Tribute for Summah after scooter tragedy
High school student Summah Richards has been remembered for having a smile that could light up a room.
Summah, 12, was riding her e-scooter in the quiet town of Laidley in rural Queensland before a tragic collision took her life about 3pm on Saturday.
According to the police, initial investigations indicated that both vehicles were travelling south on Vaux Street and around 3pm the rider of the scooter fell into the path of a grey Holden Barina on Vaux Street.
Police said Summah was declared dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the Holden Barina were not injured.
Stacey Ardrey, the best friend of Summah's mother, has remembered Summah as 'a remarkable young girl with such a vibrant spirit'.
'Summah was the kind of soul who could light up any room simply by being in it,' she said in a fundraiser for the family.
'Her playful nature was contagious, always ready to laugh, and bring joy to those around her.
'Whether she was popping up from behind a corner which she did often and with a mischievous grin or throwing herself into an adventure with pure excitement, Summah's bright energy was boundless.'

'Her love wasn't just seen, it was felt,' Ms Ardrey said.
'With her big brown eyes, full of wonder and kindness, she made everyone feel special.
'Summah's ability to show love so freely and authentically left a lasting impact on all who were lucky enough to know her.'
The loss of Summah has rocked the community.
The GoFundMe campaign created by Ms Ardrey has already surpassed its goal.
The excess money over the goal will be used to facilitate time off for Summah's mum Teigan, Ms Ardrey said.
Toys and flowers have been placed at the crash site and Ms Ardrey said Summah 'will forever be remembered'.
'She will always be the playful, loving soul who brought light into every room,' she said.
'Summah sweet angel, you will forever be remembered and felt in our hearts.
'Your wild sense of humour will be missed but never forgotten.
'A mother's love will never end.'
The investigation into the tragedy is ongoing.

Driver accused of fatal Mustang crash in Truganina, Melbourne granted bail
A man accused of being behind the wheel of a Mustang which hit the back of a parked semi-trailer, killing his passenger, has been released on provisional bail. Vikramjeet Singh, 23, allegedly hit the unoccupied vehicle on Dunmore Dr at Truganina, in Melbourne's west, about 1am last Wednesday. Singh was granted bail with a $25,000 surety. He must report to police twice a week and is not allowed to leave Victoria or drive any sort of motor vehicle. Outside the court Singh's lawyer Hayden Rattray said: 'Mr Singh asked me to express his condolences to the family of the young woman who passed away'. A GoFundMe has been set up to help Kaur's family. In the fundraiser she was described as a 'kind and vibrant student'. 'Her sudden passing has deeply affected her friends and family, both here and in India. Arshdeep came to Australia with big dreams that ended far too soon.' Singh will face court again in November.

Pheobe Bishop: Donations flood in after fundraising page set up in memory of the Bundaberg teen
A fundraiser has been set up in memory of Pheobe Bishop, after police confirmed they discovered human remains in their search for the missing 17-year-old. A message shared on the official GoFundMe page says that in honour of Pheobe's memory, the proceeds will be donated to support services such as the SES, who 'volunteer their time without reimbursement and have played an integral part of finding missing loved ones in our community.' Funds will also be donated to the Y School in Bundaberg, where Pheobe attended. 'On May 15, 2025, our world was shattered when Pheobe Bishop, a bright, kind-hearted, and deeply loved young woman, was taken from us far too soon. Her life was tragically cut short, and those responsible are now in custody,' a message on the page reads. 'Pheobe had a gentle soul and a generous spirit — always caring for others and standing up for what was right. We want her legacy to live on by paying it forward to the amazing volunteers and community. 'All funds raised will be donated to these carefully chosen community groups that work to support our Wide Bay community. 'This is more than a fundraiser — this is a tribute to a beautiful life, and a call to action to protect the most vulnerable in our communities.' Pheobe's mother, Kylie Johnson, shared the fundraising page on her Facebook on Saturday, supporting the decision to give back to the community 'in honour of Phee.'
