'Kinder Joy of moving' brings learning through movement to the UAE
Ferrero Gulf's Mauro De Felip shares how a global movement initiative is helping children in the Emirates stay active, engaged, and full of joy
For parents today, creating opportunities for children to move with purpose and joy is essential. Kinder Joy of moving, a global initiative by Ferrero, was officially launched in the UAE in September 2024, with a mission to bring joy to children through moving – encouraging their natural inclination to be active, move and play.
Mauro De Felip, Ferrero Gulf Managing Director, explains that the initiative is designed to support the well-being of children in a fun, engaging, and lasting way.
' Kinder Joy of moving is a Ferrero Group Social Responsibility Project,' explained De Felip. 'Its ethos is to instil a positive attitude – and joy – towards movement in children. The project grew out of the desire to help children become active for the long term, allowing them to live happier and healthier lives. It mirrors the broader Kinder philosophy: 'Happy children today will be better adults tomorrow'.'
The Joy of moving Method
Kinder Joy of moving is built on non-competitive, play-based activities that focus on physical fitness, motor coordination, cognitive functions and life skills. It is the result of the sharing and experience of various experts in their respective fields, including researchers, educators and trainers engaged in lifelong learning.
The approach for Kinder Joy of moving is simple: Whatever the game, let joy win! This means that irrespective of the sports discipline, the playing field and the level of performance or ability of the child, Joy of moving lets the joy of movement win.
The activities are playful, engaging and designed to be inclusive, ensuring that every child can participate, have fun, and grow.
UAE Launch with Al Mawakeb Schools
In September 2024, Ferrero Gulf partnered with Al Mawakeb Schools, a respected educational institution in the UAE, to introduce Kinder Joy of moving across three campuses, Al Garhoud, Al Barsha, and Al Khawaneej. The program has already reached 1,335 students from KG1 to Grade 6, with all involved PE instructors trained in the Kinder Joy of moving methodology.
The results have been overwhelmingly positive, with schools reporting increased participation, improved student engagement, and a noticeable boost in classroom energy.
A Global Program with a Powerful Reach
The UAE now joins a worldwide movement. Kinder Joy of moving is active in 34 countries, has engaged 3.4 million children, and collaborates with 131 federations and associations. Since 2020, it has reached more than 303 million users on social media and has benefited from over €11 million in investment.

Residency visa scammers busted in Dubai: 21 convicted and Dh25m fine issued
Dubai's Citizenship and Residency Court has issued a Dh25.2 million fine against 21 people convicted in one of the emirate's largest residency visa fraud cases. The suspects, from several nationalities, were found guilty of operating fraudulent companies to unlawfully obtain residency visas, which they later sold to 385 recipients. The network exploited legal loopholes by setting up dummy businesses that existed only on paper and never functioned as legitimate employers. Counsellor Ali Humaid bin Khatem, senior advocate general and director of Dubai's Citizenship and Residency Prosecution, said it is one of the largest cases of misusing residency visas to exploit people. He said the investigation included 33 commercial establishments, which served as decoys for obtaining and misusing the visas. 'Most of the business licences under which the illegal establishments operated had been secured by furnishing fictitious addresses. The aim was to undermine and exploit residency and labour regulations for unlawful gain,' Mr bin Khatem said in a statement on Tuesday. Officials from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs in Dubai discovered the companies and reported them to the Dubai Public Prosecution. 'The arrests followed extensive monitoring, follow-ups and inspections of the companies' purported offices,' Mr bin Khatem added. Following their arrest, the suspects were referred to the prosecutors for investigation and evidence was gathered and submitted. 'The prosecutors will continue to work closely with its partners to address any violations of laws governing the entry and residence of foreigners as well as labour regulations in order to preserve the stability of society and the integrity of the labour market,' Mr bin Khatem said.

Emirates Restores Flight Operations After Brief Disruption
Emirates Airlines has confirmed a full return to regular operations just hours after experiencing 'minimal disruptions' on June 23 due to unfolding regional events. The Dubai-based carrier moved swiftly, activating its contingency playbook to avoid major service interruptions. While a handful of flights were briefly suspended and others rerouted to avoid temporary airspace congestion, the overall impact was minimal, the airline said in a statement on Tuesday. 'Despite rapidly evolving developments in the region, Emirates has continued business as usual,' the airline added, noting it successfully carried over 1.7 million passengers on more than 5,800 flights in the last two weeks alone. Flights to Amman and Beirut were briefly paused as a safety precaution but resumed promptly. Emirates stressed that no flight diversions were necessary and that its operations team worked closely with aviation authorities to ensure safe and efficient routes. The airline also highlighted its commitment to transparent communication: 'Our teams kept travelers in the loop via website alerts, social media updates, and by directly assisting affected customers through reservation channels.' As the busy summer travel season ramps up, Emirates said it will continue closely monitoring regional developments in coordination with relevant authorities, while prioritizing safe, reliable journeys.
