Tripura to constitute task forces across districts to deport infiltrators
Tripura government
would constitute task forces in all the eight districts of the state to detect and deport infiltrators staying in the bordering state.
A senior police official said that the 'Task Force' has already been constituted in West Tripura district, and it is being constituted in the remaining seven districts.

The Tripura government's actions followed the Union Ministry of
Home Affairs circular
, directing all states and Union Territories across the country to verify the credentials of persons suspected to be illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar. If the documents of the foreign citizens are found to be fake or illegally procured, they would face deportation, the MHA circular had said.
The ruling BJP ally

(TMP) has been organising different types of agitation for the past two months, demanding the push-back of "illegal migrants" from Bangladesh and Myanmar.
The tribal past party has demanded strict implementation of the orders from the MHA concerning the identification, detention, and deportation of illegal migrants.
TMP senior leader and party's legislator
Ranjit Debbarma
noted that the BJP-ruled states like Assam and Gujarat had taken firm steps against infiltrators, but the Tripura government had not taken adequate steps in this regard.
The party's senior leader and Forest and Environment Minister
Animesh Debbama
had said that no infiltrators would be allowed to stay in Tripura.
Debbama said that a nine-member delegation of the party led by Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma would meet the
Election Commission of India
next week to raise several key issues related to the
electoral roll preparation
in Tripura.
He said, "A major demand would be for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Tripura, similar to the process recently carried out in Bihar to identify the fake voters and infiltrators.'

Shimla, Jul 27(UNI) Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi has strongly criticized BJP leaders and a few local businessmen in Thunag for allegedly insulting the national flag during a protest against the government's decision to shift the Horticulture College from Thunag to a safer location. Negi defended the Congress government's move to relocate the college, citing the recent flash floods and the risk to students' lives. "It is wrong to run a college in a disaster-prone area just to protect business interests of a few people," he said, adding that students living in rented homes in Thunag had themselves requested relocation due to repeated disasters in 2023 and 2024. The Minister said that BJP workers and a handful of shopkeepers tried to block the state government's decision and even created a scene during his visit to the area. 'They surrounded my vehicle, threw black cloths and a slipper-like object at it, and disrespected the tricolour mounted on the car,' he alleged. 'This act amounts to treason,' he added. Negi also questioned the BJP's silence over the incomplete infrastructure of the college. "Out of the total Rs 270 crore sanctioned, only Rs 10 crore was spent when BJP was in power," he claimed. He said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is personally monitoring the situation and relief work is going on without any resistance from the common people. 'Only some BJP leaders and businessmen are trying to politicize the issue,' Negi said. Negi further targeted BJP leader Dr. Rajeev Bindal, saying, 'The real shameful act is the insult of the national flag, not the relocation of the college meant to save lives.' Jalpaiguri: Uttam Kumar Brajabashi of Dinhata and Nishikanta Das of Mathabhanga — who received NRC notices from the foreigners tribunal in Assam — on Sunday were at the forefront of protests by Trinamool Congress against "targeting" of Bengali migrants by BJP, in Cooch Behar's Jorai on the Assam-Bengal border. Ghosh left Assam before getting a notice, saying she did not have the documents Assam govt was looking for.

Theft at BJP MLA's house
A cook allegedly made off with Rs 2.5 lakh in cash and valuables from the residence of BJP MLA from Shravasti, Ram Pheren Pandey, in the Hazratganj area on Saturday night. The MLA, who resides at the ministerial housing complex at 3 Tilak Marg in the Dalibagh area, accused servant Rinku Pankalta, a native of Shravasti, as the prime suspect. Rinku is currently on the run.
