Palace beat Liverpool on penalties to clinch the Comunnity Shield
Liverpool made the perfect start. Inside four minutes, Hugo Ekitike, making his debut, played a neat one-two with Florian Wirtz down the left before cutting inside and bending a crisp low strike into the far corner.
Palace replied in the 17th minute when Virgil van Dijk brought down Ismaila Sarr in the area. Jean-Philippe Mateta stepped up and slotted the penalty past Alisson to make it 1–1.
Their joy was short-lived, though, as just four minutes later Jeremie Frimpong's looping cross from the right evaded Dean Henderson and found the net, restoring Liverpool's lead.
After the break, the tempo dipped but the Eagles grew into the game. Their persistence paid off with 13 minutes to go when Sarr raced onto Adam Wharton's precise pass, surged into the box and curled a clever finish inside the near post to send the contest to penalties.
In the shootout, Salah missed the opener for Liverpool, sending it over the bar. Henderson then denied Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott, while Alisson kept out Eberechi Eze's spot-kick and debutant Borna Sosa struck the crossbar. That set the stage for substitute Justin Devenny, who blasted home the winner to seal the Shield for Palace at their first attempt.
For Oliver Glasner's side, it's another trophy in the cabinet and a confidence-boosting start to the new campaign.

Sam Williams' Pick-6 Late in practice, working on goal-line situations, Dak Prescott was intercepted by defensive end Sam Williams. Mike Vrabel: Kyle Dugger has to keep working, keep progressing
Changes to the lineup are inevitable when a team makes a coaching change and one of the potential tweaks in New England involves safety Kyle Dugger. Dugger was a starter for most of his first five seasons with the Patriots and he's still listed as a starter on their depth chart, but the unofficial nature of that chart has been made clear by the team's look in practice. Jabrill Peppers, Jaylinn Hawkins, and Craig Woodson have been the top safeties in recent practices for New England while Dugger works with the second team. On Wednesday, head coach Mike Vrabel noted that Dugger had offseason ankle surgery and that other players have made a strong case for first-team time while discussing what Dugger has to do in order to climb back up the ladder. "I think just making sure that he's where he needs to be and understanding the coverage concepts and everything we do," Vrabel said. "Keep working and keep progressing. A lot of this is the guys that have earned a right to take a look with that first unit, and again, there'll be different lineups and different things, so just focus on the reps that you get. Right now, his attitude's been great, and he's had a long recovery in the offseason. He's been out there, and he's continued to get better and work, and I think the more that he practices, the better he's going to feel and the more that it's going to translate onto the football field." If Dugger is not able to reclaim his old spot, the Patriots could look to move him to a team that would offer him a starting role as they put together their roster for Vrabel's first year running the show in New England.

By Milly McEvoy England rugby star Sadia Kabeya is ready to have fun as the Red Roses seek global glory on home soil. The 23-year-old is set to embark on a second major tournament with England, having burst onto the scene in 2021. The undeniable best team in the world, England have external expectations to lift silverware this summer but Kabeya's aims are different from that. 'For me, it is hard because I have always played for the enjoyment, and I think it is natural in any professional sport for you to have ups and downs,' she explained, as part of a new LG OLED TV collaboration ahead of this summer. 'But I just want to be able to play with so much fun, and that is how I want people to see me on the pitch. 'I don't have to play rugby because I want to be fast, I want to hit somebody, I want to play rugby because Sadia has so much fun, and I want to have that much fun. 'I think in professional sport you lose that, and I want to gain that back and be that for someone watching, that would be amazing.' Kabeya was a new face to the England team in New Zealand three years ago, when the Red Roses were beaten by the hosts in the final. Since then, she has established herself as one of the most reliable members of the back row, but with that comes more pressure. She added: 'The first time for me was a whirlwind. I was fresh into the squad, and it was a huge experience for me. 'I think this time it means that bit more, being at home and being a bit more cemented in the squad. To be able to hopefully represent my country at home would mean a lot. 'Three years ago was a baptism by fire. We played in record crowds at the time, and to play in that at 19 years old, the biggest stage for rugby, it taught me to deal with those crowds and with those big pressure moments. 'In a team like England, you are used to winning, but when you go to a big tournament, everything is different, everyone is on their A game, so I think what I have taken from those times is how to deal with those big pressure situations.'
