
Bhavishya portal clears 83 pc Pension Payment Orders in time
New Delhi: At least 83 per cent Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) in superannuation cases of Central Government employees were issued on time in April this year, reflecting the efficiency of the Bhavishya online portal in tracking pension sanction and payment process, according to the official monthly report released on Tuesday.
The report also stated that 61 per cent of pensioners' grievances received on the CPENGRAMS portal have been resolved within a month.
The Centre launched the portal to bring transparency in the redressal process for retired government employees.
As of April 30, Bhavishya is operational in the main Secretariat of 99 Ministries/Departments/Apex Bodies and 1034 attached offices through 9,406 DDOs. A mobile application has also been launched on the Umang platform through which stakeholders can access Bhavishya.
Form 6-A, containing erstwhile 9 Forms/Formats, has revolutionised the processing of pension papers, and a total of 20,003 retiring officials have submitted new Form 6-A in the Bhavishya Portal. This has helped to ensure the PPOs in the superannuation cases are issued on time.
For the 17th month in a row, more than 7,000 grievances have been redressed on the CPENGRAMS portal.
In April, 8,396 pension cases were received on the portal, while 10,200 cases were redressed.
Only 5 per cent of grievances are pending for redressal after three months. The pendency of grievances has markedly decreased from 11,817 grievances at the end of March 2025 to 10,179 grievances at the end of April 2025, the report added.
The monthly report on Central Ministries/ Departments with the focus on the performance on Bhavishya and CPENGRAMS for April was released by the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare.
The Government has accorded the highest priority to the welfare of Central Government Pensioners through digital empowerment.
Bhavishya, an online portal for online tracking of pension sanction and payment process, has ensured the timely issue of PPOs to the retiring employees, while the CPENGRAMS portal brings transparency in the redressal process with the quality resolution of pensioners' grievances, the official statement added.

The move has been welcomed by the Indian Auto LPG Coalition (IAC) as a significant step toward reducing vehicular emissions and improving urban air quality . The IAC described the decision as a forward-thinking intervention in India's ongoing fight against air pollution and a timely recognition of Auto LPG's potential in a diverse clean-fuel ecosystem. Auto LPG Gains Policy Traction in Telangana Speaking on the development, Suyash Gupta, Director General of IAC, said, 'Telangana government's decision to include Auto LPG as an eco-friendly fuel is a positive and timely move in India's fight against rising urban pollution. Including Auto LPG in alternative fuel policies not only helps reduce harmful vehicular emissions but also strengthens India's overall energy security by diversifying our fuel mix.' Auto LPG, already widely used in several countries, is recognised for being a cost-effective and readily available fuel that offers immediate reductions in harmful vehicular emissions such as carbon monoxide and particulate matter. The IAC emphasised that such policies can deliver fast and scalable results, particularly in urban areas struggling with poor air quality. Call for Wider Adoption and OEM Support While welcoming the Telangana move, the IAC also urged other state governments and the Centre to follow suit by formally including Auto LPG in their clean fuel frameworks. The Coalition pointed out that embracing a broad mix of alternative fuels—CNG, electricity, biofuels, and Auto LPG— is essential for an inclusive and effective transition to sustainable mobility. With over 33 crore petrol and diesel vehicles currently on Indian roads, the IAC argued that an outright ban or phase-out of ICE vehicles is unrealistic in the short term. Instead, incentivising retrofitment to cleaner fuels like Auto LPG offers a practical and consumer-friendly path toward emissions reduction. Alignment with National Policy Developments The IAC also applauded the recent move by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to restrict the addition of new petrol and diesel vehicles in e-commerce and aggregator fleets in the Delhi-NCR region starting January 1, 2026. This policy shift aligns with the broader national goal of reducing emissions from fleet-based operations, especially in pollution hotspots. The Indian Auto LPG Coalition reiterated its commitment to working with governments and industry stakeholders to promote fuel diversity and clean transportation. It called on all policymakers to accelerate the adoption of sustainable fuel solutions, particularly in high-density urban centres where the air quality crisis is most severe.

BITS Pilani alumni Raju Reddy donates $1 million to establish Kakatiya Rural Innovation, Technology and Implementation Centre
BITS Pilani, an institute of eminence, has announced the establishment of the Kakatiya Rural Innovation, Technology and Implementation Centre (KRITI-Centre), aimed at enabling students and alumni to create meaningful social impact across India and beyond. This centre will be set up with the help of an endowment contribution of $1 million from BITS Pilani alumni Raju Reddy and his wife Neerja Reddy, both of whom are deeply involved in rural development initiatives. Raju Reddy is an entrepreneur, angel investor, board member, and former Chairperson of BITSAA International. The KRITI-Centre is poised to significantly expand BITS Pilani's engagement in the social impact sphere, building upon the legacy of successful alumni-led initiatives such as Sattva, Nirmaan, Thinkerbell Labs, and Ashoka Changemakers. By harnessing the creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit of BITS students and alumni, the Centre will develop sustainable and scalable solutions to pressing rural and social challenges. PC Mohan Flags ₹28,405 Cr Metro Cost, Calls for Red Line Reassessment
The Union Government has asked for a revision of the cost estimates for Bengaluru's Metro Phase 3A (Red Line), citing its exceptionally high projected cost. The line, planned from Sarjapur to Hebbal, is the most expensive project in Namma Metro's history, estimated at ₹28,405 crore, or ₹776 crore per kilometre. Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan justified the Centre's move, stating that the line is indeed crucial for the city's future transit needs, but that the costs must be reviewed. 'Bengaluru's Metro Phase 3A (Red Line) from Sarjapur to Hebbal is crucial, but at ₹28,405 crore (₹776 crore/km), it is the most expensive project in Namma Metro's history. The Centre has rightly sought revisions. BMRCL will now reassess and aim to reduce the high estimated costs,' Mohan tweeted. The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has directed that an expert agency review the cost estimate before the project receives final approval from the State Government. According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the cost escalations are due to several factors, including: Land acquisition Station construction Underground tunneling and alignment Traction and power supply Signalling and telecommunication systems Train procurement The proposed Red Line spans 36.59 km, with 22.14 km elevated and 14.45 km underground. It will include 28 stations in total — 17 elevated and 11 underground. This stretch is considered vital for connecting the growing IT hubs of Sarjapur with north Bengaluru, including key areas around Hebbal. However, the revised cost structure and implementation timeline will now depend on the findings of the expert review and subsequent decisions by BMRCL.
