Andhra Pradesh proposes electronic manufacturing hubs in Rayalaseema
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu believes that areas like Sri City near Tirupati, Orvakal near Kurnool, Kopparthy, and Hindupur are well-suited for setting up electronics manufacturing industries.
He stated that there is vast potential for electronic component manufacturing in these places in Rayalaseema and directed officials to attract investments for this region, which is close to Bengaluru and Chennai.
During a review meeting on newly drafted Electronics Components Manufacturing Policy 4.0 at the Secretariat, he said Andhra Pradesh has a significant advantage in attracting investments in electronic manufacturing industries.
He advised preparing an action plan to attract $50-100 billion investment in the electronics components manufacturing sector.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the new policy should facilitate large-scale production and instructed officials to ensure the development of a conducive ecosystem alongside the establishment of industries.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the policy is designed to reduce electronics imports, boost domestic production, and focus on exports. They shared that last year, India imported electronic circuit boards worth $70 billion, highlighting the sector's immense demand.
Chandrababu Naidu stressed that self-reliance in electronics and achieving 'Make in India' targets must be prioritised. He said Andhra Pradesh must launch large-scale manufacturing initiatives to meet international demand and also create its brand for these products.
The CM also stated that the government will take steps to promote aspiring entrepreneurs, reiterating the coalition government's vision of 'One Family, One Entrepreneur'.
He noted that cities like Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati offer immense opportunities for setting up IT companies. Allocating space for 500 IT companies in these regions can generate large-scale employment, he said.
Along with IT and ITeS firms in Visakhapatnam, manufacturing industries can be developed from Lepakshi to Orvakal. He also directed the establishment of co-working spaces in these areas.
The CM instructed officials to ensure job opportunities increase in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and other cities in the state. He stressed the need to integrate the skill development portal with other platforms to enhance youth skills in line with future demands.
He also recommended updating academic curricula to meet emerging educational needs, thereby creating opportunities at the state, national, and global levels.

Smart ration cards to be given to 1.45 crore beneficiaries in A.P. from August 25
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Nadendla Manohar announced that smart ration cards will be distributed free of cost to 1.45 crore beneficiaries across the State from August 25 to 31. At a press conference at the Secretariat here on Tuesday, he said the distribution will take place through constituency-level events led by MLAs, district-level programmes by Ministers, and State-wide events under the leadership of the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister. Andhra Pradesh became the first State in India to complete 96.05% KYC for ration cards. About 11.47 lakh people, aged either under five years or above 80, are exempt from KYC. Out of over 16 lakh change requests in ration cards, more than 15 lakh have been approved, Mr. Manohar said. Nearly 9.87 lakh new members have been added, bringing the total beneficiary count to 4.29 crore. Of these, 2.68 crore will receive ration from the Centre and 1.61 crore from the State. The smart cards, similar to debit/credit cards, include the head of household's photo, member names, and are linked via dynamic QR codes for real-time tracking. From next month, ration shops will operate on a fixed schedule. Home delivery continues for the elderly and physically-challenged pensioners. The State has also successfully implemented the Deepam-2 LPG subsidy scheme, transferring over ₹1,500 crore directly into beneficiaries' accounts, the Minister said.

Naidu invites Singapore companies to invest in Quantum Valley
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has invited Singapore companies to explore investment opportunities in the State's upcoming 'Quantum Valley' project, being established in Amaravati. 'This will be the first Quantum Valley in the country and is expected to be operational by January 2026,' he said, noting that the ecosystem will offer ample scope for research, innovation, and global partnerships. He highlighted Andhra Pradesh's strong potential for data centre development during a high-profile roundtable conference with industrialists and business leaders in Singapore on Tuesday. Mr. Naidu pointed out that Andhra Pradesh, particularly Visakhapatnam, has developed the necessary ecosystem to support data centre infrastructure. He revealed that Google is set to establish a major data centre in Visakhapatnam, and that top-tier IT companies like TCS and Cognizant are also in the process of setting up their operations in the region. The Chief Minister emphasised that the Andhra Pradesh government is currently implementing over 20 industry-friendly policies aimed at fostering investment and innovation. He elaborated on the advantages of A.P.'s proactive industrial climate, transparent governance, and sector-specific incentives. As part of his ongoing visit to Singapore, the Chief Minister met representatives from 41 leading companies, presenting the State as an ideal investment destination in the digital infrastructure and technology sectors. Ministers Nara Lokesh, T.G. Bharat, and P. Narayana, along with senior State officials, were present.

North Andhra leaders urge Chief Minister to fast-track Makavarapalem, Paderu medical colleges
Leaders from North Andhra have urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to back their stated commitment to the region's development with concrete action. The Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA) has expressed concern over the abrupt halting of construction work at the Government Medical College in Makavarapalem, which had been progressing well during the YSRCP regime. Similarly, the Paderu Medical College project is moving at a sluggish pace, with key infrastructure yet to be completed. 'In Paderu, three slabs have already been laid and major civil works were completed under the previous government. However, we were surprised to see construction equipment being shifted to Amaravati during a recent site visit,' said A. Aja Sarma, FDNA general secretary. Mr. Sarma said the forum had written to the Chief Minister on July 8, requesting immediate resumption of work. He emphasised that improved access to medical education is crucial for the backward North Andhra region, which has long been neglected by successive governments. Due to the shortage of medical seats, many students from the State are forced to pursue studies in countries like China, Ukraine, and several African nations. 'Setting up and completing government medical colleges is not just a policy decision — it's a necessity,' he said. At Paderu, only 50 of the sanctioned 100 seats were filled in the first batch due to poor infrastructure. With hostels yet to be completed, accommodation for a second batch of students will be a challenge. Of the required 180 staff members, only 79 have been appointed so far, and many posts are being filled on a temporary basis. Former professor at the Centre for Economic and Social Sciences (CESS), C. Ramachandraiah, criticised Mr. Naidu's continued focus on Amaravati at the cost of balanced regional development.
