Krishnagiri Collector calls for speedy completion of UGD Phase II works

During a review of various project works underway in the Krishnagiri Municipality, District Collector C. Dinesh Kumar, while inspecting Phase II of the Underground Drainage Project, directed the implementing agency to expedite works.
The collector inspected the phase II of the underground drainage project and the solid waste management and treatment plant project under implementation at a cost of ₹49.86 crore here.
Of the 33 wards in Krishnagiri, the UGD works have been completed in 14 wards spanning a length of 42.96 km.
The sewerage collection infrastructure entails pipelines of 110 diameter to 450 diameter of PVC and HDPE pipelines spanning a length of 52.09 km already laid, along with 2,481 mechanised drain pits. The sewage is then collected in three soak pits and is treated in a sewage treatment plant of 9 MLD capacity near Devasamuthiram lake. The treated sewage is then safely released into Devasamuthiram lake, according to the project plan.
As of date, works upto 6.41 km distance have been completed and the officials have been instructed to expedite the works.
Mr. Dinesh Kumar also inspected the solid waste management plant here. In Krishnagiri municipality, in the 4 zones, about 22.9 mt of solid waste is collected. This includes 12 mts of degradable waste and 10.9 mts of non-biodegradable waste.
Similarly, the municipality is setting up a biomethanation plant to convert waste into power at a project cost of ₹1.70 crore. The Collector inspected the works underway under the three main projects and instructed officials to expedite them.

Paderu (ASR District): Alluri Sitarama Raju district collector AS Dinesh Kumar has directed officials to set up shade nets at weekly markets (Shandies) in agency villages to protect people from the scorching summer heat. During the 'Meekosam' public grievance redressal forum held at the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) office on Friday, the collector, along with other officials, received petitions from the public. Addressing the gathering, collector Dinesh Kumar said that the region is experiencing extremely high temperatures. He asked officials to raise awareness among the public about heat wave precautions. He also instructed them to establish drinking water kiosks in villages and set up shade nets in weekly markets with the help of contractors. Additionally, he recommended setting up medical camps at these markets. The collector further directed the District Water Management Agency (DWMA) officials to complete ongoing rainwater harvesting projects promptly. He advised planting saplings along roadsides, around schools, and in the premises of government offices to enhance greenery. The collector also instructed officials to build water tanks for cattle and promote the PM Suryagarh Solar Power Scheme among the public. To ensure a clean environment, the Collector called for a strict ban on the use of single-use plastics. He also stressed the implementation of the 'Swarnandhra Swachhandhra' cleanliness drive on the third Saturday of every month. Joint Collector Dr MJ Abhishek Gowda, DRO K Padma Latha and other officials participated in the event. During the forum, women from Hattaguda village in Araku Valley mandal submitted a petition requesting the issuance of forest rights certificates. In Makavaram Panchayat of Munchingiputtu mandal, locals sought compensation for the damage to cashew orchards caused by recent rains. Residents of Arabiru village in Munchingiputtu mandal complained about the inconvenience caused by a nearby stone crusher and requested its closure. Residents of Tenkabuddi village in Ananthagiri mandal, led by G Apparao and S Chinnayya, requested the construction of a WBM road from Krishnapuram to Tenkabuddi. District Medical and Health Officer Dr Jamal Basha, Deputy Director of Tribal Welfare L Rajani, ITDA Administrative Officer M Hemalatha, Rural Water Supply Engineer Jawahar Kumar, Divisional Panchayat Officer PS Kumar, and CPO SNRK Patnaik and others participated.

House patta issued to family of Class 12 student with disability in Krishnagiri

Krishnagiri District Collector C. Dinesh Kumar handed over an order granting a free patta to the mother of A. Kriti Varma, a disabled Class 12 student who had scored high marks in the recently concluded Plus Two examinations. The order was issued to his mother Kasthuri for a 1.5-cent plot at Jeenur village in Marasandhiram, where the family stays. Last week, the family had appealed to the Chief Minister for a limb transplant for Mr. Kriti, who lost both his hands elbow down and a few toes after he suffered an electric shock at age four. Mr. Stalin had promised him a limb transplant two years ago after he emerged as a topper in the SSLC exams. Ms. Kasthuri had also sought a free house patta from the administration.

Tilapia hatchlings released in KRP reservoir

The district administration released 28,800 fish hatchlings in KRP reservoir to prepare for the second harvest season on Tuesday. Earlier, Collector C. Dinesh Kumar inspected the government fish farm with KRP reservoir compound, where the large fish varieties that include Amur fish (Grass Carp), Gift Tilapia are being reared. For the year 2024-25, 268 tonnes of Tilapia fish was harvested in the reservoir with 20.67 lakh hatchlings reared, according to the administration. Under the Prime Minister's Fisheries Expansion Programme for 2020-21, and under the Integrated Fisheries Development Scheme, the Department of Fisheries and Fishers Welfare is rearing fish at a cost of ₹131.65 lakh in the reservoir. This includes setting up 24 floating fish breeder boxes, in which genetically modified Tilapia fish is being bred. A targeted harvest of 12 tonnes of fish was envisaged for the first season. As of date, 3 tonnes of fish was harvested and 3 more tonnes of fish is slated to be harvested by May end. In preparation for the second harvest season, over 28,800 tonnes of fish hatchlings were released in the reservoir by Collector Dinesh Kumar, in the presence of Deputy Director of Fisheries, Dharmapuri C. Subramanian.
