Everything we learned from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast
Taylor Swift has laid bare her Love Story as she dropped details of her hotly anticipated new album in a podcast chat with her boyfriend. The Bad Blood star whipped fans into a frenzy this week when she talked about her upcoming record, The Life of a Showgirl, on her NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce 's show.
The loved-up couple gave their first joint interview, sharing intimate details of their life from how they got together and their first date to baking sourdough. The move was an unexpected one by Taylor, 35, who usually channels her private life through her music.
Two years ago, Travis used his New Heights podcast to declare his interest in Taylor, and the singer said the Kansas City Chiefs star's 'wild, romantic' gesture won her over. 'This kind of felt more like I was in an 80s John Hughes movie and he was just like standing outside of my window with a boombox, just being like, I want to date you,' she said.
'I was like, if this guy isn't crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I have been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.'
Proud Travis, 35, declared his love for her throughout the two-hour chat with his brother, Jason. He could not contain his excitement when she announced on the show her 12th studio album, which is out on October 3.
Unveiling the artwork, Taylor is seen submerged in a bath while dressed in a bejewelled ensemble in the style of famous Las Vegas performers. Discussing how Taylor's record-breaking Eras tour, when she performed 149 shows in 51 cities, inspired the record, Travis said: 'She was literally living the life of a showgirl.'
Writing the 12-track album on her days off between shows in Europe, Taylor said: 'I would do like three shows in a row. I would have three days off. I would fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and working on this, I was physically exhausted at this point, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.'
She revealed the record is about the life beyond the show. 'I'd say it is everything that was going on behind the curtain,' she teased. 'I'm so proud of it. It just comes from the most infectiously joyful wild dramatic place I was in my life. The effervescence has come through on this record.'
As one of the few people who have had a sneak listen, Travis said it was a departure from her last hit, The Tortured Poets Society, which reached 1.76billion streams.
'They are all 12 bangers,' he enthused. 'It is a lot more upbeat and it is a lot more like fun, pop, like excitement. And I think it is a complete 180 from a lot of the songs on Tortured Poets, for sure.'
'Oh, yeah, life is more upbeat,' agreed Taylor, who promised 'melodies that were so infectious that you are angry' at them and 'crisp, focused and intentional' lyrics. She has worked again with collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, who she teamed up with on albums Red, Reputation and 1989 and songs Shake It Off and Are You Ready?
Taylor had been dropping hints for months about the record, including orange signs and numerical references. Fans had even rumbled her duet with Sabrina Carpenter on the album's title track after the pair posted matching coffee cup stains.
Now they are busy trying to decipher other songs, including speculation that Ruin the Friendship could be inspired by a rumoured fallout between her and actress Blake Lively.
The star got emotional when she opened up about buying back the rights to her first six albums, which she did in May, ending a long-running battle over the ownership of her music.
'I want this because it was my handwritten diary entries from my entire life,' she said. As the world gets ready to go wild again for Taylor, she has been enjoying a slower pace of life doing wholesome activities.
'I would say all my hobbies could be categorised as hobbies you could have had in the 1700s,' she laughed. 'I get all my granny s***. I like to sew. I specialise, as you know, in children's purses and baby blankets. I make two things. I love to paint. I love to cook. I've a different baking obsession every six months.
'Right now, we are very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken over my life. I am really talking about bread 60 per cent of the time now. I love making pop music and pop tarts.'

Jared Goff opens up on 'crazy' Taylor Swift shoutout on viral New Heights episode that broke the internet
After he was name-dropped by Taylor Swift minutes into her highly anticipated appearance on New Heights, Jared Goff has broken his silence on the 'crazy' reaction he received to the shoutout. Swift used Goff in her analogy when describing her level of football knowledge when entering her first date with now-boyfriend Travis Kelce over two years ago. Kelce, who hosts New Heights with older brother Jason, were coming off of being competitors during the most recent Super Bowl when Swift began her romance with the tight end. Swift inquired on the date about Kelce's personal life and asked what it was like to compete in a Super Bowl against your brother five feet away from each other. She described it as Jared Goff and Josh Allen on the field at the same time. Of course, offenses do not play each other, with Swift realizing now how 'insane' her question was. It's safe to say she's learned a thing or two since about the Lions and Bills quarterbacks since beginning a relationship with one of the best tight ends of all-time. 'Yeah, pretty crazy, huh?' Goff said of the shoutout. 'Very cool I guess, it was a crazy couple hours last night for me and my phone.' 'It was a crazy couple of hours for me!' #Lions QB Jared Goff on being name dropped by Taylor Swift on last night's @newheightshow podcast. — Hobie Artigue (@HeyItsMeHobie) August 14, 2025 Swift's appearance on New Heights was so in demand that the channel's stream temporarily crashed on YouTube. During the episode, Swift briefly broke down in tears as she opened up on her long battle to reclaim her masters. She also lifted the lid on her whirlwind romance with Kelce, her father's recent heart surgery and her epic Eras Tour. And the NFL star quickly went viral after showering his girlfriend in compliments and affection. 'I'm the luckiest man in the world,' Kelce said repeatedly. The couple finished the episode with a kiss, after he was also seen holding and stroking Swift's hand and even kissing her head - much to the anger of some of the 1.3million fans who tuned in for the live stream. Travis also gushed over his girlfriend during the near-two-hour show on Wednesday night. 'I give the Eras Tour credit (for our relationship) because if I had never gone to that show and been mesmerized and captivated and left with such a desire to want to meet you, I would never have gone on here and told everyone how butt-hurt I was,' Kelce said. 'I have never been just so engulfed in the curiosity of who you were.' Goff was not mentioned again during the show. However, one mention shows the influence of Swift with the Lions star's phone ringing off the hook.

Taylor Swift fans are convinced pop superstar has secretly agreed to play the Super Bowl halftime show... here's why
One of the many topics Taylor Swift discussed in her appearance on boyfriend Travis Kelce 's podcast, New Heights, was her new obsession with baking sourdough. What if the 'Anti-Hero' singer is not actually referring to bread? Many of Swift's fans think her references to sourdough may be an Easter Egg itself. Swift has been known to foreshadow and drop ambiguous hints about future projects. It may be a clever way to try to distract her fan base while she interacted live with her NFL boyfriend for the first time and announced 'The Life of A Showgirl' from something maybe even bigger at play. The huge theory from Swifties is that the 14-time Grammy Award winner has already locked in being the halftime performer for Super Bowl 2026. One of the biggest hints, with the Super Bowl taking place at Levi's Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers is that the team's mascot is Sourdough Sam. Not to mention, Swift's lucky number is 13. Simple addition in the Bay Area NFL team's two-digit nickname equals that baker's dozen. During New Height's co-host Jason Kelce's bombastic introduction of his brother's girlfriend, she emphasized how many countries on the 'Eras Tour' she visited - 47. The 47th show of her tour was at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Swift has made a big deal about numerology since the start of her career, hence why her 12th studio album has exactly 12 songs on it, with the title track being the final song of the record. Another clue for Swift's diehard fan base is in between Swift and Kelce during her New Heights appearance - a replica of the Lombardi Trophy, handed out to the winner of the Super Bowl annually. Swift has been popular enough, and had the music catalog for several years to get the most coveted spot in music, with the NFL expected to announce who succeeds Kendrick Lamar over the next several weeks. The 35-year-old was in exile from the Super Bowl while Pepsi sponsored the halftime show due to her brand deal with rival Coca-Cola. Now, Apple Music is in charge of the spectacle. Should Swift be the choice, it would be the first time the halftime performer has a chance to be romantically involved with a participant in the biggest game in sports. The 'Karma is the guy on the Chiefs' riff on her own lyrics would have new meaning if Kelce had already played two quarters of a Super Bowl listening in a nearby locker room. And would Swift be able to perform with the emotions of watching her beau play in such a prestigious game? Many fans thought Swift would wait for the Tennessee Titans new stadium to open so she could get the halftime show in her hometown of Nashville. Now, we could be a few months away from Swift jumping to the front of the line.
