EastEnders reveals first look at two major returns as funeral is confirmed

Metro3 days ago
EastEnders has officially confirmed former stars Max Bowen and Ricky Champ will reprise their soap roles in the same storyline later this year.
The actors will head back to the show as Ben Mitchell and Stuart Highway, albeit for a brief period.
While the full details of their returning storyline haven't been revealed, we now know that they will head back to Walford later this Autumn for the funeral of Jonno, the father of Stuart and Callum Highway (Tony Clay).
The two characters will be back alongside Callum and also Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff).
With Callum having recently cheated with Johnny, and with those feelings expected to grow, Ben may not be revisiting the happy family he left behind.
Ben will be on day release from prison in America, while Stuart will only visit due to having a life away from Albert Square with Rainie (Tanya Franks).
You'd think that things would be all smooth sailing given it will only be a temporary return, but an awful lot can happen in a short amount of time where Walford is concerned.
Max and Ricky are currently filming, and will appear in a handful of episodes later this year.
Ben departed life in Albert Square in 2024. He was arrested for fraud and sent to prison in the USA.
It came shortly after the death of Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold), the mother of Ben's daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown).
Ben went to prison because he was arrested for stealing someone's credit card, and making a number of purchases while exploring treatment options for Lola – who had a brain tumour – in the States.
Ben and Callum vowed to make their relationship work while he was behind bars, but things have gotten somewhat complicated.
Callum and Johnny shared a surprise kiss during the Pride event at The Albert, which effectively ended Johnny's romance with recently departed Felix Baker (Matthew James Morrison).
The guilt didn't stop Callum going back for more, but their secret affair was soon uncovered by Ben's furious father Phil (Steve McFadden), who violently attacked Johnny.
Since then, the pair have cooled things off, with Callum insisting he is committed to waiting for Ben.
Despite this, they've not really been able to keep their hands off each other.
Stuart got his happy ending with Rainie in 2022. The two characters departed to start life again elsewhere.
When Stuart was introduced in 2018, he often expressed his violent and dark side. The character revealed that he had been sexually abused as a child, explaining why he would often hunt down paedophiles and have them arrested.
Stuart was also seen terrorising the Carter family. One storyline in particular saw him shoot himself in the leg, but framed Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) so he could go to prison.
In a two-hander episode, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) pretended to get close to Stuart, just so she could get him to admit that Mick never shot him.
When Mick was released, he tried to scare Stuart out of Walford, but he went to live with Dot Branning (June Brown).
Shortly after this and the death of Dot's friend Doctor Legg, Stuart tried to rebuild his life. This eventually led to him starting a relationship with Rainie but this had many ups and downs as well, as Stuart faced a cancer diagnosis, as well as battled male PND.
Richard Graham portrayed Stuart and Callum's father Jonno for a short period in 2019.
He was first introduced to us when Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), Callum's fiancé at the time, contacted him. It was then revealed that Jonno wasn't a good father to Callum and Stuart as they grew up, and that he would often subject Stuart to violence.
At the time, he tried to tell his sons that he was a changed man, but his true colours were revealed when he had a fight with Ben after making it clear he was homophobic, and then pinned Callum up against a wall.

Jonno was thrown out of Walford but returned two months later, curious as to how Callum's wedding went, unaware that it never happened. Callum came out as gay to his dad, and a disgusted Jonno accused Ben of turning his son 'into one of them'. More Trending
Jonno was punched by Phil after this, and he threatened to go to the police. The punters in the Queen Vic, including Whitney, all decided to deny seeing Phil attack Jonno.
He then left, disowning Callum as he departed.

But it seems three years on the memories are still fresh in the star's mind, and while she said it was 'the best thing she's ever done' she said: 'It was worse than you could even imagine. When I watched it back, there's so much more that they didn't even show. 'When we had mic packs, when they'd change the packs, you weren't allowed to talk. It was severe. There was never 'cut, cast can chill for a bit.' 'It was intense. Brutal.' Maisie eventually won the show when she participated in the endurance challenge – joining Calum Best, Ferne McCanne and AJ Pritchard to pass the test. Though she noted that her experience, which was set in the deserts of Jordan, took a toll on her physically and mentally, before bursting into tears. Voice of TV's Mr Benn dies aged 86

Ray Brooks, best known as the voice of the 1970s children's television show Mr Benn, has died at the age of 86. The actor, who also played Joe Macer in EastEnders , died peacefully on Saturday, surrounded by loved ones, after a short illness. According to a family statement, he had spent the last few years living with dementia. Brooks's sons Will and Tom said: 'His three true loves were family (he also had a daughter Emma, who died in 2003), Fulham Football Club, and spending time in Brighton, where he was born.' The cartoon Mr Benn, narrated by Brooks, follows a character who enters a magical costume shop and travels to new places based on the costumes he wears. Despite only releasing 13 episodes, it became well-known to generations of children as the episodes were repeated twice a year for more than 21 years. Brooks went on to appear in a host of different prime time television shows including ITV's Coronation Street, in which he played Norman Philips. He also starred in the BBC comedy drama Big Deal, which followed gambler Robbie Box as he tried to make a living by betting while also trying to maintain his relationship with Jan, played by Sharon Duce. Brooks earned himself a number of film credits, including a role in The Knack... And How To Get It, which won the 1965 Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. A year later he starred in Ken Loach's Cathy Come Home, which documented the impact of Britain's housing shortage in the late 1960s.

Disgusted EastEnders fans 'rumble' Joel's revenge on Stacey - but downfall 'sealed'

EastEnders fans believe a spoiler for Monday's episode and a scene last week has revealed how vile teen Joel Marshall targets Stacey Slater, but it could lead to his own downfall Viewers of EastEnders believe a new teaser for the BBC soap has let slip what Joel Marshall does after targeting Stacey Slater. It was clear he had revenge in mind after she put him in his place last week over his vile views and comments about women. ‌ Stacey ended up slapping Joel across the face with her cousin Kat Moon barring him from the pub after his remarks aimed at her. But after months of vile behaviour, most of which targeted at women, the character turned on Stacey, not helped by Kat's son Tommy Moon. ‌ It comes after Stacey's stalking ordeal not so long ago, with her also posting adult content onto a webcam site. After her stalker Theo attacked her and she realised he was subscribing to her cam posts, she appeared to delete everything, or at least stopped using the site. ‌ That's all in the past, or at least it was until someone leaks photos and videos of her from her cam posts this coming week. Last week we saw Tommy tell Joel all about Stacey's ordeal off the back of her posting content. We later saw Joel finding Stacey's profile and pulling a smirk on his face, clearly plotting. Fans now believe they know what he's done, after a preview clip for Monday's episode teased something was about to hit Stacey just as she is feeling like everything is on track. ‌ She's shown telling Kathy Beale about how things are going, and how her daughter Lily Slater is returning to Walford that evening. Sharing her excitement, she gets distracted when she notices people looking at her. She's not wrong either, with multiple café customers staring at her and making quiet comments, while also pulling judgemental or awkward faces. Kathy hasn't even noticed and tells Stacey as such, but then we see Tommy and Joel staring at her too from across the market. Joel looks smug, and it's evident he's done something and it's likely linked to what the customers are talking about. Stacey remains unaware though and heads off, but soon she makes a troubling discovery. ‌ Stacey is told at some point that her SecretCam photos and videos have been leaked online. Stacey is mortified but immediately works out Joel is likely behind it given their showdown days before. She wastes no time in heading over to confront him, but Joel denies having anything to do with it. As Ross Marshall hurries his son home Joel continues to deny it, and Ross accepts this when he sees his laptop. ‌ But fans are convinced Joel is the one to blame given his recent actions and him finding the site last week. They believe this is his revenge against her after she put him in his place. One fan speculated: "Joel's done something from that online adults page she had." Another fan agreed: "He leaks Stacey's photos & videos from her Cam days online," as a third said: "I know he's shared her pics." A further post added: "I knew he was gonna do that from when he found her profile I think Tommy might have helped with that." But could Joel have triggered his own downfall? It's been revealed that Stacey reports Joel to the police and now fans think this could lead to him getting into trouble. One viewer said: "Then he can be charged for that." Another fan wrote: "I mean she'll report him to the police and they'll examine his laptop and find evidence even if he deletes history. Yes? So the incel with curtains will be gone."
