Britain's Got Talent star underwent life-saving surgery days before semi-finals

Metro5 days ago

Britain's Got Talent star CJ Emmons has revealed that he underwent vital surgery just weeks before his live performance.
The semi-finalist, who appeared on Saturday night's episode, didn't manage to secure the all-important Golden Buzzer to make it through to the finals next week but fans are hoping he might get the coveted wildcard slot.
Regardless, the 42-year-old singer has certainly gone on an emotional journey after revealing live on stage that he had received serious surgery just weeks earlier.
'Two weeks ago I was in the hospital receiving life-threatening surgery, and I fought for that, and I'm fighting for this. I want this so bad,' he said.
He went into further detail about it in a chat with The Mirror in which he added that it had been 'hurting to sing'.

'I won't let it stop me from my dream and goal,' he said as he continued his recovery.
Then added: 'They cut into my abdominal wall and every time after that, it's been hurting to sing.
'But my doctor's like, 'keep singing, strengthen it, strengthen it, and it's going to get better.' So there's still a bit of pain. But I can tell it's getting stronger and stronger.'
'I'm here to fight. I'm here to win,' he added.
He returned to California ahead of the semis and rushed himself to hospital at the start of the month after experiencing severe abdominal pain.
After being told his gallbladder was 'completely dead' he discovered it was 'turning gangrene' and was about to 'explode and turn sepsis' which would have been fatal.
After being pumped full of antibiotics, he went into surgery on May 3 and has been recovering ever since.
It was not the only shocking moment from Saturday's semi-final. Magician Harry Moulding blew the judges, audience and fans away after incorporating a live proposal into the end of his set which secured him a place in the finals.
After an elaborate build-up, audience member Jess was called up to the stage where she watched a pre-recorded video from her boyfriend.
The boyfriend then appeared on stage with a wedding ring and said: 'I love you more than anything. Will you do me the honour. Will you marry me?' to which she offered a delighted yes.
The sweet stunt didn't impress everybody, however, with some viewers casting doubt on just how real the spectacle was. More Trending
Alongside Harry, the line-up for the Britain's Got Talent finale include The Blackouts, Vinnie McKee, Ping Pong Pang, Stacey Leadbeatter, Jasmine and Jasmine Rice among others for in the ultimate showdown.
This year the final will last two hours and 45 minutes.
The winner is vying for a spot at the annual Royal Variety Performance and a £250,000 cash prize. Not too bad.

Clarkson's Farm star's life off-screen from long-term boyfriend to family feud

Glamorous farmhand Harriet Cowan has said goodbye to Jeremy Clarkson and the Diddly Squat farm after stepping in to provide much-needed cover - but she quickly became a fan favourite New farmhand Harriet Cowan, 24, has said her goodbyes to the Diddly Squat farm after stepping in to provide some help to Jeremy Clarkson in series four - and a little dash of glamour. The TikTok star was brought in as cover for manager Kaleb Cooper, 26, whilst he went on tour with his one-man show across the country, but on his return to the Chipping Norton farm, Harriet returned to her normal day-to-day life. In the sweet moment, she said goodbye to Jeremy Clarkson, the former Top Gear presenter, and said she had been a lifesaver. ‌ "You saved my life. So, if we get stuck again, can we give you a call?" He asked the trained nurse. However, as it stands, there are "no plans" that she will appear again in this series of Clarkson's Farm, or any potential future ones - sources close to the show have previously revealed. ‌ Whilst Harriet has left the show for now, the social media star quickly became a fan favourite - and boasts over 448,700 followers on her TikTok account and 159,000 on Instagram - with many calling for her to be brought back to the show. Harriet comes from a farming family and grew up on her grandad's livestock farm, which her dad has now taken over. Most of the content centres around life in agriculture and her unbelievably sweet brown collie dog, Sky. The Mirror takes a look at just what Harriet gets up to off-screen. Girls' holiday and nights out Since finishing her time on Clarkson's Farm, Harriet has jetted off with her friends to Spain to enjoy a break in the sunshine. She ditched the wellies, grabbed a bucket hat and a blue bikini, and spent some much-needed time away from the farm relaxing poolside - and shared a few snaps from her time away. ‌ Harriet was seen getting dolled up for a night out with the girls and shared a picture of her hard at work blowing up a pink lido so they could lounge in the pool. She's also reported to have tried on a few accessories at a local store. Whilst Harriet spends a lot of her time hard at work on the farm and nursing - as well as reportedly working as an advocate for the mental health of farmers - she also likes to let her hair down, and often posts snaps on her socials of glamorous nights out with her pals and partner James Booth. ‌ Boyfriend James Harriet has been with her boyfriend James - who is also reported to be a third-generation farmer - for "some time," according to one of her step sisters. The Clarkson's Farm star regularly posts pictures and sweet videos with her partner, who she seems to have met at the Young Farmers Club (YFC), writing over one video post of the couple: "The 'butterfly effect' is crazy because if I didn't join young farmers we'd of never of met." The pair obviously have a lot in common with their farming backgrounds, with Harriet writing in one joking post last year: "Your bf brings you presents to unwrap ... Mine brings me bales to unwrap. We're not the same." ‌ She joked in another post about lambing season, which saw her holding a seriously cute lamb "I've been covered head to toe in bodily fluids. But at the end of it all I expect my bf to take the bins out cause it's gross". Nursing career Whilst Harriet seems to be pretty busy helping out with the cows and sheep on the farm - she also has a full-time job as a nurse. She graduated from the University of Derby in 2023 and is now fully qualified, working for the NHS, so needless to say she has a pretty packed schedule. In one post she joked about her packed calendar and the financial difficulties that can come with farming, writing over one video on her TikTok: "Thinking I could quit my job and farm full time... but then I remember I have a mortgage to pay." She captioned the lighthearted post, "Suppose I would miss nursing a bit too". ‌ Family feud Unfortunately, Harriet seems to be embroiled in some family tensions - with her stepsister speaking out about her publicly since her rise to fame on Clarkson's Farm. Elina Clifford, a professional chiropodist, opened up about her feelings on her estranged step-sister Harriet, and she certainly didn't hold back when it came to diving into the subject. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Elina dubbed her step-sister "fake" and "self-absorbed", adding, "She loves to be the centre of attention, often at others' expense". ‌ She also issued a blunt warning to Clarkson's Farm: "She is fake in the way she behaves, so Jeremy Clarkson, beware!". According to The Express, Elina and her elder sister Maddie - a teacher - blame the origins of the "family feud" on Harriet's behaviour towards their mother Vicky, who is in a relationship with Harriet's dad Eddy. The sisters claim that Harriet isn't nice to their mother, which has caused serious tension. "We don't have a good relationship with her. Our mum is with her dad now, and there was a lot of drama a couple of years ago. There is a family feud, and Harriet was not being very nice to mum, and it was very upsetting," said Maddie. The siblings went as far as to say that Harriet was only taking part in Clarkson's Farm in an attempt to grow her already massive social media following - calling it "sad and desperate" and claiming the TV star is "obsessed with herself".

Cancel your weekend plans to binge new Netflix thriller hailed 'pure greatness'

Netflix's new Scotland-set crime thriller is already proving a hit with subscribers, having climbed up to the third spot in the streamer's TV ranking just a day after its release. Starring Matthew Goode as the rumpled detective Carl Morck, Dept Q is stuffed with twists, red herrings and complex characters you will want to root for, making it the perfect weekend binge-watch. The new nine-part show finds Morck reeling from a botched murder investigation that left his partner paralysed and another police officer dead. The first episode sees his boss decide the answer is to squirrel him away in a basement department, rooting through cold case files. He teams up with Syrian refugee and former police officer Akram Salim (Alexej Manvelov), who picks their first case: the disappearance of an ambitious young prosecutor Merritt Linguard (Chloe Pirrie) on a ferry trip four years ago. Writer and director Scott Frank hoped to replicate the success he found on Netflix with The Queen's Gambit and has been sitting on the rights to Jussi Adler-Olsen's source Scandi-noir novels for over a decade. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Frank said he was inspired by his love of crime dramas like Line of Duty to use the long-untouched rights after owning them for 15 years. He admitted to Metro: 'The books, you just knew that they could work that way. It took me a while to get to them.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video He added: 'I thought this particular mystery and the situation and context for it was so interesting. I hadn't seen that before. 'But also the potential for these characters. I think they're all really interesting and you could take them in so many different directions and go so far with them. 'It just felt like this was a natural series. I hadn't really made anything like this before and so it seemed like a really, really fun idea.' It's certainly gone down well with Netflix viewers, who have taken to X to urge others to give the new show a go. Senior TV Reporter Rebecca Cook shares her take on Netflix's show… Setting a dusty cold case file in front of a crack team of sleuths is definitely not reinventing the TV wheel. Making the detective in charge of said team the most disliked man in the police precinct is also nothing new. But Dept Q is further proof that when it comes to bad-tempered, trauma-laden crime shows, the limit does not exist. This one benefits from a violently unhinged baddie, who it's impossible to look away from him. The Slow Horses comparison is apt. They're dud spies, these are dud coppers. Unfortunately, Dept Q doesn't quite reach the levels of The Thick of It comedy found in Slough House, but the Department Q gang are a good hang nevertheless. @Mon3yStretch wrote: 'I gotta say, when it comes to detective shows, the British are cream of the crop. This new show on Netflix called Dept Q is pure greatness,' as @emhoy chimed in: 'Just watched first episode and it's fantastic Dept Q.' More Trending Perhaps given that Morck and his crew are down-and-outers in the precinct, one viewer compared it to Slow Horses on Apple TV Plus. @conorgeorge95 wrote: 'Now this is a series Netflix needs to stick with, I see why it's getting the Slow Horses of Netflix comparison, also the casting/acting is outstanding. Do not let this go to waste. #DeptQ' @RhianReads1 tweeted: 'Dept Q is so good I'm considering buying and reading the book before I continue.' @chrisgbradford added: 'Have just binge watched Dept Q on Netflix. Absolutely brilliant. The production, writing, and the cast all superb. Season 2 please!' View More » Dept Q is available to stream on Netflix. Got a story? I filmed a myself having sex - I was shocked it turned me on

Scrolling through my phone, I paused on the dirty clip I had all but forgotten about. After I pressed play, a nude figure appeared on the screen, sitting on the edge of a bed with come-hither eyes. Clearly she was waiting for her lover to give his next instruction. At first, you can only see his feet but then the camera suddenly angled upwards, exposing his crown jewels in all their glory. As he approached her, the sexual tension was palpable, which made a smile spread across my face because I knew exactly what happened next. And not just because I've watched this film before – or because porn plots are pretty obvious. See, this is actually my very own sex tape. That's right, I was the star of this show. While some people might cringe at the thought of making a homemade flick, filming myself during sex has never really phased me. In fact, I find it exciting. That's likely because I spent several years in long distance on-again, off-again relationships where technology played a huge part. Love reading juicy stories like this? Need some tips for how to spice things up in the bedroom? Sign up to The Hook-Up and we'll slide into your inbox every week with all the latest sex and dating stories from Metro. We can't wait for you to join us! Conversation is all well and good but sometimes you just want to cum, even if it is through a phone. So when I once dated someone who lived around hundreds of miles away, and we had plenty of video sex. Granted, that's a little different from filming the act itself, but it certainly got me comfortable with seeing my body from every angle and on a screen. Then around 10 years ago, an ex of mine suggested we pull out the camera during sex. I was open to the idea and before I knew it, we were watching ourselves during our very own 'live show', shagging in the missionary position. He held the phone camera up with the lens facing towards us and pushed record. I had no apprehensions – because I trusted my partner implicitly – and we had a lot of fun making our two-minute-long clip. I'm not sure what else the lens captured though because we deleted our homemade porn straight afterwards. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big champion for enjoying the look and feel of your own body. It deserves your attention. But it's one thing to spend some time in front of the mirror looking at your beautiful shape (which I urge you to do) – it's quite another to see your own sex face in action and at that time I wasn't quite ready to see that. To some extent I still felt that way a few years later when my partner, Beau*, first suggested we film ourselves having sex using his phone. I truly never thought I'd watch the clip back and I had every intention of deleting it once we were finished, but I must have forgotten. Now I'd stumbled across the sexy video again and I couldn't help but be intrigued. At first, as I watched the scene unfold, I was a little embarrassed. Then I realised that I was sitting alone in my bedroom with no one looking over my shoulder, and so I decided to just go for it. I was shocked to discover just how hot it can be to watch yourself have sex. I also hadn't expected it to be a turn-on but it definitely was. Some people may consider this egomaniacal or self-involved, which is your prerogative. But my pleasure didn't come from admiring myself on screen, but rather memories that the film brought back. The clip was only about 60 seconds long – I'm not even sure it falls under the category of sex tape, but that's besides the point – but it still made my toes curl as I thought about how much fun I'd had that night and what followed after we'd put the phone down. It also gave me a confidence boost of sorts. Rather than feel critical of my frame (I have hang-ups just like anyone else) I felt brave for exposing myself. More than that, rediscovering my sex tape helped me see my body in a new light. Agree on the content ahead of time Don't rush into it Try foreplay before the camera starts rolling Don't be afraid to stick to what you know Protect your tape And I'm not the only one. Ten years ago, a YouGov poll found that 16% of Britons aged 25 to 39 years old had turned the camera on themselves while 3% of those aged over 60 had also made their own sex tapes. I don't have any proof but I suspect that number could be much higher now, especially as phone cameras have improved! So if you, like me, feel excited by the thought of turning the camera on yourself during a sexy set-up – go for it. You could role play, dress up and live out your wildest fantasy on screen. Or just do what my lovers and I did, and keep the set-up more casual. But before you pick up the camera, remember there are risks to documenting your sex life in this way. If you're making an amateur sex tape with someone else, there needs to be clear boundaries on what happens to the clip once you're finished: I highly recommend you do this with someone you know and trust, rather than turning a one-night-stand or casual hook-up into your very own horny home movie. And please, keep any sensitive images or videos of this kind in a password-protected folder. In my case, I only said yes to filming our sex act because I had control over what would happen with the material. Beau told me that he was fine with keeping our clip on my phone because his face wasn't visible – only mine was – and therefore I knew that I was more at risk, should it be leaked. Out of respect to my boyfriend, I have since deleted the evidence of my fabulously torrid past long ago. I don't feel the need to relive those sexual experiences because my sex life is now pretty great. More Trending Our current bedroom activities don't need spicing up, but I will say it got me thinking: perhaps it's time to film things again with my partner? To be continued in private, or behind the camera… * Name has been changed View More » This piece was originally published in November 2024. Do you have a story you'd like to share?
