Is The Pitt season 2 releasing in June 2025? Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on June 14, 2025, 17:30 IST Last updated June 14, 2025, 11:32 IST The Pitt , Max's gripping medical drama starring Noah Wyle, has captivated audiences with its intense real-time storytelling and realistic portrayal of emergency room challenges. After a successful first season, fans are eager to know: Is The Pitt Season 2 releasing in June 2025? Here's everything we know so far. The Pitt Season 2 Release Date: Is June 2025 Possible? Despite some speculation, The Pitt Season 2 is not releasing in June 2025. Multiple reports, including Variety and TVLine, confirm that the second season is slated to premiere in January 2026. Max CEO Casey Bloys emphasized the show's annual release model, noting that Season 2 will debut exactly one year after Season 1's January 2025 premiere. This aligns with the production timeline, as filming began in June 2025, following a similar six-month post-production schedule as Season 1. The January 2026 release date allows Max to maintain a consistent schedule, avoiding the long gaps common in streaming series like House of the Dragon or The Last of Us . While a June 2025 release would have been exciting for fans, it's not feasible given the current production stage. What to Expect from The Pitt Season 2 Plot Season 2 of The Pitt will continue its unique real-time format, covering a single 15-hour shift over 15 episodes. Set approximately 10 months after Season 1, the new season will take place during the Fourth of July weekend, a notoriously chaotic time for emergency rooms due to fireworks accidents, heat-related illnesses, and alcohol-related injuries. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill revealed that this time jump allows for fresh storylines while catching up with the characters' development. A key focus will be on Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball), who was mandated to attend a 30-day rehab program in Season 1 after stealing medication. Season 2 will likely begin on Langdon's first day back at work, exploring his journey to regain trust, particularly with his mentor, Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch (Noah Wyle). Gemmill hinted at addressing broader healthcare issues, including disparities in care for people of color with diabetes, suggesting a socially relevant narrative. How to Watch The Pitt Season 2 The Pitt Season 2 will stream exclusively on Max, with episodes likely releasing weekly on Thursdays, following the Season 1 schedule. All 15 episodes of Season 1 are currently available on Max, allowing fans to catch up before the new season. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . AI toys and games? Barbie maker Mattel teams up with OpenAI to create new products

Your next toy or game may be able to converse with you. Mattel, the El Segundo toy maker behind Barbie and Hot Wheels, said Thursday that it's teaming up with OpenAI, which created popular chatbot ChatGPT, to 'bring the magic of AI to age-appropriate play experiences.' The companies are planning to unveil their first product later this year but haven't said what it will be. A person familiar with the collaboration said it will be for people at least 13 years old. While Mattel's products are popular among kids, the company also markets toys to adults. The joint effort between the toy company and major player in artificial intelligence shows how AI is permeating every part of life, including playtime. 'AI has the power to expand on that mission and broaden the reach of our brands in new and exciting ways,' said Josh Silverman, chief franchise officer at Mattel, in a statement. 'Our work with OpenAI will enable us to leverage new technologies to solidify our leadership in innovation and reimagine new forms of play.' Mattel will have to tackle data privacy and security concerns that come with selling kids products connected to the latest technology. In 2015, Mattel worked with San Francisco startup ToyTalk on a doll known as Hello Barbie. The doll connected to the internet through Wi-Fi and could chat with children and even tell jokes. The toy maker also released Hello DreamHouse, which lit up parts of the house in response to voice commands. The recording of voice data required for the toys sparked concerns from security experts and privacy advocates. They worried about data breaches and the potential hackers could use the toys to talk to kids. Both toys were discontinued. Mattel said in its news release that it will 'emphasize safety, privacy, and security in the products and experiences that come to market.' Mattel also makes popular games such as Uno and Apples to Apples. The company sells a game called Pictionary vs. AI in which players draw pictures and AI guesses what they are. Tech companies are integrating AI assistants into other products including smart glasses. OpenAI announced in May that it was working with Jony Ive, a former Apple executive known for designing iconic products such as the iPhone, to release new AI products. Mattel workers are also using AI to create toys. The toy maker is deploying ChatGPT software to help with tasks such as product development. 'With OpenAI, Mattel has access to an advanced set of AI capabilities alongside new tools to enable productivity, creativity, and company-wide transformation at scale,' said Brad Lightcap, chief operating officer at OpenAI, in a statement. ___ © 2025 Los Angeles Times. 'John Candy: I Like Me,' a documentary from director Colin Hanks and producer Ryan Reynolds, will open the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. It's set to screen on Sept. 4 at Roy Thomson Hall. Candy was a Toronto-born comedian who rose to fame on Canada's sketch comedy show 'SCTV' and went on to star in films such as 'Spaceballs,' 'Uncle Buck,' 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles,' 'National Lampoon's Vacation' and 'Little Shop of Horrors.' He unexpectedly died of a heart attack at age 43 in 1994. 'We love that John's global career started in Toronto. Colin Hanks has made a hugely entertaining film packed with some of Hollywood's biggest stars, but like John, this movie is all heart.' 'John Candy: I Like Me' presents an unvarnished look at the funnyman's life on and off camera, featuring home videos and candid interviews with his family, friends and collaborators. According to the official logline, 'it's the story of a son, husband, father, friend, and professional driven to bring joy to audiences and loved ones while battling personal ghosts and Hollywood pressures.' Amazon MGM is backing the film, which will debut on Prime Video in the fall. 'When you hear the name John Candy, your face lights up. He wasn't just a great actor; he was an even better person,' Hanks and Reynolds said. 'People loved his everyman qualities, but they didn't know how relatable John really was. He went through the same struggles we all do, except now we talk about them. We are incredibly honored to have gotten to know the man better through this process and to bring the real John Candy to audiences starting with his hometown of Toronto.' Other than the opening night film, TIFF's lineup hasn't been released. This year's festival will take place from Sept. 4 through 14.
