Sarah Cawood was once one of the most prominent TV hosts of the 90s, and was a key presenter on Top of The Pops. But her life has changed dramatically two decades after her rise to fame.
Sarah's first major break came in the '90s when she worked on children's TV for Nickelodeon. Two years later, she secured a presenting role on Channel 4's The Girlie Show, alongside Sara Cox.
The show, which ran for two series, followed a magazine-style format, featuring interviews, live music, and stunts. The programme aired at the late 'post-pub' slot of 11pm on Fridays, positioning itself as edgier than its competitors and capitalising on the 'ladette' culture that defined the decade. Sarah then joined the revamped Live and Kicking programme for its final two years on air.

Her most significant role came with Top of The Pops. After her tenure ended, she went on to present various mini-series and one-off shows, including co-commentating the Eurovision semi-finals in 2007, 2009, and 2010, reports the Daily Record.
However, around this time, many of the high-profile presenting opportunities began to dwindle. In 2014, Sarah joined Heart East Anglia's breakfast show team for a year before stepping back to focus on caring for her children.
Earlier this year, the star opened up about her health struggles on social media, expressing concerns about her breast cancer returning. She was initially diagnosed in 2022, underwent successful treatment, and was given the all-clear.

She opened up to her followers about the lingering anxiety of cancer returning. In an open Instagram message, she said: "This is the reality of anyone who has had any kind of cancer.
"I never struggled with health anxiety before but post-breast cancer it's all-consuming and it wears me out a bit tbh. I have been feeling tired since the new year began and although it's probably just life-ing, there's always a niggling worry that it's back.
"All I can do is carry on doing healthy things, moving my body, practising mindfulness and living each day with gratitude that I got to breathe again this morning. So on we go! Batting away those intrusive thoughts and getting on with it.

"To anyone either going through a cancer diagnosis or anyone who has recovered from cancer and feels like this: I've got you, and my inbox is always open. And remember, anything that doesn't feel right: get it checked out. Early detection is key."
She also took a moment to reflect on her career in television, saying she'd come to terms with no longer being in the limelight. In another heartfelt post, she remarked: "Do I miss telly? I miss the money! And yes, sometimes I wonder what went wrong, but I'm here now so I'm going to make the most of it, however, that looks".

Highly-rated BBC show loved by fans coming to an end
Boarders, which follows five underprivileged students from inner-city London who win scholarships to an elite boarding school, has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%. The popular school programme made its debut last year and currently has two seasons available to watch on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. BBC comedy series Boarders to come to an end after three seasons According to The Sun, the third series of the show will be its last, seeing fans across the country left disappointed. The new series will see Jodie Campbell, Sekou Diaby, Aruna Jalloh, Myles Kamwendo, and Josh Tedeku reprise their roles. Discussing the show, writer, creator and executive producer Daniel Lawrence Taylor, said: 'Boarders has been a deeply personal project for me, and it's been incredible to see how audiences have connected with the characters. "From day one, I wanted to create something funny, honest, and proudly Black, "And in this final term, I hope to finish their story as they face their final year with greater challenges, deeper friendships and the looming question of life beyond school.' Studio Lambert Creative Director, Scripted Madeleine Sinclair says: 'Daniel's fearless and sharp writing, as well as standout performances from our cast have meant that audiences have truly embraced our characters and we cannot wait for everyone to see how their stories conclude – with humour, honesty, and a lot of heart." Indeed, recent figures estimate close to four per cent of young women aged 18 to 34 are selling content on X-rated platform Only-Fans. Sure, most won't be behaving like Blue, but it exposes a trend toward women feeling compelled to sell themselves on the internet. There are, of course, many fans who praise Sabrina as a woman in control of her own music and performances. They applaud her sexual frankness and witty lyrics. 'ANTI-TAYLOR SWIFT' One tweet from a fan, following a sold-out concert last year, went viral. It read: 'Sabrina Carpenter is a genius for how she embraces her sexuality but still keeps women as her target audience. "Like, how is she performing in lingerie and I still feel like it's not for men at all? "I can't comprehend it, but I love it.' But I worry Sabrina's latest album cover, with its overtones of subjugation, has gone far too far. Coupled with growing fears about young boys being radicalised by Andrew Tate-style misogynistic bile online, which promotes slapping, hitting and keeping women 'in their place', is this a helpful image to push to young girls? Sabrina Carptenter's Rise to Fame SABRINA Carpenter's first role was as the lead in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World. Between 2014 and 2017, she appeared in over 70 episodes. She also signed with the Disney-owned Hollywood Records and released her debut single, Can't Blame a Girl for Trying, in 2014. After four albums, she moved to Island Records in 2021. Her fifth album, Emails I Can't Send (2022), had her hit singles Nonsense and Feather. Around that time, Sabrina started to gain notoriety in the UK. She opened for Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour in 2023 and then achieved wider commercial success with her sixth album Short n' Sweet, which was released earlier this year. Number one singles from the album include Espresso and Please Please Please. In a sense, Sabrina is carving out a niche for herself as something of an anti-Taylor Swift. During Taylor's smash-hit Eras tour last summer, where Sabrina was the support act, young fans adored her in ever-bigger numbers — but for showing emotional, not sexual, vulnerability. While Taylor puts on a jaw-dropping show and is no stranger to donning a glitzy corset, by her own admission she has never thought of herself as sexy. She once said: 'In my life I don't gravitate towards being edgy, sexy or cool. "I just naturally am not any of those things. "I'm imaginative, I'm smart and I'm hard-working — and those things are not necessarily prioritised by pop culture.' But while the two singers may be different, they are also good friends. Her father did, though, encourage Sabrina's talent from a young age. Growing up in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, she and her three sisters were all home-schooled. Aged just ten, Sabrina began posting videos of herself singing along to Christina Aguilera songs on YouTube — and soon after that her dad built her a recording studio. In 2009, she came third in a singing contest run by Miley Cyrus, but her big break came when she was cast in Disney series Girl Meets World in 2013. Her aunt is Nancy Cartwright, the actress behind the voice of Bart Simpson — another famous on-screen rebel who doesn't care what the world thinks. But Sabrina's latest attempt to shock may have finally backfired. Her brand of performative sexuality might please, please some — but certainly not me, I'm afraid.
