Just a short walk from Pearse train station, which is frequently used by the DART and Rosslare Europort services, the playground and the surrounding area are the ideal day out spot for the family.
The highlight for visitors is the large, restored play area with wooden and secured equipment - and it's open for the majority of the day all year round.
The underrated spot has been praised as one of the best in Dublin by the locals, and it is based on the famous Oscar Wilde story The Selfish Giant.
Oscar spent most of his life on Merrion Square, which sparked the council to dedicate the restored play area in his honour.
Within the park, the equipment is wooden and there are two play areas for older kids and one for tots, ensuring that all kids won't be left out of the fun.
For toddlers, the play area has two baby swings, a basket swing, a small slide and a balancing unit.
While the older kids can enjoy using the two normal swings and the gigantic multiplay unit that symbolises the Giant of the garden.
Parents can enjoy a lovely walk in the park that is full of gorgeous flower beds and sculptures, including the colourful statue of Oscar Wilde, after the kids are done playing at the play area.
Throughout the park, there are loads of benches and picnic areas for the family to relax and eat their meals before moving on.
Every Thursday, there is a lunchtime market in the park that runs from 11.30 to 2pm, offering a vast selection of delicious treats and lunches.
And on Sundays, the park railings turn into an Open Air Art Gallery where several artists exhibit and sell their own works.
In the area, there is the Natural History Museum and the National Gallery of Ireland, ensuring the visitors won't be stuck for things to do.
And the best thing is that the history museum is free of entry, meaning you wouldn't have to pay a single dime for your little excursion with the family.
RAVING REVIEWS

One person wrote: "Great park! Lots of natural beauty, landscape, sculptures, etc.

Irish tourists slapped with worrying Greek wildfires warning
Irish tourists currently in or travelling to Greece have been issued with a rather worrying warning from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). Wildfires have wreaked havoc in tourist destinations popular amongst Irish holidaymakers. Dozens of people in various parts of the country have been hospitalised as a result of smoke inhalation. Tourist hotspots including Athens have been labelled as "high risk". Zante, Kefalonia and Chios, which are popular destinations for Irish tourists have been severely affected by the blazes. There have also been evacuations in several parts of the country. The current blistering heatwave throughout much of southern Europe is contributing to the spread of the wildfires in Greece. There have also been wildfires in parts of Spain; Turkey; Albania and Portugal. Three people have died as a result. The current warning on the DFA website reads: "Greece is currently facing several wildfires following high summer temperatures and subsequent heatwaves. The risk of wildfires is expected to intensify in the coming weeks. (Image: AFP via Getty Images) "In the case of a wildfire, the authorities will issue notifications regarding evacuations via the 112 message service to all mobile phones in the area. These will be provided in both English and Greek, and we would ask citizens to follow any advice received from local authorities. "Stay fully informed of what is going on by monitoring local news and social media. Call the Greek Emergency Services on 112 if in immediate danger," the DFA added. Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-30s in Greece for the next several days at least. Wall to wall sunshine is also forecast which will hinder the authorities as they attempt to battle the blazes. "Winds are strong and the wildfire is out of control," Zakynthos mayor Yiorgos Stasinopoulos told Greek public broadcaster ERT. Irish TikTok creator to 'rebrand' after toy giants u-turn on law suit
The Irish creator behind Sylvaniandrama has confirmed that the channel will be rebranded after a lawsuit against her was dropped. Thea Von Engelbrechten is the mastermind behind one of TikTok's most popular parody channels Sylvaniandrama. Her videos were widely beloved on social media for their unhinged skits involving the little animal families: parodying everything from kidnapping, drug abuse, to divorce. However, fans were confused when the channel suddenly went quiet several months ago. It then came to light that Thea was being sued been sued in the US by Epoch, the Japanese toy and computer games company behind Sylvanian Families over her videos. The company claimed that Von Engelbrechten's videos had caused 'irreparable injury' to their reputation. Thea, from Kildare, was just 19 when she started the channel back in 2021 – and the videos quickly skyrocketed in popularity. She currently has over 2.5 million followers on TikTok and one million on Instagram. However, they also eventually caught the attention of Epoch Company Ltd., the Japanese toy and video game company who own Sylvanian Families. The toy giant wasn't impressed (Image: Sylvaniandrama/TikTok) Epoch filed a lawsuit against the creator, claiming the videos could confuse potential purchasers of Sylvanian Families toys into believing that they have been produced or authorised by Epoch. They were suing her over issues pertaining to copyright – including 'creating, publishing, and disseminating online advertising videos' on the back of brand deals with companies like Marc Jacobs and Burberry. A pre-trial conference was set for August 14, where the legal teams from both sides were to meet to explore settlement options or prepare the case for trial. However, Epoch has since dropped its suit against the skit creator. On August 8, the company voluntarily dismissed all claims "without prejudice," with each side covering its own legal costs. On the same day, Thea posted on Instagram: "Hi guys, on the 19th August I will be changing the name and profile picture of this account. I'm not sure what to change it to yet so please let me know if you have any suggestions". Fans flooded the comments with suggestions of what the channel could be renamed to. Popular suggestions included "notsylvaniandrama", "CancelledCritters" and "Desperate Mousewives". Previously, news of the lawsuit had caused fan uproar on social media, with many believing that the videos actually helped promote Sylvanians online. TikTok account @junk_mom posted: 'Imagine if every little girl that ever posted a video on YouTube making her stuffed animals talk to each other was sued by the corporation that made those stuffed animals.' She continued to say that Sylvaniandrama 'opened up a lot of new people to the Sylvanian toys.' 'Sylvanian drama is literally doing free advertising for them, that's so sad,' one comment added. 'Why sue her she's literally giving them customers,' another wrote. A third pointed out that many other people have also created channels around creating fake scenarios with popular toys. They wrote: "It's like the old videos on YouTube we'd watch as a kid of people doing the same thing with Barbie's... It's always been a thing." The Mirror has reached out to Epoch and Sylvaniandrama for comment. Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.
