Britain's Got Talent star receives life-saving surgery days before semi-final

Britain's Got Talent star CJ Emmons received life-saving surgery just days before his live semi-final performance. The singer appeared on this Saturday's episode of the talent show, performing 'It's a Man's Man's Man's World' by James Brown. Following his impressive rendition, CJ shared just how much the competition meant to him, having recently undergone surgery. "Two weeks ago, I was in the hospital receiving life-threatening surgery, and I fought for that, and I'm fighting for this. I want this so bad," he told hosts Ant and Dec. Prior to the live show, CJ revealed that he was recovering from major gallbladder surgery, but insisted: "I won't let it stop me from my dream and goal." "They cut into my abdominal wall and every time after that, it's been hurting to sing. But my doctor's like, 'keep singing, strengthen it, strengthen it, and it's going to get better,'" he explained to the Mirror. "So there's still a bit of pain. But I can tell it's getting stronger and stronger." Related: After returning home to California following his audition, the star suffered severe abdominal pains and took himself to the hospital where he was given emergency surgery. "My gallbladder was completely dead," said CJ. "It was turning [gangrenous] and it was about to explode and turn sepsis, which would have proved fatal." "They were going to do an emergency surgery that night, but I was so badly infected. They had to pump me full of antibiotics for two days and then I had the surgery on May 3." Related: Britain's Got Talent star performs spontaneous audition song with "a twist" Despite the major operation, CJ expressed his determination to face the live semi-finals, adding: "It can't stop me. I'm ready to hit that stage." "When I did my first gig on the 14th, that was literally a week after the surgery, I broke down crying because I was so thankful to God that I was able to sing a note. I was able to perform. I found strength in that." He continued: "It does add an extra layer because in the back of my mind, when that doctor told me that if I wouldn't have checked myself into the hospital at the time that I did, if I would have waited one more day, it would have proved fatal. "At that time, I've never felt so human in my life. So this lets me know that I'm supposed to be doing this." Unfortunately, CJ didn't make it through to next week's final but could still return to the competition if selected as a Wildcard. Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX. Britain's Got Talent star underwent life-saving surgery days before semi-finals

Britain's Got Talent star CJ Emmons has revealed that he underwent vital surgery just weeks before his live performance. The semi-finalist, who appeared on Saturday night's episode, didn't manage to secure the all-important Golden Buzzer to make it through to the finals next week but fans are hoping he might get the coveted wildcard slot. Regardless, the 42-year-old singer has certainly gone on an emotional journey after revealing live on stage that he had received serious surgery just weeks earlier. 'Two weeks ago I was in the hospital receiving life-threatening surgery, and I fought for that, and I'm fighting for this. I want this so bad,' he said. He went into further detail about it in a chat with The Mirror in which he added that it had been 'hurting to sing'. 'I won't let it stop me from my dream and goal,' he said as he continued his recovery. Then added: 'They cut into my abdominal wall and every time after that, it's been hurting to sing. 'But my doctor's like, 'keep singing, strengthen it, strengthen it, and it's going to get better.' So there's still a bit of pain. But I can tell it's getting stronger and stronger.' 'I'm here to fight. I'm here to win,' he added. He returned to California ahead of the semis and rushed himself to hospital at the start of the month after experiencing severe abdominal pain. After being told his gallbladder was 'completely dead' he discovered it was 'turning gangrene' and was about to 'explode and turn sepsis' which would have been fatal. After being pumped full of antibiotics, he went into surgery on May 3 and has been recovering ever since. It was not the only shocking moment from Saturday's semi-final. Magician Harry Moulding blew the judges, audience and fans away after incorporating a live proposal into the end of his set which secured him a place in the finals. After an elaborate build-up, audience member Jess was called up to the stage where she watched a pre-recorded video from her boyfriend. The boyfriend then appeared on stage with a wedding ring and said: 'I love you more than anything. Will you do me the honour. Will you marry me?' to which she offered a delighted yes. The sweet stunt didn't impress everybody, however, with some viewers casting doubt on just how real the spectacle was. More Trending Alongside Harry, the line-up for the Britain's Got Talent finale include The Blackouts, Vinnie McKee, Ping Pong Pang, Stacey Leadbeatter, Jasmine and Jasmine Rice among others for in the ultimate showdown. This year the final will last two hours and 45 minutes. The winner is vying for a spot at the annual Royal Variety Performance and a £250,000 cash prize. Not too bad. Britain's Got Talent star reveals he underwent life-saving surgery just days before performing in semi-finals

Britain's Got Talent star CJ Emmons shared a heartbreaking admission just days before performing in tonight's semi-finals. The performer left the audience in tears after sharing he was in hospital receiving life-threatening surgery this week. Judge guest KSI made his comeback for the fifth and last semi-final, with hosts Ant and Dec announcing he'd been given his own Golden Buzzer, which he used to send through magician Harry Moulding. For his return, KSI, 31, joined Simon Cowell, 65, Amanda Holden, 54, Alesha Dixon, 46 and Bruno Tonioli, 69, as eight acts battled it out for a chance to win the £250,000 prize and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance. After CJ's incredible performance, the audience were left begging the YouTuber to press the Golden Buzzer. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. He explained: 'Two weeks ago I was in the hospital receiving life-threatening surgery, and I fought for that, and I'm fighting for this.' 'I want this so bad,' he added. Fans thought that CJ should have got the Golden Buzzer - but he missed out. Taking to X, people shared their thoughts on the performance. One wrote: 'One of the best singers I have ever seen on the show if not the best! This is why the show annoys me. A brilliant act left hoping for a public vote.' Another penned: 'CJ Emmons that was an epic performance!!! How on earth was he not given the Golden Buzzer?' A third added: '@CJ_Emmons absolutely PHENOMENAL on BGT tonight ….. you should have won.' For his performance, Harry appeared to pull a couple from the audience for his illusion. And it took an emotional turn as a lucky woman named Jess received a surprise proposal from her partner during Harry's act. While the live audience were left in tears, viewers were quick to question the authenticity of the proposal, as both Jess and her partner already boast a large following on TikTok. For his performance, Harry appeared to pull Jess from the audience for his illustion, before playing a clip that he'd recorded in Paris, that showed her boyfriend being asked where he would like to get married. He then replied: 'Here, in Paris,' before making his way onto the stage and getting down on one knee to pop the question. Quickly accepting the proposal, Jess placed her hands over her mouth in pure shock, with the judging panel so in awe, that Harry received a Golden Buzzer, giving him a spot in the semi-final. However viewers watching from home weren't quite convinced, with some taking to X to share their thoughts, with others noting Jess already has a large online following. Posts included: 'Jess has 77k followers on TikTok; And now a 'surprise proposal' from the partner of Jess he randomly met in Paris. Total fix #bgt;' '#BGT #BritainsGotTalent. F**k right off, do they think the viewers are some sort of mugs or what? Harry, gets 11 minutes for his "Act".. Then gets the f**ing Golden buzzer.. Complete fix, they are all in on it.. Not Magic at all, all completely rehearsed.. And bad acting by Jess.' But some defended the act, writing: 'Everyone saying that Harry's act was a fix, staged, a set up and that Jess and her boyfriend are actors etc. - you have absolutely *no idea* how illusions work. Just enjoy it for what it is and be happy for the talented guy who delivered it. #bgt;' 'She was amazing, my family knew she would win, plus harry was amazing bless jess for getting proposed to, can't wait to see them in the final.'

ITV Britain's Got Talent's contestant health struggles exposed ahead of semi-final

Britain's Got Talent has been hit with health struggles ahead of tonight's semi-final as both Jerry Pop and CJ Emmons have been battling injuries and illness Britain's Got Talent has captivated audiences for weeks, and we're approaching the climax as tonight marks the last live semi-final. Opening the night were dancer Jerry Pop and vocalist CJ Emmons, both delivering stellar performances despite facing health adversities in the lead-up to their spotlight moment. Jerry disclosed a setback in his BGT VT, sharing that he sustained an ankle fracture while playing basketball. This mishap led to less rehearsal time and a need to absorb dance routines from the sidelines. ‌ At the conclusion of his routine, Jerry admitted that his medical boot was removed just two to three weeks prior to his performance this evening, reports the Mirror. ‌ CJ, filled with emotion after belting out James Brown's 'It's A Man's Man's Man's World', confided in presenters Ant and Dec about his recent brush with mortality. With visible tears, CJ opened up about his ordeal. He expressively recounted to Ant and Dec: "Two weeks ago I was in the hospital having life threatening surgery," adding, "I fought for that, and I'm fighting for this. I want this so bad." Earlier this week, the star disclosed that he was recuperating from gallbladder surgery. "They cut into my abdominal wall and every time after that, it's been hurting to sing. But my doctor's like, 'keep singing, strengthen it, strengthen it, and it's going to get better.' So there's still a bit of pain. But I can tell it's getting stronger and stronger," he shared. This revelation followed a show-stopping performance that had the audience urging guest judge KSI to utilise his Golden Buzzer privileges to fast-track the star directly to the final. However, the YouTuber chose to reserve his power, later awarding it to magician Harry. Nonetheless, Amanda Holden reassured the performer that he needn't worry as the public would undoubtedly rally behind him. ‌ This year, fans have had to exercise more patience than usual to discover which acts have advanced to the final due to a scheduling reshuffle. Typically, the ITV talent show would broadcast the semi-finals consecutively over one week. But that's not the only alteration. For the first time in its history, the show has incorporated the Golden Buzzer feature in the semi-final. ‌ Originally, this feature was employed during auditions to automatically advance an act to the semi-finals, bypassing the shortlisting process. However, this year, the judges wield more influence than ever before. Each week, one of them is granted the authority to propel one act directly to the final, with the other finalist being determined by public vote. ‌ This evening marked the final appearance of the Golden Buzzer for this year, with future decisions now resting entirely in the hands of the audience. Dance LED troupe The Blackouts wrote their names into the Britain's Got Talent annals during the inaugural semi-final by becoming the first act to receive the Golden Buzzer at this advanced stage of the competition. It was a momentous occasion for Amanda Holden as she exercised her privilege to make an exceptionally challenging choice. "Your audition took our breath away and this evening, it was even better," Amanda confessed before hitting the pivotal buzzer. "I cannot wait to see what you do in the final," she announced, sharing in the euphoria on stage with them.
