Two-day visit: Shah in Kolkata today, to hold meet with eye on 2026 polls
Two days after Prime Minister Modi's visit to Alipurduar district in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata on Saturday night.
According to sources in the state BJP, Shah during his two-day visit, is scheduled to hold some crucial meetings with senior leaders as well as attend a series of official and party programmes on Sunday.
He will be staying at a hotel off EM Bypass.
His Sunday itinerary includes a series of programmes: Amit Shah will inaugurate the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Rajarhat, said sources and will then return to the hotel to hold a series of meetings.
Around 2 pm, he will be addressing the party workers and leaders at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, in Kolkata.
According to a senior party leader, the meeting will focus on the party's blueprint for the Assembly Election in 2026, including key issues affecting the public, concerns over women's safety and security in Bengal and 'the corruption within the TMC.'
'Amit Shah Ji will give us a roadmap for the next Assembly polls in the state. We have never done such a huge sabha, we have done sabha in science city. We want the PM to come every month and make Mission Bengal a success,' Union Minister and BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar said.
After the meeting, the Union Home Minister will visit the ancestral home of Swami Vivekananda at Simla Street in north Kolkata and then return to Delhi.

However, Paswan dismissed speculation about any chief ministerial ambitions. "There is no vacancy for the CM post in Bihar. Nitish Kumar will become the CM after the elections," he said. NEW DELHI: BJP leader Agnimitra Paul on Monday directed her attack at the West Bengal government after the arrest of 22-year-old Instagram influencer Sharmishtha Panoli, alleging a lack of free speech and unequal treatment of communities in the state. BJP targets Congress as Kharge's photo left out of Goa Statehood Day poster
NEW DELHI: The Goa Congress has drawn criticism after failing to include Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's photograph in a banner displayed during last week's Statehood Day celebration. The banner, which featured prominent party leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, state party chief Amit Patkar, and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, was displayed at a meeting in Panaji on May 30. The event was organised after the cancellation of a public meeting in Navelim, South Goa, shere Kharge was expected to attend. The ruling BJP seized the opportunity to criticize the Congress, posting the banner's image on its X handle.
