CLEMSON — Clemson football 2025 signee Marquise Henderson was involved in an alleged locker room incident before being dismissed from the program June 19, according to records obtained by The Greenville News.
A police officer was dispatched to Allen Reeves Football Complex at 3:20 p.m. ET on June 16 to "take a report of threats," per a Clemson University Police Department incident report. Another officer came because of the "severity of the allegations and the potential to interview multiple people." Henderson was not arrested or charged with any crime, and the case is listed as "active."

Officers met with an employee who stated a student had approached him regarding a locker room incident between other players and Henderson. All names were redacted in the report except for Henderson and the responding officers.
The report says Henderson had a verbal altercation after players had been "chastising" him for missing workouts, which caused Henderson to become angry and allegedly threaten to "fade" players and get his boys to "run up on them." The student also alleged that Henderson showed them a picture of a gun during the incident. The employee also mentioned that he had heard of a photo of a firearm being shown.
The report said an officer spoke with another employee who also heard about threats from Henderson from a student, but that student did not mention a photo of a firearm.
When reached for comment, a Clemson athletics spokesperson said to refer to the team's statement on the day of Henderson's dismissal. It read: "Clemson has made the decision to dismiss Marquise Henderson from its program. We wish him the best as he moves forward." The spokesperson deferred comment to Clemson coach Dabo Swinney, who is scheduled to speak to the media July 15.

Officers interviewed two players. In the first interview, an unidentified player could not recall Henderson threatening anyone, but they were getting on Henderson for missing workouts and insults, not threats, were said. The player added that someone showed him a picture of a firearm on a phone but said he did not know who did it or where the picture came from.
The second player did not recall any threats made by Henderson and had no knowledge of a picture of a firearm being shown.
Henderson, who committed to Clemson on Dec. 11, 2023, entered the transfer portal on June 20 and announced his commitment to Liberty on X on June 25. His X account has removed any mention of committing to Liberty as of July 14. He became the seventh Clemson player to enter the portal this cycle.
Henderson, 18, was a four-star athlete and the No. 4 player in South Carolina, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. In his senior season at Belton-Honea Path, he rushed for 2,122 yards with 26 touchdowns to make first-team All-Upstate.

Henderson was a mid-year enrollee, showing up on campus during Clemson's College Football Playoff preparations. He missed most of spring practice with a hamstring injury.
