Rivals Season 2 Cast Just Added These Exciting British Stars

Yahoo14 hours ago
The Rivals cast is set to get even bigger in the show's much-hyped second season.
Rivals premiered on Disney+ towards the end of last year, and quickly piqued viewers' interest due to its racy content and star-studded cast, which included the likes of David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Aidan Turner, Nafessa Williams and Emily Atack.
On Wednesday morning, it was announced that ahead of its upcoming second run, two more big-name British stars would be joining the action.
Hayley Atwell – known for her roles in the likes of Mission: Impossible, Heartstopper and Captain America – will be making a guest appearance as Helen Gordon, the ex-wife of Alex Hassell's character Rupert Campbell-Black.
She'll be joined by Rupert Everett, playing her new husband Malise Gordon, the dodgy MP's former mentor and showjumping coach.
Also newly-confirmed to be making appearances in season two of Rivals are Maxim Ays, Holly Cattle, Oliver Dench (yes, the great-nephew of Dame Judi), Amanda Lawrence, Bobby Lockwood, Eliot Salt, and Jonny Weldon.
Showrunner Dominic Treadwell-Collins enthused: 'We are utterly thrilled to have Hayley and Rupert join us to play Jilly Cooper's legendary characters Helen and Malise Gordon.
'Alongside our other new wonderful actors and truly brilliant returning cast, Rivals series two absolutely showcases the best of British and Irish talent. With further exciting guest stars to be announced, we can't wait for everyone to see what's next for the residents of Rutshire.'
It was previously reported that, due to the popularity of Rivals' first outing, the second season had been extended from 10 episodes to 12.
Production on season two got underway in May, with one notable absentee from the set photros in David Tennant, whose character's life was left hanging in the balance in the series finale.
While his fate is yet to be revealed, it was previously reported that the former Doctor Who star would be making an appearance in Rivals season two in some capacity, after his name was spotted during the first table read.

‘KPop Demon Hunters' Back on Top of Netflix Most-Watched Movies List With 26 Million Views 9 Weeks After Premiere

"Wednesday" Season 2 dominated the TV list for the second week in a row The 'KPop Demon Hunters' craze is not over yet. The animated movie bounced back to the top of Netflix's top 10 movies list as it tallied up 26 million views during the week of Aug. 11, nine weeks after its premiere. In recent weeks, viewership for 'KPop Demon Hunters' has remained relatively stagnant, with the movie scoring 25.9 million views during the week of Aug. 4 and 26.3 million views during the week of July 28. This week, viewership for 'KPop Demon Hunters' outpaced that of 'Night Always Comes,' which came in second place with 11.3 million views, as well as 'My Oxford Year,' which came in third place this week with 11 million views. On the TV side, 'Wednesday' Season 2 dominated the most-watched TV list for the second week in a row. After debuting to a massive 50 million views last week, 'Wednesday' Season 2 scored another 29.1 million views, bringing its total viewership up to 79.1 million views, just about 15 million views shy of the viewership needed to make it onto Netflix's most popular TV shows of all time list. 'Wednesday' Season 2 would need to beat the 94.8 million views scored by 'Stranger Things 3' to climb into the most popular TV list, a feat that can likely completed next week. And that's not even factoring in the second half of 'Wednesday' Season 2, which is slated to drop on Sept. 3. Like last week, Season 1 got a boost from the Season 2 debut, tallying up 7.4 million views as the third most-watched show of the week. Between 'Wednesday' Seasons 1 and 2 on the week's top 10 list was 'Fit for TV: the Reality of 'The Biggest Loser,'' which scored 7.5 million views as the week's No. 2 most-watched show. School mom reveals rare peek into Kate Middleton's parenting and private life: "I do see her a lot..."

It's a side of the Princess of Wales we rarely get to see. Kate Middleton might be the future queen of England, but when it comes to parenting, she's just like any other mom on the sidelines. At the premiere of The Real Housewives of London, cast member Panthea Parker shared a rare glimpse into the Princess of Wales' life as a school mom, revealing that Kate is a constant presence at her children's sports games. 'I see her quite a few times because my son's school plays against her son's school,' Parker told Hello!. 'So they play rugby and football against each other so we're always at her school or my school. I do see her a lot but not to talk to, just from afar. So classy, so lovely, and she never misses any of her children's matches, so really amazing.' A hands-on royal mom Kate, 43, and Prince William are raising Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with a focus on family life despite their packed royal schedules. Kate has previously spoken about the challenges of balancing motherhood with duty. On the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast in 2020, she admitted to feeling 'mum guilt' when she couldn't do the school run. 'Even this morning, coming to the nursery visit here – George and Charlotte were like, 'Mummy how could you possibly not be dropping us off at school this morning?'' she said with a laugh. A family that loves sports The Wales family is known to be 'sport-mad,' as royal biographer Robert Jobson has put it. From rugby and football to their annual Wimbledon outings, the family embraces both playing and spectating. Jobson noted that George and Charlotte's appearances at big sporting events show not only their parents' enthusiasm but also a way to connect with the public. With summer holidays underway, the royal kids might be off the field for now — but according to Parker, fans can count on spotting their mom cheering from the sidelines once the school season kicks back in. Kate Middleton's mom strategy at her kids' sporting events is very relatable for exhausted parents anywhere

As parents, we don't always have the time; but we make the time. Panthea Parker of 'The Real Housewives of London' comes in contact with the Princess of Wales from time to time, as her son's school often plays sports against Lambrook School (where all three Wales children attend), and she has shared that Princess Catherine (who much of the world still calls Kate Middleton), is always present whenever a sports or school activity is happening. 'I see her quite a few times because my son's school plays against her son's school,' she told Hello! Magazine. 'So they play rugby and football against each other so we're always at her school or my school.' The two women aren't very well acquainted, but Parker is aware that Middleton is a constant fixture supporting her kids. "So classy, so lovely, and she never misses any of her children's matches, so really amazing. And nor do I, otherwise how do I know that?" she said in the interview. The Princess of Wales is famously a very hands-on parent, always present at all her kids' activities and sporting events (as referenced by royal expert Ingrid Seward in The Sun in a previous story). There's no doubt the future Queen of England has a lot on her plate, but she always makes the time to be present for her kids, and that's something we can all appreciate and relate to (or aspire to!).
