Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said the MP filed a police report on July 30 after the suspect uploaded a video on his Facebook account 'Mohd Syahrizal', purportedly without the complainant's knowledge or permission. Azam said the suspect, 43, had explicitly mentioned the MP's name in his posting which was allegedly malicious in nature. The MP claimed this had exposed him to harm and threats. 'The posting drew various negative comments from Facebook users, causing stress and harming the complainant's reputation and mental and psychological well-being. The complainant felt threatened and fearful because of the actions of the owner of the Facebook account. 'The suspect used to serve as a personal assistant to the complainant,' Azam said in a statement. The suspect was arrested in Pasir Mas at around 11.30am on Friday. Police also confiscated two handphones. Checks found that the man had a criminal record but was not wanted. The suspect, now a businessman, has been remanded until tomorrow. The case is being probed for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication, insulting behaviour and the improper use of network facilities, under Section 507 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

Police confirm four reports of cat abuse at Seri Nilam Apartment
KUALA LUMPUR: Images of two kittens lying in a corridor, bloodied and visibly injured, have sparked widespread outrage after going viral on social media. A video clip has also surfaced, allegedly showing a young boy removing a kitten from a cage placed outside a residence. The kitten was later found dead, with signs of bleeding. The post, shared by a social media user, claimed the incident occurred on the fifth floor of one of the blocks at the Seri Nilam apartments in Bandar Baru Ampang. The two kittens were believed to be newborns and had been taken from their mother before being found dead on the fourth floor of the same apartment block. However, the exact date of the incident was not disclosed. The post also alleged that similar acts of cruelty — including cats being thrown from upper floors or poisoned — had occurred previously at the same apartment complex. It urged residents to file reports with the Department of Veterinary Services and the police to ensure the perpetrators are held accountable. Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said four reports related to animal abuse at the apartment were received in July. No new reports have been lodged as of now. "Police visited the location after receiving the reports and found that the case was already under the purview of the Hulu Langat Department of Veterinary Services (DVS). "All the reports received will be coordinated for further action by the relevant authorities," he said in a statement today.
