Taylor Swift reveals awkward dilemma when meeting Prince William with Travis Kelce

When Prince William and his children Prince George and Princess Charlotte met the popstar, there was one big dilemma Swift and her famous boyfriend encountered
Taylor Swift has recalled a major issue she ran into when she met Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte backstage at her Eras Tour show in London.

In June 2024, the American singer met the royal family at Wembley Arena, alongside her football player boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason.

The Wales' took a selfie with Taylor backstage before the show, and she posted it to social media with the caption: "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start". The star tagged Prince William in the post, acknowledging his birthday that fell on the same day as the sold-out concert. It comes after Kate Middleton halts her summer break to release new video with emotional statement.

Now one year on from the iconic moment, Taylor, Travis and Jason discussed the royal meeting on the Kelce brother's New Heights podcast, with Swift as the surprise guest on the episode.
Taylor Swift said, as the trio discussed their trip to London: "Wasn't this the week I got to watch Jason meet the Royal Family? I watched him have this moment with his beer where he was like, 'But I want to take it, but I know that I probably should not take it'. I watched this happen, and it kind of was the most amazing thing."
Jason replied: "I like that you picked up on it because that was exactly what was going through my head." He then asked: "Is it disrespectful to have a beer when you meet royalty?'
Taylor Swift replied: "Yeah, or is it authentic by having the beer? I would normally have the beer, wouldn't they want me to be myself? I'm watching you say that in your head."
According to a source at the time, Prince William had a 'nightmare' getting into the Wembley show with his children, who added that the family were running late to the gig and almost missed the concert entirely.

"They had a nightmare getting in, they were running really late but they had planned to get there earlier so they could have the meet and greet with Taylor beforehand because they knew they wanted to leave early," they told HELLO!.
"They only had 25 minutes to spare so had a quick meet and greet and then went up to their box before the show, and there was a bit of stress and panic about that because it was taking too long."

Thankfully, everything fell into place and William and his children were able to meet the superstar before taking their seats in the balcony area. As the concert drew to a close, the royals had to make an early exit, leaving ten minutes before the end of the show to avoid the rush of eager Swifties.
In the months after the Eras tour show in the UK, Travis Kelce's mother Donna lifted the lid on her son's royal meeting, saying how humbling the moment was for her footballer son.
Donna said: "He said that 'When you meet people like that, you know when the royals come in or Paul McCartney or Hugh Grant... you're just like, who in this picture doesn't fit? Why am I here and why am I even allowed to talk to these individuals? It just doesn't seem right.'"

Everything we learned from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast

Taylor Swift made her first appearance on partner Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast and whipped fans into a frenzy as she gave fans an insight into her personal life Taylor Swift has laid bare her Love Story as she dropped details of her hotly anticipated new album in a podcast chat with her boyfriend. The Bad Blood star whipped fans into a frenzy this week when she talked about her upcoming record, The Life of a Showgirl, on her NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce 's show. ‌ The loved-up couple gave their first joint interview, sharing intimate details of their life from how they got together and their first date to baking sourdough. The move was an unexpected one by Taylor, 35, who usually channels her private life through her music. ‌ Two years ago, Travis used his New Heights podcast to declare his interest in Taylor, and the singer said the Kansas City Chiefs star's 'wild, romantic' gesture won her over. 'This kind of felt more like I was in an 80s John Hughes movie and he was just like standing outside of my window with a boombox, just being like, I want to date you,' she said. ‌ 'I was like, if this guy isn't crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I have been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.' Proud Travis, 35, declared his love for her throughout the two-hour chat with his brother, Jason. He could not contain his excitement when she announced on the show her 12th studio album, which is out on October 3. Unveiling the artwork, Taylor is seen submerged in a bath while dressed in a bejewelled ensemble in the style of famous Las Vegas performers. Discussing how Taylor's record-breaking Eras tour, when she performed 149 shows in 51 cities, inspired the record, Travis said: 'She was literally living the life of a showgirl.' Writing the 12-track album on her days off between shows in Europe, Taylor said: 'I would do like three shows in a row. I would have three days off. I would fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and working on this, I was physically exhausted at this point, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.' ‌ She revealed the record is about the life beyond the show. 'I'd say it is everything that was going on behind the curtain,' she teased. 'I'm so proud of it. It just comes from the most infectiously joyful wild dramatic place I was in my life. The effervescence has come through on this record.' As one of the few people who have had a sneak listen, Travis said it was a departure from her last hit, The Tortured Poets Society, which reached 1.76billion streams. 'They are all 12 bangers,' he enthused. 'It is a lot more upbeat and it is a lot more like fun, pop, like excitement. And I think it is a complete 180 from a lot of the songs on Tortured Poets, for sure.' ‌ 'Oh, yeah, life is more upbeat,' agreed Taylor, who promised 'melodies that were so infectious that you are angry' at them and 'crisp, focused and intentional' lyrics. She has worked again with collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, who she teamed up with on albums Red, Reputation and 1989 and songs Shake It Off and Are You Ready? Taylor had been dropping hints for months about the record, including orange signs and numerical references. Fans had even rumbled her duet with Sabrina Carpenter on the album's title track after the pair posted matching coffee cup stains. Now they are busy trying to decipher other songs, including speculation that Ruin the Friendship could be inspired by a rumoured fallout between her and actress Blake Lively. ‌ The star got emotional when she opened up about buying back the rights to her first six albums, which she did in May, ending a long-running battle over the ownership of her music. 'I want this because it was my handwritten diary entries from my entire life,' she said. As the world gets ready to go wild again for Taylor, she has been enjoying a slower pace of life doing wholesome activities. 'I would say all my hobbies could be categorised as hobbies you could have had in the 1700s,' she laughed. 'I get all my granny s***. I like to sew. I specialise, as you know, in children's purses and baby blankets. I make two things. I love to paint. I love to cook. I've a different baking obsession every six months. 'Right now, we are very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken over my life. I am really talking about bread 60 per cent of the time now. I love making pop music and pop tarts.'

Metal band announce final album and farewell tour 43 years after forming

A thrash metal band credited with helping to develop and popularise the genre have announced they are retiring. Formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine, Megadeth are known as one of the 'big four' of American thrash metal alongside Slayer, Anthrax and Metallica. Their debut album had moderate success, but it was after signing with Capitol Records that the band took off. Some of their platinum-selling albums included So Far, So Good…So What, Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction. The line-up has changed several times over the years, with Mustaine the sole member of the band to remain throughout. The current members are also, bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari and drummer Dirk Verbeuren. However, this week Megadeth announced that their upcoming 17th studio album and 2026 tour would be their last. 'There's so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,' Mustaine, 63, said in a statement revealing the news about the band he began over 40 years ago. 'Most of them don't get to go out on their own terms on top, and that's where I'm at in my life right now. I have travelled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them. 'We can't wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. If there was ever a perfect time for us to put out a new album, it's now. If there was ever a perfect time to tour the world, it's now. This is also a perfect time for us to tell you that it's our last studio album. We've made a lot of friends over the years, and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour. Don't be mad, don't be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years.' The statement concluded with: 'We have done something together that's truly wonderful and will probably never happen again. We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it's played, and we changed the world. The bands I played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.' Megadeath was formed after Mustaine was kicked out of Metallica, the band he co-founded. They temporarily disbanded in 2002 but re-established two years later. Their most recent album, The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!, was released in 2022. As of 2023, the band has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. Their farewell tour dates are yet to be announced. Megadeth was noticeably absent from Black Sabbath's recent Back To The Beginning farewell concert. More Trending In an interview with Burn! magazine, LoMenzo was asked about the band being the only one of the traditional 'Big Four' that did not play. 'I'm going to let the cat out of the bag. The truth of the matter is, I don't believe that anybody asked us, which was fine,' he said. 'Not everybody gets invited to every party. But at the same time, when we were in Europe last week, David said that he was reaching out to everybody and telling them that we were in the neighbourhood and that we were close enough to come. And if they wanted us to, we could stay over for a few days and work it out…if they wanted us to. I don't know what our manager had accomplished with that, but it didn't get accomplished, so we just came home.' Got a story?
