Spider-Man: Brand New Day to leave the soundstage and enter the real world
The film will begin production on the streets of Glasgow, which will host 'this massive set piece that we are putting together.' He went on to refer to playing Spider-Man as 'like hanging out with an old pal,' which sounds true of his thoughts around the 'old school filmmaking' technique as well. 'It's gonna feel like making [Homecoming] again,' he said. 'It's been such a long time that I've done it that it's gonna feel like a breath of fresh air.'
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is also an appropriate title plot-wise, considering Peter's friends all forgot about him at the end of No Way Home. He may make some progress on undoing Dr. Strange's spell in the new film, as Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are both expected to return as MJ and Ned respectively, per Variety. We don't know for sure, though, as Holland previously told Cinema-Con he was 'well over the hump of giving away spoilers.' All he could promise at the time was a 'fresh start.'
It'll also be a fresh start for Stranger Things' Sadie Sink, who's set to make her Marvel debut in a still-unknown role. Jon Bernthal's Punisher will also appear. It's just a shame that Madame Web isn't booked for a cameo (at least that we know of), because Dakota Johnson—if she ever deigned to step foot on a Marvel set again—would probably be pretty pleased with Holland's update. In 2024, she pointedly referred to Marvel's penchant for blue screens as 'absolutely psychotic,' admitting that she didn't know if the film 'is going to be good at all.' Holland seems to be a little more comfortable making those sorts of promises. 'I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we're putting together,' he said.
Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31, 2026.

Rivals Season 2 Cast Just Added These Exciting British Stars
The Rivals cast is set to get even bigger in the show's much-hyped second season. Rivals premiered on Disney+ towards the end of last year, and quickly piqued viewers' interest due to its racy content and star-studded cast, which included the likes of David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Aidan Turner, Nafessa Williams and Emily Atack. On Wednesday morning, it was announced that ahead of its upcoming second run, two more big-name British stars would be joining the action. Hayley Atwell – known for her roles in the likes of Mission: Impossible, Heartstopper and Captain America – will be making a guest appearance as Helen Gordon, the ex-wife of Alex Hassell's character Rupert Campbell-Black. She'll be joined by Rupert Everett, playing her new husband Malise Gordon, the dodgy MP's former mentor and showjumping coach. Also newly-confirmed to be making appearances in season two of Rivals are Maxim Ays, Holly Cattle, Oliver Dench (yes, the great-nephew of Dame Judi), Amanda Lawrence, Bobby Lockwood, Eliot Salt, and Jonny Weldon. Showrunner Dominic Treadwell-Collins enthused: 'We are utterly thrilled to have Hayley and Rupert join us to play Jilly Cooper's legendary characters Helen and Malise Gordon. 'Alongside our other new wonderful actors and truly brilliant returning cast, Rivals series two absolutely showcases the best of British and Irish talent. With further exciting guest stars to be announced, we can't wait for everyone to see what's next for the residents of Rutshire.' It was previously reported that, due to the popularity of Rivals' first outing, the second season had been extended from 10 episodes to 12. Production on season two got underway in May, with one notable absentee from the set photros in David Tennant, whose character's life was left hanging in the balance in the series finale. While his fate is yet to be revealed, it was previously reported that the former Doctor Who star would be making an appearance in Rivals season two in some capacity, after his name was spotted during the first table read. Famous Glasgow School artwork donated to Glasgow University
The University of Glasgow's Hunterian Museum has been gifted a significant art collection which belonged to a late graduate of the University. Ten artworks from the John Shaw collection were gifted to the Museum by Mr Shaw's widow Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw. A student at the University in the late 1960s, the Glasgow-born businessman and philanthropist died in 2022 after suffering from pneumonia. The donated artworks include paintings by the renowned eighteenth-century Scottish artists Allan Ramsay and Henry Raeburn, as well as a work by one of the progenitors of the Glasgow School, George Henry. Among the works is the 1892 'Portrait of a Lady' by George Henry, which will become the artists' twelfth work held by the museum. A decorative bust-length work, it reveals the lasting impact of Henry's transformative trip to Japan in 1892' The Museum's complete collection includes additional works by Henry, including Japanese Pottery Seller, Japanese Beauty, and Girl with Red Hair. The Museum also noted a 'striking and unusual' Henry Raeburn portrait of an anonymous young Indian woman among the donated collection. 'Though her identity remains unknown, it is compelling to consider she may have been of Anglo-Indian heritage and may have been present in Scotland during a time when Raeburn was primarily painting male figures of the Scottish Enlightenment', said Art Curator Dr Lola Sanchez-Jauregui Alpanes. 'This work opens up conversations about the complex social, cultural, political, and economic ties between Britain and Asia during that period, as well as new aspects of Raeburn's female portraiture." The late Mr Shaw and his widow Dr Mazumdar-Shaw have been significant donors to the University in the past. In 2004, the couple made a joint donation of $7.5 million towards the construction of the University's Advanced Research Centre, one of the largest ever single donations endowed to the University. Soccer's Wrexham chooses Long Island for first US youth camp
The kids are getting a kick out of this. Wrexham AFC, the Welsh soccer team made famous by celebrity owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, is running its first-ever youth camp in the US — and picked the Long Island soccer hot spot of Massapequa to hold it. 'Oh, they're loving it,' he said, adding that the staff has been recognized by fans all over since their flight touched down in Queens. Pitching in Getting Wrexham stateside was the work of a bit of magic from Paul Bigilin, Massapequa Soccer Club's director, along with Fitzgerald and town soccer icon Jim Kilmeade, the brother of Fox News host Brian. They connected with Terry Barton, CEO of the UK-based soccer development program the Coaching Manual, who had relations with the fellas at Wrexham. 'They know we have a long history of soccer and the local and national stage in Massapequa,' said Bigilin, whose son Nick is a coach with the men's team at Long Island University.
