Chris Eubank Jr must pay new fine before being allowed to face Conor Benn again
Chris Eubank Jr must pay a fine of £10,000 before the British Boxing Board of Control license him for his rematch with Conor Benn.
The British boxing star was handed the fine by the Board for misuse of social media. Last week, the Board's Southern Area Council held a hearing for Eubank Jr, looking into his weight-making for his initial encounter with Benn back in April. 'Next Gen' sent alarm bells ringing after the Brit appeared to have violated the Board's rules.
It came when he posted footage on social media that implied he was using a sauna to make the official weight. Eubank Jr famously missed weight a day before the fight. The 35-year-old weighed 160.2lbs on his first attempt and 160.05lbs on his second and final attempt and was fined £375,000. On the morning of the fight, he was contracted to be no more than 10lbs higher. He avoided another fine after he weighed in at 169.4lbs.
In an attempt to make the weight, it was alleged that he used a sauna to help with the cut - which is against the Board's rules. That said, from evidence provided by Eubank Jr and his team, the Board inquiry ruled that he was NOT guilty of using a sauna on the day of the official weigh-in - but consider him guilty of 'improper use of social media.'
The Board's Southern Area Council said: "Mr. Eubank Jnr. was found to be in breach of Regulation 25 for misuse of social media. The Southern Area Council fined Mr. Eubank Jnr. the sum of £10,000. Mr. Eubank Jnr. was confirmed as arriving late for the official weigh-in ceremony for the contest in question and received a severe reprimand placed on his file from the Southern Area Council."
In an epic back-and-forth encounter, Eubank Jr would eventually go on to get his hand raised on points and - in doing so - handing Benn the first loss of his professional career. "I knew I was capable of that. I just needed someone to bring it out of me," said Eubank Jr. "I didn't expect Conor to be the guy to do that. I didn't know he had that in him, I thought I would break him early. I underestimated him, I didn't prepare for a fight like that. The fact our fathers fought years ago brought out a different spirit and I am happy to have my father with me. He needed to be here. All this is because of him."
Immediately after the clash, Eubank Jr was rushed to hospital for medical attention. An official tweet from BOXXER - the 35-year-old's promoters - read: "On recommendation of the onsite doctor, Chris Eubank Jr has been taken to hospital by ambulance for precautionary checks."
After going the distance, Eubank Jr had a huge cut above his right eye with his face looking battered and swollen, while Benn suggested his rival had suffered a broken jaw, stating: "I wish him well. I know he's gone to the hospital, I have heard he's got a broken jaw do I wish him a speedy recovery."
When is the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn rematch?
Last month, Saudi boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh confirmed that the two Brits will go head-to-head for a second time on September 20 in London. The card will be a Riyadh Season event and promoted by Sela, Boxxer and Matchroom.
The fight will once again be contested at the middleweight limit of 160 pounds, with a 10-pound rehydration clause in place, just as there was for the first bout. No venue has yet been confirmed and the final decision will be made by Turki Alalshikh and Ring Magazine, Benn's promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed as he cited Tottenham and Wembley as possible venues.
He said: "Spurs is contracted - it's a fantastic stadium and it worked extremely well the first time. Obviously, it was sold out and this fight's even bigger, so you could possibly look at Wembley to increase the capacity, but that will be a decision for His Excellency and Ring Magazine to make the final call."

Q&A: What next for rising star Moses Itauma after blowing away Dillian Whyte?
Whyte was expected to provide a stern test for the 20-year-old, but instead became the latest boxer to be steamrolled by one of the most exciting names in the blue-riband division. Here, the PA news agency takes a look at what lies ahead for Itauma and if he really is a world heavyweight champion in waiting. 'Moses would beat Usyk now' 👀@Tyson_Fury believes Moses Itauma is the real deal 🤝 — Queensberry Promotions (@Queensberry) August 17, 2025 Well, this was a statement result for the Chatham southpaw – no matter the level of Whyte, who was fighting on the biggest stage for the first time since 2022. Itauma was predicted to win in Riyadh but not as convincingly as he managed against a former world title contender. Even though the challenge in the ring only last 119 seconds, Itauma was tested during fight week. Whyte attempted to get under his skin during a prickly face-off and they also traded verbal blows at a press conference. But Itauma stayed cool, calm and collected on his first time headlining before letting his fists do the talking, just like in notable victories over Demsey McKean and Mariusz Wach. A post shared by Moses ITAUMA (@ Itauma's triumph on Saturday certainly caught the eye of Tyson Fury, who immediately insisted the Briton would beat Oleksandr Usyk – and the name of undisputed world heavyweight champion Usyk continues to be linked with Itauma. Straight after Usyk demolished Daniel Dubois last month, Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh called for the Ukrainian great to fight Itauma next. A recent 40-minute media session for Itauma with British press also saw him thrown a number of questions on Usyk. Itauma claimed that he would lose nothing from fighting Usyk now, but will Queensberry promoter Frank Warren put his young prospect in with a seasoned veteran after only 13 professional fights? Even if the answer is yes, Usyk has other contenders in the queue ahead of Itauma. 'I don't want to call out Usyk because I don't believe I deserve the opportunity – but guys that do deserve the opportunity, I want to fight those lot,' Itauma said. Itauma will wait with bated breath to discover Usyk's next move. Usyk has been ordered to fight WBO interim champion Joseph Parker next but has asked for an extension to negotiations. There is a very feasible scenario where Usyk vacates his WBO belt – and therefore loses undisputed status – to fight Fury or someone else, and opens the door for Itauma to get a world title shot in 2026. With Itauma the current number one with WBO, he would be first in line to profit if Usyk relinquishes that belt as a bout with Parker would be quickly arranged. Agit Kabayel, currently WBC interim champion, is a candidate for Itauma. There is also the prospect of another domestic affair, with Derek Chisora and Lawrence Okolie ringside in Riyadh, but after this latest devastating display, Itauma may have his sights set on bigger and better opponents on the grandest of stages.

Police launch major crime review of Nuked Blood Scandal evidence
Top cops say they are taking allegations of a criminal over-up by the British state "very seriously" and have launched a review of the Nuked Blood evidence Police have launched a major crime review to assess evidence of a state cover-up about human radiation experiments on troops. Officers say they are taking "very seriously" allegations that officials at the Ministry of Defence may have hidden a blood testing programme that took place during nuclear weapon trials in the Cold War. Parliament and the courts have repeatedly been told no monitoring of troops took place. Details of blood and urine testing, and chest x-rays, have subsequently been found on a secret database at the Atomic Weapons Establishment, locked from view on the grounds of national security. News of the review comes after the Mirror revealed the names of Boris Johnson, Keir Starmer, and serving government officials had been handed to police as potential witnesses. Alan Owen of campaign group LABRATS said: "Veterans have been waiting 70 years to be taken seriously, and it is a relief to know these issues are being looked into at long last. What we need now is a thorough police investigation to expose the MoD's institutional rot to the light." The Nuked Blood Scandal blew open after the Mirror uncovered a 1958 memo discussing the "gross irregularities" found in blood tests of Group Captain Terry Gledhill, who flew through the mushroom clouds. The data collected by weapons scientists was later found to be missing from his medical files. A complaint was made to the Met Police in May, with a 500-page dossier of evidence. The Met refused to investigate, saying it was the jurisdiction of Thames Valley Police, which oversees the county of Berkshire where the AWE is based. Victims Commissioner Baroness Newlove intervened to urged a decision in veterans' interests, as campaigners felt the scandal's connections to government and Whitehall made it the Met's responsibility. Chief Constable Jason Hogg of Thames Valley Police said: "Given the extent and complexity of the material within the dossier, and the seriousness and complexities of the crimes alleged against a range of bodies and individuals, TVP is undertaking a thorough review to assess for the crimes that may need to be investigated and where the ownership of an investigation should most appropriately sit. "Please be assured that TVP is taking this very seriously and that momentum is not being lost; we have our highly experienced head of TVP's Major Crime Review Team personally undertaking the review, reporting into one of my assistant chief constables. This is critical groundwork for circumstances of such significance and scale." He said the force was liaising with the Met "to ensure that, for the victims' sake, the decision on ownership and set-up by policing of any required criminal investigation ensures that it is conducted in the most effective way." It comes as the Lib Dems have urged Labour and the Tories to confirm they will co-operate with any investigation. Defence spokesman Helen Maguire said: "As MPs, we owe it to our veterans to assist them in their pursuit of justice, and do whatever it takes to uncover the truth. As more and more of our nuclear test veterans pass away each week, I urge anyone with information to come forward, and the government must go further and faster in their efforts for the veterans." A ministerial review of the files is underway and the first part of the AWE database is due to be declassified later this year. The government says the criminal allegations are false and there is no evidence to support them.

And after just 23 minutes of play, the No1 seed sat down on his chair and retired from the game, saying he felt like he could collapse. Sinner told trainers and a tournament official: "I cannot move - I feel like I can collapse." He apologised to fans as medics rushed over to treat him. Sinner was heard saying: "I tried, but I can't. I'm sorry for the fans." The 24-year-old cast an emotional figure as he sat down before Alcaraz came over to console him. Speaking after receiving his runner-up trophy, Sinner said: "I'm super sorry to disappoint you. From yesterday, I didn't feel great. 'I thought I would during the night but it got worse. The main draw for the men's singles US Open will commence from Sunday. Sinner also congratulated Alcaraz on the victory, which was the 22-year-old's eighth Masters title. He added: "Congrats to Carlos for another title. For sure, not the way you wanted it but it's amazing what kind of season you are producing. "To you and your team, I wish you the best for the US Open and the rest of the season. "To my team, thank you for pushing me every day and understanding me and the situation today. "I'm sorry to disappoint but sometimes it's like this and we have to accept it. "It's been one of the hottest tournaments we have faced, so thank you for all of the support and organisation." Alcaraz admitted it was not the way he wanted to win the game before also issuing an apology. But in a classy gesture, he called Sinner a "true champion" and declared that he would "come back better, even stronger". THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY..
