Inside the 'chaos' of Ozzy Osbourne's MTV hit reality show
'It was absolutely chaos,' Cameron Glendenning, who worked on the hit MTV series for almost its entire four-season run, exclusively told The Post. '[The family] gave zero warning. There was no, 'Hey, director, heads up, I'm gonna go into the living room and do X, Y, Z.' That s–t did not happen.'

'We monitored them with surveillance cameras in the house,' the Hollywood cinematographer continued. 'And when we would see them doing something insane, we would run in with cameras, but that was it. That was the only heads up that we had.'
Filming Ozzy and the 'Crazy Train' singer's family was so chaotic that the TV crew was often left scrambling to follow the Osbournes when they suddenly decided to leave the house.
'They wouldn't tell us where they were going for dinner. They'd just hop in the car and be like, 'Follow us,'' Glendenning recalled. 'We'd just get in the car, and we would be like, what the f–k is happening?'

'We would all jump in the van in a panic,' he added. 'So we were always ready to go. I swear, it was funny, almost a quick response team.'
Despite the insanity of it all, Glendenning said that those outrageous moments were often the most standout parts of 'The Osbournes.'
'That was a really exhilarating part of that show because it was challenging, like super challenging, for the producers,' he shared.

Glendenning worked as a camera operator and technical supervisor on 'The Osbournes' from the end of its first season in 2002 to its fourth and final in 2005.
He later reunited with the Black Sabbath frontman in 2020 when he served as the cinematographer for 'Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne.'
But 20 years after 'The Osbournes' ended in 2005, and in the wake of Ozzy's shocking death, Glendenning clarified one major misconception about the famous family's hit reality show.

'I would make the argument still to this day that the show was not reality television. That show was a documentary,' he said.
'There was no setups, there was no bulls–t. There is no, 'Hey, we're gonna put the family in this situation,'' he explained. 'The idea, if we were even to suggest something like that, that person wouldn't be at work the next day.'
Glendenning called 'The Osbournes' a unique 'fly-on-the-wall documentary' unlike any project he has 'worked on or known about since.'

'I think that show having the reputation as one of the first reality shows in the way it was kind of categorized, was misleading because it wasn't produced like a reality show,' he said. 'That show was shot like a documentary.'
'It was a real documentary, and it was edited like a reality show, but there's a great distinction there,' he added. 'And I feel like that should be more known about that show. Because there's an integrity to the way that we produced it.'
Glendenning gives Ozzy's wife and co-star, Sharon Osbourne, credit for how it was filmed.

'That was 100% from Sharon Osbourne,' he concluded. 'She would never have tolerated anything that was bulls–t.'
Glendenning revealed that Ozzy's former reality TV crew is 'mourning' the late legend. He also emphasized the late star's commitment and 'total devotion' to his family.
Sue Kolinsky, a producer on the popular show, also reminisced about working with the Prince of Darkness and his family back in the day.
'We realized early on that anything Ozzy did was going to be funny,' Kolinsky told The Post. 'Like making a milkshake – we were gonna have [that be] three minutes of an episode. He was so funny, and he had no idea how funny he was.'
'No one ever said to Ozzy, 'Hey, can you say that again?' Whatever you shot, that's what we had to use,' she added. 'And that's what made the show so brilliant, because it really was real.'

Ozzy's family announced his death on Tuesday following a battle with Parkinson's disease and other health issues.
'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,' they said in a statement to The Post. 'He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.'

The statement was signed by Sharon, as well as Ozzy's children Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.

Below, you'll find a lightly edited version of our chat. What does performing at Madison Square Garden mean to you? Honestly, I wasn't sure how I'd get here—but I always imagined that I would. I've explored so many forms of expression over the years: music, radio, theater. Comedy ended up being the path that carried me forward, but I've always felt drawn to the stage in some form. What's your favorite story from the road? One particularly memorable experience was when I was scheduled to perform at the Beacon Theatre in New York. My flight from Chicago to New York was cancelled at the last minute, and because it was St. Patrick's Day weekend, almost every other flight was fully booked. I ended up taking a 5:30 AM connecting flight from Chicago to Detroit, then from Detroit to Washington, and finally drove all the way to New York. I got stuck in traffic at the New York–New Jersey tunnel and reached the venue just seven minutes before I was supposed to go on stage. It was a chaotic journey, but one I'll never forget. Will you be doing new material at this show? Each time I go back to a city, it's always a new show. This one too is a new show and very close to my heart. This is the 4th special I'm bringing to the USA and each time I come here, I end up wanting to perform a newer show immediately. Advertisement Is there any joke you're particularly excited to perform in the States and Canada? Nothing in particular honestly. I have stories that are four to five hours long, and depending on the room and audience, I get into the rhythm of my art form and try to take everyone on a journey with me. Is this your first time performing in NYC? If not, where have you gone up? I have performed multiple times in NYC before. We started with a dream when we were touring through the U.S. for the first time back in 2018, which eventually led to a goal for us- which was performing at The Garden. In New York, we started with The Town Hall, then Beacon Theatre, after that was The Theatre at MSG and now we're due to perform at The Arena. It was strategically planned and we made our way through these to ensure we're doing it the right way. Advertisement What's next for you? That's a great question. In fact, my team and I have been thinking about what to do after announcing shows like these. Once we announced our sold-out show at The Royal Albert Hall in London, we knew Madison Square Garden was the next sensible step. But what does one do after performing at The World's Most Famous Arena? I'm yet to comprehend. I may start doing shows that are more intimate, I may take a break. For now, I'm only imagining what me and the thousands of others with me are going to feel like on 17th of August. Who are some of your favorite comics working in the US these days? There are so many, but the ones I look up to the most are John Mulaney, Taylor Tomlinson, Nate Bargatze, Hannah Gadsby, Dave Chappelle, Ronny Chieng, Russell Peters and Hasan Minhaj. Capris have new legion of fans, thanks to Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner — but some still hate the trend
Capri pants — those truncated trousers last seen on Carrie Bradshaw during the original run of 'Sex and the City' — are back. The favorites of Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn have acquired a new legion of fans, who prize them for their easy summer vibes. Celebrities Kendall Jenner, Anne Hathaway and Emily Ratajkowski have all stepped out in calf-length leggings recently, and Hailey Bieber was spotted in a polka-dotted pair. Nearly every brand offers its version of the style, from Gap to Reformation to Jacquemus, whose stretchy capris retail for $790. 14 Julie Matos, 48, owns three pairs of capris — and swears by them. But the pants have their haters, mainly millennials who lived through capris' last heyday in the early 2000s — when they were basically shortened versions of the era's low-rise pants, often with tacky embellishments like sparkly embroidery or cargo pockets. 'I hate [capri] leggings with the fury of 1,001 suns!' 'They look wonderful on Audrey Hepburn … but I hate the idea of them on myself with the fury of a thousand suns,' Elisa Mala, a millennial travel writer who lives in Staten Island and did not want to give her age, recently told The Post. 'And I hate [capri] leggings with the fury of 1,001 suns!' she added. Becca Lyn, a 42-year-old registered nurse who lives in Chelsea, told The Post: 'When I look at pictures of myself in capris from when they [were] in fashion, I have only deep regret.' Joe Buglewicz for NY Post 'At my age, which is 42, the fact that they're coming back makes me feel old,' she told The Post. 'I also never thought they were flattering on anybody.' Even men have strong opinions. 'The capri pant flatters almost no one,' said Robert Ossant, fashion historian and co-author of the forthcoming 'The Art of Couture Embroidery.' 'It's the sartorial equivalent of breakup-bangs,' he added, questioning the claim that they were 'back' at all. 'Brands like to push the opposite of whatever is trending — in this case, wide leg pants — to make consumers switch their entire wardrobe up,' he said. 'I will add, supermodels in the south of France pull it off, and that's the main reason capri pants still hold some appeal.' Sometimes called pedal pushers, toreador pants or clam diggers, capris emerged in the 1940s. A German designer named Sonja de Lennart claimed she invented the style, but while she may have given capris their name, Daniel James Cole, an adjunct professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology and co-author of the book 'The History of Modern Fashion,' told The Post that they were in the ether. Celebrities such as Katharine Hepburn and Amelia Earhart helped push the idea of women in pants in the 1930s. But during World War II, American women ditched their dresses en masse, suiting up in jeans or coveralls to work in the factories while the men fought in Europe. Capris, Cole said, were a response to the postwar hyper-feminine styles of Christian Dior — a way for gals to still don trousers without appearing too threatening to the men returning from the front. 'They were sometimes without the slits [at the bottom]. They were sometimes with some sort of detail down towards the hem of them. Hepburn made the pants her signature, donning them in her Oscar-winning turn as a rebellious princess in 1953's 'Roman Holiday' and again as a beatnik bookseller-turned-model in 1957's 'Funny Face.' In 1961, Mary Tyler Moore subverted the role of the subservient TV housewife when she appeared on 'The Dick Van Dyke Show' in a knit turtleneck, ballet flats and black capris — topped off with her insouciant flipped hairdo. 'They were a symbol of youth,' Cole said, and younger cultures would resuscitate them throughout the decades, from post-punkers like the B-52s in the 1980s to pop stars like Britney Spears in the late 1990s. It was that youthful mien that led 23-year-old fashion student Emma Bennett to recently purchase a pair of black and white polka-dotted pedal pushers from web retailer Cider. 'I was definitely going for a '60s vibe when I got them,' the Parsons student told The Post, adding that she was inspired by Elle Fanning's bohemian ensembles in the 2024 Bob Dylan biopic 'A Complete Unknown.' 14 Fashion student Emma Bennett bought a pair of black and white polka-dotted capris to get a ''60s vibe,' she told The Post. I thought getting more clothes that could look like they were from the '60s would make me closer to it.' Forty-eight-year-old stylist Julie Matos, who owns three pairs, has loved them since she was a kid. 'I remember going on a shopping trip with the Girl Scouts when I was young and buying my first pair at Macy's,' the Chinatown resident recalled to The Post. 14 Matos shows off a pair of black capri pants she owns. Toronto-based writer Isabel Slone, who chronicles her fashion obsessions on her newsletter Freak Palace, said that a month ago, she was 'gripped by this feverish desire to own capri pants — specifically a pair of vintage Emilio Pucci leggings.' 14 Matos has three pairs of capris in her fashion lineup. 'It's hard to think of a more glamorous image than the one of Marilyn Monroe wearing pedal pushers with a tight sweater and a scarf tied around her head,' she said. 'It's an image that contains this nonchalant elegance and authenticity that I think a lot of people are striving for today.' Angela Betancourt, 43, initially balked when she heard capris were trending once again. The communications exec frequently wore them in her 20s, until she saw a picture of herself in them. 'I looked really weird,' the Springfield, Massachusetts, mom recalled. 'The photo did not match at all the image I had in my head of how I looked.' She got rid of all her capris, except for a pink linen pair with embroidered lace trim that she scored on sale at Bloomingdale's nearly two decades ago. 14 Angela Betancourt is re-embracing a pair of capri pants from two decades ago. This summer, with the silhouette trending once again, Betancourt took the pink pants out of her closet. She was surprised that they not only fit, but that she loved them. 'I had so much fun wearing them,' she said. 'It's funny: the last time I wore capris, 'Sex and the City' was on, and now my girls are back, and I'm wearing capris again,' she said. 'It just feels right.'

Metallica And Queen Manage The Same Feat
For the past several weeks, both Ozzy Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath have appeared in lofty positions on the charts in the United Kingdom, as listeners in the late rocker's home country mourn his passing and honor his legacy by streaming and buying his biggest hits. As is always the case when such a surge occurs for a sad reason, those tunes have started to decline, especially on the country's rundown of the top rock and metal tracks. That's the tally where Osbourne and Black Sabbath fully displayed their immense popularity, and this frame, as some of Osbourne's most popular tunes and a handful of Black Sabbath cuts fall, several other classics by other superstar acts are able to return to the highest tier. Metallica, Queen and Evanescence Return Four songs return to the top 10 on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart this week. All of them regularly spend time within that region, but they were recently pushed out as Osbourne and Black Sabbath surged. 'Can't Stop' by Red Hot Chili Peppers leaps highest, jumping from No. 12 to No. 7. That tune is followed by a trio of comebacks, including 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen (No. 8), 'Enter Sandman' by Metallica (No. 9), and 'Bring Me to Life' by Evanescence (No. 10). Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath Fall Making room for Metallica, Queen, and others, a pair of Osbourne tunes and two Black Sabbath favorites fall. Last week, Osbourne's 'Mama, I'm Coming Home' and 'No More Tears' sat at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively, and now they dip to Nos. 12 and 13. Black Sabbath sat just behind the group's own frontman at Nos. 6 and 7 with 'War Pigs' and 'Iron Man,' which have now declined in stature to Nos. 15 and 16, respectively. AC/DC, Guns N' Roses and Disturbed Rise Several other popular smashes are also on the rise within the top 10 on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart, though they don't need to return to the highest tier. 'Iris' by Goo Goo Dolls finds its way back to No. 1, swapping spots with 'Paranoid' by Black Sabbath, which dips to the runner-up slot. 'The Sound of Silence' by Disturbed, 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC, and 'Sweet Child O' Mine' by Guns N' Roses all inch north several spots, settling in at Nos. 4, 5, and 6, respectively, after landing in the lowest spots within the uppermost region just a few days ago.
