Hyderabad shocker: Late-night party ends in tragedy as 2 techies killed in crash; here's what happened
Two young techie employees, identified as Bhatula Bhargav Yadav and Chethi Varshith, died in a car crash in Hyderabad's Edulabad in early hours of Sunday after returning from a party that concluded at a farmhouse. The tragedy took when they were searching for food and couldn't find any open eateries, TOI reported.
Both victims, aged 23, were drunk and negligent driving caused the incident, the preliminary investigation showed. Yadav belonged to Kuntloor, whereas Varshith from Sainikpuri. Both were joined by other software engineers, namely Praveen, Dinesh, Vinay, Bhavadeep, and Rajesh, at Vihari Nature's Nest farmhouse on Friday for a celebratory evening.
'They reached the farmhouse in two cars, one driven by Praveen and another by a hired driver. The group partied until about 2.30 am on Saturday," TOI quoted Sub-inspector A Shekhar as saying.
While they were on their way back, the Hyundai Creta driven by Praveen suddenly swerved off the road, crashing into two electric poles and a tree.
'The impact was so severe that the right passenger door flung open. Bhargav and Varshith, who were seated in the rear, were thrown out of the vehicle and died on the spot due to multiple injuries,' A Shekhar mentioned.
Their families were notified around 3 am, after the group members in the second vehicle alerted the police.
Inspector P Parashuram said, 'Initial probe points to rash and negligent driving. We have collected Praveen's blood sample for blood alcohol content analysis. Viscera samples of the deceased will also be tested for alcohol." The SI added despite the deployment of airbags, the impact of the crash was extremely severe, stating, "Liquor bottles were recovered from the farmhouse, and CCTV footage has been collected as part of the probe. We will also be recording statements from the other group members.'
Following a complaint by Bhargav's uncle, B. Nagesh Yadav, a case has been filed against Praveen under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by negligence.
In a separate incident, a 24-year-old law student lost his life in Haryana's Nuh after his car crashed into a stationary truck from behind on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway early Saturday morning. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera. According to the police, the driver of the car, identified as Rahul, a third-year LLB student, apparently dozed off at the wheel, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into the stationary truck.

Chhattisgarh: Sukma ASP Akash Rao Giripunje killed in IED blast, 2 cops injured
Akash Rao Giripunje RAIPUR: An Additional SP was killed and at least two cops severely injured in a major pressure IED blast planted by Maoists targeting security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district in Bastar on Monday morning. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akash Rao Giripunje who sustained critical injuries in the blast, succumbed soon after the incident, officials told TOI. The incident took place near Dondra village on the Konta–Errabore road earlier today. According to police sources, ASP Giripunje was on foot patrol duty as part of a pre-emptive security operation ahead of the Bharat Bandh called by CPI (Maoist) on June 10. The patrol was aimed at thwarting any potential Maoist disruption in the highly sensitive region. During the operation, a pressure-activated Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off, resulting in serious injuries to ASP Giripunje and causing harm to several other officers and security personnel accompanying him. Immediate assistance was rushed to the site, and the injured were transported to Konta Hospital for medical attention. ASP Akash Rao's condition was reported to be extremely critical and fragile, prompting swift efforts to airlift and shift him to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment. But he couldn't be saved, an officer confirmed to TOO. Other injured personnel are currently stated to be out of immediate danger, officials said. This incident comes at a time when security forces are on high alert across the Bastar region. Ghaziabad restaurant vandalised over late service; 3 held
Ghaziabad: Three people were arrested and a search was launched for others after a video clip showing a group of men vandalising a restaurant in Rajnagar Extension, Ghaziabad, with wooden sticks surfaced on social media on Sunday, police said, adding that a delay in serving food sparked the dispute. The 50-second CCTV footage clip purportedly shows the men attacking the restaurant when people are having dinner. HT, however, could not independently confirm the video's authenticity. 'On Friday night, suspects Minto Tyagi, Rajdeep Kumar, and Ravi Sharma — all in their 30s and residents of Modinagar and Sihani in Ghaziabad — had gone to have dinner at a restaurant in Rajnagar Extension. Due to delay in food service, a dispute broke out between the suspects and the restaurant owner, Akshit Tyagi,' said a police officer requesting anonymity. The matter was initially pacified by a mutual acquaintance, making the suspects leave the scene. However, on Saturday around 11.30pm, the suspects returned with seven to eight friends on motorcycles and in a car, and started vandalising the restaurant, the officer added. 'They attacked the hotel while customers were having dinner and later threatened Tyagi before fleeing the spot,' said Nandgram assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Poonam Mishra. Following Tyagi's complaint, police have registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for assault or use of criminal force, abetment of offence punishable with death or imprisonment, voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons, criminal intimidation, and robbery, at Nandgram police station against three identified and seven unidentified suspects, the ACP added. Tyagi alleged that the suspects broke two laptops, one LED, a billing machine, and the counter. 'They also stole ₹1,760 from the counter and assaulted customers,' the FIR stated. 'All three prime suspects were arrested on Sunday, and efforts are underway to identify the remaining accused,' the ACP said, adding that further probe is on.

Punjab: 3 arrested with heroin, weapons in Muktsar
The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in a joint operation with Muktsar police, have arrested three criminals and seized illegal arms and narcotics from their possession, director general of police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said on Sunday. Those arrested have been identified as Gaurav Kumar alias Billa, Vikasdeep Singh, and Lovepreet Singh, all residents of Muktsar. The police have recovered two .32 bore pistols, 10 live cartridges, and 174 grams of heroin from their possession. DGP Yadav said that the accused were wanted in multiple criminal cases involving serious offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. 'Gaurav alias Billa was a fugitive in a case registered at police station city Malout, while Vikasdeep and Lovepreet Singh were wanted in separate cases at police station city Sri Muktsar Sahib. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were plotting to eliminate a rival in Punjab, ' the DGP added. Sharing operational details, additional director general of police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban said the trio was spotted examining a polythene bag under a flyover bridge. Upon seeing the police, they attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended near the GT Road Bathinda roundabout, Malout. 'Upon searching them, heroin and firearms were recovered from their possession,' the ADGP said. 'An FIR under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, has been registered at police station city Malout. Further investigation is ongoing to trace criminal networks and other accomplices,' the ADGP added.
