's right there. You ain't gotta stay here.'' The tale drew awkward laughs from host Andy and a few members of the live studio audience, with Anthony's frank response catching a few people off guard. In 2015, Lin-Manuel himself tweeted: 'Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage. No selfie for you.' Fans instantly began speculating as to who the celebrity could be, which resulted in Lin-Manuel taking the tweet down, and another tweet from someone in the audience only fuelled those fires further. Casey Erin Clark, a stage performer and singer, said: 'That time you want to smack Madonna upside the head for texting during the best show I've ever seen.' Jonathan Groff, 40, who played King George III, said he was not disappointed at all that Madonna had allegedly been disinvited from any backstage parties. 'That b***h was on her phone,' he said to Dot249. 'You couldn't miss it from the stage. It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone.' More Trending Months after the incident, Jonathan insisted that the Die Another Day singer had been using her device 'through three quarters of the show'. At the time, Madonna's publicist stated to Us Weekly that the rumours about the Papa Don't Preach singer were not true: 'It's not true. She was invited backstage four different times.
