Watch: English golfer hits freak hole-in-one at Women's Open

Mimi Rhodes lit up the final day of the Women's Open with a bizarre hole-in-one that featured the Englishwoman's ball deflecting off her partner's ball before dropping into the cup. MIMI RHODES WITH AN UNBELIEVABLE HOLE-IN-ONE! 🤯 — Sky Sports Golf (@SkySportsGolf) August 3, 2025 Rhodes and the Australia Stephanie Kyriacou were involved in this surreal scene on the 212-yard fifth. Kyriacou played first and her supreme effort looked destined to achieve an ace, itself, before veering away in the final rolls. Just a few inches away, the world No 42 was still booked in for a birdie though. However, with the crowd believing they had witnessed enough drama for one grouping, Rhodes, the 23-year-old from Somerset, stepped up and went pin-chasing. Rhodes's strike was just as well struck, but appeared to be going too fast. That is until it took the billiards route, checking off Kyriacou's and ricocheting into the hole. Hearing the cheers, Rhodes looked bemused before raising her arms in celebration. Kyriacou hugged her, but must have felt slightly aggrieved as, ironically, she had played the better shot. No matter, Kyriacou enjoyed her own hole-in-one on the eighth on Friday. A moment of magic ✨ Steph Kyriacou makes the first ACE of the AIG Women's Open! ⛳🤩 — Sky Sports (@SkySports) August 1, 2025 In the commentary booth, Henni Zuel, the former Tour pro, exclaimed: 'Unreal! I hope she buys Steph a nice present. Something more than a drink is deserved there.' Rhodes was being followed by at least 30 of her family and friends from Burnham & Berrow and their faith was emphatically rewarded by the Ladies European Tour rookie, who has already won three times this season. Rhodes's Royal Porthcawl heroics hauled her to four-under and within five of the leader Miyu Yamashita. The incident was reminiscent of Louis Oosthuizen's hole-in-one at the 2016 Masters. On that occasion, the South African's ball used that of JB Holmes as the canon on the 16th at Augusta and it was duly called 'the most incredible ace in major history'.

Tyrone beat Laois to win All-Ireland Intermediate title

Tyrone captured their first All-Ireland Ladies Intermediate Football title since 2018 with a 2-16 to 1-13 victory over Laois in Sunday's final at Croke Park. Aoife Horisk and Katie Rose Muldoon scored goals in either half to help the Red Hands avenge last year's agonising one-point decider defeat by Leitrim. Niamh O'Neill top scored for Tyrone with 0-7, while Horisk finished with 1-3. In a tight first half, Laois struck the first goal after 22 minutes when Shifra Havill emphatically fired the ball into the roof of Amelia Coyle's net. Tyrone were initially frustrated in their hunt for goals, being denied first by Laois corner-back Faye McEvoy's goal-line clearance before Sorcha Gormley was denied from the penalty spot. But after Laois carelessly gifted possession back to the Ulster side, Gormley teed up Horisk, who drilled a low shot past Eimear Barry to help give Tyrone a 1-7 to 1-5 half-time lead. Laois kept in touch after the restart with a couple of Mo Nerney points and Fiona Dooley's score, O'Neill and Horisk ensured Tyrone kept a slender Leinster side's hopes of overturning the deficit in the closing stages were dented when Ciara Crowley's yellow card was followed by an O'Neill were a point up when Muldoon delivered the decisive blow, finishing low to the net from close range with six minutes remaining. People are just realizing hidden detail in Kai Trump's first Instagram post

Kai Trump, the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Haydon - and the oldest grandchild of former President Trump - was just 14 when she made her Instagram debut. Her very first post? A photo with her grandfather and Tiger Woods, taken on a sunny day at one of Trump's golf courses and shared on February 23, 2021. 'Wishing Tiger luck and a speedy recovery. Also wishing his family all the best in these incredibly trying times. Get well soon! #goat #tigerwoods,' she captioned the shot, referencing Woods' serious car crash in early 2021. Now four years later, people have been noticing the significance of the post after Kai's mother started dating the golfing legend. Vanessa and Trump Jr divorced in 2018 after 12 years of marriage and since Thanksgiving 2024 Vanessa has been dating Woods. Sharp-eyed fans have been commenting on Kai's first post with one writing: 'Ironic this is her first post when he's now dating her mom.' Now 18, Kai has made a name for herself in golf. A senior at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida, she committed to the University of Miami last year and is poised to become a star in one of the country's top golf programs. She's also one of the most-followed student-athletes online, with a growing fanbase thanks to her YouTube channel and golf content. Last fall, she played against popular golf creator Garrett Clark and regularly shares behind-the-scenes vlogs. Her popularity has paid off. She recently landed a major NIL deal with Accelerator Active Energy, joining stars like Livvy Dunne and Travis Kelce. Her announcement video - complete with a mock presidential speech - showcased her signature humor: 'My fellow Americans and content creators. After months of reflection, I made a decision. I'll be running - no, stepping - into a new role. 'One with great responsibilities and 100 per cent natural caffeine. I've partnered with Accelerator!' Speaking to Fox, Kai said the 'organic' partnership was a natural fit: 'I love energy drinks… I don't eat a lot of sugar, because I get a little jittery and I crash and with accelerator there is no sugar and I don't crash at all.' She reportedly holds a $1.2 million NIL valuation and is now part of a brand lineup that includes Dunne - who launched her own cotton candy flavor in April - and Super Bowl champ Kelce. Kai is the eldest of Don Jr. and Vanessa's five children. Her younger siblings include Donny, 16, Tristan, 13, Spencer, 12, and Chloe, the youngest. Kai has previously spoken about how her grandfather has pushed her to be a better golfer. 'He taught me to just keep on working at it, and, honestly, I've gotten a lot better in past years with golf, but, he really just [taught me to keep] trying to keep on fighting and keep on practicing and whatnot,' she told 'Fox & Friends' last month. 'And I love playing golf… it's something that we share, a special bond together.' The high school student also spoke about the difficulties in having such famous relatives. 'I mean, it's a lot to handle sometimes with the public eye and also being a high school student and just like a normal kid,' she said. 'But honestly I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm very lucky and grateful for the opportunity I have to meet all these people and meet world leaders. 'I'm very thankful and just lucky to have this opportunity.'
