Mangaluru Dragons overcome top of the table clash with 16-run win over Hubli Tigers
The Dragons struck early in the first innings when Lochan S Gowda (5) was run out by Taha in the first over. In the third, Sharath Belur Ravi fell for 2, to Achar. However, opener Macneil Hadley Noronha (56) steadied the innings with a fluent knock studded with four boundaries and two sixes, forging a 107-run stand in just 77 balls with Aneesh KV (62).
Trying to accelerate in the 15th over, Aneesh perished on the first ball of Nithin Shanthaveri's spell. Aadarsh Prajwal S (19) came in swinging, but Noronha's dismissal soon after, caught by M D Taha, stalled the Dragons' charge. Nithin then removed Aadarsh to leave them wobbling at 147/5 in the 17th over.
Shivaraj S (16) and Kranthi Kumar (30) wrestled back momentum by smashing Nithin for 21 runs in the next over. Manvanth Kumar L responded with a tight 7-run over, but the Dragons' lower order roared back, with Shivaraj and Kranthi adding 48 off just 17 balls to push the total to a commanding 195.
Hubli's chase began in dramatic fashion as in-form M D Taha (0), fresh off back-to-back centuries, fell for a duck in the first over, caught off Shreyas Gopal. Impact player Prakhar Chaturvedi provided the impetus, but departed for 37 in the sixth over with the Tigers at 72/2. KV Aneesh dropped Devdutt Paddikal at 44, a reprieve the Tigers hoped to capitalise on.
However, Karthikeya K P (4) was caught at the boundary soon after. Devdutt brought up a brisk half-century in just 30 balls, but was dismissed for 60, with Rakshith S (24) following quickly.
With four overs left, the Tigers needed 41 runs, but Kranthi Kumar, fresh from a five-wicket haul in the previous match, swung the game. He removed Manvanth (16) first, then delivered a decisive penultimate over, while Abhinav Manohar was caught by Noronha for 28, off Shreevatsha Acharya (Impact player). Kranthi Kumar returned to the fray soon after, dismissing Ritesh Bhatkal (3) and Nischith Pai (1) in quick succession. His spell left Hubli stranded at 179/9 after 20 overs.
Kranthi finished with a match-winning burst in the death overs, sealing the Dragons' triumph and capping off an all-round team performance.

No pressure as only Indian in US Open Junior Tennis Championships: Kriish Tyagi
Bengaluru (Karnataka), August 16 (ANI): Bengaluru's Kriish Tyagi, the only Indian who will be vying for honours at the upcoming US Open Junior Tennis Championships 2025 scheduled to begin from August 31 to September 6, is optimistic of a memorable outing, and his confidence stems from solid preparations and a grand debut at the recent Wimbledon Junior Championship last month.'Before Wimbledon, I was travelling a lot, playing tournaments and didn't have much time to train. But for the US Open, we skipped a few events to make time for physical, mental and skilful training. I feel more ready now," Tyagi told the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association. 'One key thing I want to bring to the US Open is strength, physical dominance and mental resilience during clutch points. That's where I believe I can grow," expressed the 18-year-old who left for the US from Bengaluru earlier this week. He will participate in the ITF J300 before taking part in the US Open Junior taken to tennis as a 10-year-old, Kriish has risen the ranks rapidly with dedication, improvisation and discipline. He is currently India's No.1 in the junior category. If there was something to spotlight upon this year, it was undoubtedly his Wimbledon debut.'Hitting with the players, being a part of that environment, made me feel like I belonged," he expressed. 'I was a little nervous during my singles match – the crowd and atmosphere, it's not something I was used to. But I took that reflection into my doubles and I felt much more confident."Though his singles' match didn't go as planned, he paired up with Connor Doig of South Africa and defeated the British pair Davies and Lawlor 3-6, 6-4, (10-6) in the Round of 32 to advance to the Round of 16. Cairns [Australia], August 16 (ANI): Australia's seasoned all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who delivered a Player of the Match performance in the third T20I against South Africa, levelled former opener David Warner's elusive feat and broke India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav's six-hitting record on Saturday. While Maxwell delivered a spectacle with his sheer power-hitting, his magic in the outfield went under the radar. With a stellar piece of fielding, Maxwell completed the priceless catch of Dewald Brevis and went level with his former teammate Warner's record. His eye-catching effort marked his 62nd outfield catch for Australia, the joint-highest for the nation alongside Warner. For his record-shattering catch, Maxwell had to work hard and put in the hard yards to end Brevis' fireworks. The young Proteas batter was tormenting the hosts in their backyard by unleashing a barrage of boundaries. After Brevis dazzled with a rollicking 22-ball fifty, Nathan Ellis took the mantle of bringing his exploits to an end. In the 12th over, Ellis caught him off-guard with a short-length delivery, bereft of pace. He tried to pull the ball away but found a sprinting Maxwell, who pouched the ball with both hands to send Brevis back on 53(26), making the entire process look easy. Maxwell's job wasn't done yet. He reduced the equation to run-a-ball before the 18th over, but was forced to watch a catastrophe in the penultimate over. While standing helpless at the non-striker's end, as Corbin Bosch executed a maiden double-wicket over, bringing down the equation to 10 required from six. Maxwell sprinted for a double and then punched the ball away for a four. Lungi Ngidi struck back with back-to-back dot balls, but Maxwell reverse scooped the ball to clear the short third fielder and seal a 2-1 series win for Australia. As the seasoned all-rounder returned unbeaten with 62 from 36, South Africa was overwhelmed by their seventh T20I series defeat in the last 10.
