'Abandoned' car bursts into flames after Glasgow crash as man charged
A car burst into flames after it was "abandoned" following a crash in Glasgow.
Police spotted the vehicle "allegedly driving at speed" along Govan Road in the early hours of Friday, July 18.
The vehicle later crashed on Harmony Row, with officers saying three occupants ran from the wreckage, reports Glasgow Live.
The vehicle then caught fire, however police confirmed there were no injuries.
An image from the scene shows massive flames coming from the scene where emergency crews raced to.
A 21-year-old man was later traced by officers nearby on Roseneath Street.
He was arrested and charged and appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.
Police say enquiries remain ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'At around 1.35am on Friday, 18 July, 2025 officers on patrol observed a vehicle allegedly driving at speed on Govan Road.
' Officers traced the vehicle which had crashed on Harmony Row. Three people from the car made off on foot from police.
'The vehicle caught fire when abandoned. Nobody was injured as a result.
'A 21-year-old man was traced by officers a short distance away on Roseneath Street and arrested. He has been charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, 18 July.
'Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.'

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 1.39am on Friday, 18 July, to reports of one vehicle on fire on Govan Road, Glasgow.
"Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene, where firefighters extinguished a fire affecting one car.
"There were no casualties and crews left the scene at 2.09am after ensuring the area was made safe."

The couple were arrested at 11:30am shortly after the plane landed at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, according to ABC affiliate WWSB. They were both charged with two counts lewd and lascivious exhibition in the presence of minors, which is a felony. The New York Post reports police records from Danbury, Connecticut, show 42-year-old Arnold was arrested in March for disorderly conduct and assault. JetBue told the Mirror that the alleged behaviour on the flight - from John F Kennedy International Airport in New York to Sarasota, Florida - was "completely unacceptable" and is "not tolerated" by the airline. She said: 'I entered the ring road and saw a burst of flame, without understanding what had happened. "I had a truck in front of me and I crashed into it, passing through the flames. Then there was a loud bang, it was a ball of fire. I never thought something like this could happen to me. "At the time, I assumed the truck in front of me had lost something; I had no idea it was a plane. I had seen it in the air before, but I realized later. For twenty seconds, it missed me too."

Woman killed in crash near Inverness airport named as driver remains in critical condition
Alison Campbel died at the scene near Inverness Airport following a crash between a car and a van. A woman who died following a crash between a car and van near Inverness Airport has been named as 65-year-old Alison Campbell. The crash happened at around 3.30pm on Tuesday, July 22, on the A96 Inverness to Nairn road approximately one mile east of the airport roundabout, and involved a red Vauxhall Insignia car and a white Ford Transit Tipper van. Alison, the passenger in the car, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, a 69-year-old man, was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where medical staff describe his condition as critical. The driver of the van was uninjured. Teen rapist jailed for seven years after after horrific campaign of abuse
Kyle Jackson, from Paisley, has been described by police as 'a dangerous man" after he carried out horrifying crimes across a number of years. A Scots teenager who carried out a series of serious sexual crimes over a two-year period has been jailed for seven years. Kyle Jackson, 19, from Paisley, was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, July 23, after being found guilty of rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. His campaign of abuse against multiple victims took place between September 2020 and October 2022. Jackson was convicted following a major police investigation and a trial at the High Court in Paisley last month. The court also handed him a non-harassment order, designed to protect his victims from further harm. Detective Sergeant Jonathan Campbell, who led the investigation, described Jackson as 'a dangerous man who carried out these horrifying crimes across a number of years.' He added: 'This outcome was made possible thanks to the victims who came forward and reported him and I commend them for the strength they have shown during the investigation and court proceedings.
