EXCLUSIVE Married At First Sight's Ella Ding reveals her pregnancy cravings and says she's been getting advice from ChatGPT ahead of welcoming first child - as she launches new podcast
It's a big year for Married At First Sight favourite Ella Ding, who is not only expecting her first child with husband Guy Palermo but has also launched a brand new podcast.
The 31-year-old sat down with Daily Mail Australia for an interview on Tuesday, revealing how she's navigating pregnancy, business, and her bold return to podcasting following a rollercoaster year.
'Honestly, it's been pretty crazy,' Ella said of her whirlwind few months.
'Since we ended the podcast last year, I took a nice quiet turn. I kind of just focused on me and my business and my people and my family.'
That much-needed break allowed her to reassess her goals – and one dream never wavered: a return to the mic.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
'I knew that podcasting wasn't done for me. I loved podcasting and I always wanted a podcast. Since COVID, it's honestly been a dream of mine' she said.
After knocking back several offers, Ella finally found the right fit.
'I met with networks last year… but no one honestly was like hitting the spot. And then Channel Nine kind of just came out of nowhere. It felt perfectly aligned' she added.
The result? The Ella Era – a new solo podcast where she can speak her truth without filter.
'I'm just creating my own pathway to my own vision, my own future, and it's just me now,' she said. 'There's a huge part of me that's really excited by that' Ella said.
For the debut episode, Ella managed to coax her ultra-private husband Guy into the spotlight.
'He didn't love being a guest, but he did it because he loves me,' she laughed.
'He knew that I really wanted that… I really wanted people to hear more about him and just show everybody that he's real, like he's not just this make believe dude who hates life.'
'Like he said on the episode – I just don't shut up and I have so much to say. Whether it's wisdom or curiosity, he is just really supportive of anything that I do.'
Ella, who announced her pregnancy on May 20, revealed she and Guy have already picked out a baby name.
'We actually do have our name locked in,' she confirmed.
While she's had a fairly smooth pregnancy so far, she admits to one unexpected symptom.
'My stomach gets really f***ing itchy after I go for a run. I'm like scratching it so much' Ella said.
As for food cravings? 'I've been really wanting Dim Sims. We went to South Melbourne Markets and I got like a fried and a steamed dim sim with chili and soy. Even talking about it now I'm like, I need to go back and get more.
'I'm just leaning into this opportunity to eat whatever I want and just enjoy it.'
Ella credits her husband and her tight-knit group of girlfriends with helping her through the ups and downs of pregnancy.
'Guy is very much my person during the pregnancy. I feel most comfortable with him to whine and complain or show him all these things I'm Googling and asking, you know, ChatGPT.'
She added, 'All of my girlfriends that have had kids… they can reassure me or provide advice and be there for me if I need it.'
Despite her growing bump, Ella has no plans to slow down.
She's juggling her fragrance line, car giveaways and podcast duties – and she wouldn't have it any other way.
'I do love to be busy. I love to have a lot on my plate. I think I just love being stimulated and challenged every day' she said.
'My plate's pretty full right now and my cup is also very full right now.'
With years in the spotlight under her belt, Ella says she's learned how to shut out the noise and focus on what matters.
'You'll always get the trolling occasionally or the cyber bullying or whatever it is. But I don't jump in on hate trains and I don't get involved in online drama… I tend to just stay out of it and I think it works pretty well for me' Ella explained.
When it comes to clickbait and gossip culture, Ella doesn't hold back.
'I don't know why they do it… they'd rather have their platform top of the charts even if it means ruining someone's reputation or life or relationship or family' she said.
'I could never go to sleep at night knowing I've published something that is ruining someone's life.'
Ella isn't ruling out another stint on screen – but it'd have to be the right fit.
'Look, that chapter's never closed. I've always loved being a part of reality TV. I've always had somewhat of a positive experience' she added.
While The Block and Real Housewives don't interest her, she admitted: 'Maybe that's the post-baby goal – to do something really challenging, like Survivor or SAS Australia.'
'This next era is purely just about Ella,' she said. 'The podcast, being pregnant, keeping the baby healthy, keeping me healthy, and just working on everything I'm incredibly passionate about.'
Ella, who narrates Stan's Original series, Love Triangle, said she would definitely be back for another season .
'I actually love Love Triangle. It's a bit more fluent. I get the goss, I get the tea. I love being in the middle.'
And as for future ambitions? Hosting is firmly on her radar.
'Yeah, definitely. I love it. I love being a part of it in that kind of way' she confided.
As she prepares for motherhood, Ella admitted that self-doubt occasionally creeps in.
'I think I would be silly to not say I'm scared of not being a good mum. That's probably the scariest thought I have right now' she said.
Still, she knows she's got strong role models to guide her.
'I do think my mum did a very good job. A hundred percent' Ella added.
And if she could interview anyone on her podcast? 'Paris Hilton. I'd love to chat to Paris.'

Aussie Olympic star James Magnussen reveals the surprising truth behind shocking photo taken after he bulked up by doing performance-enhancing drugs
Aussie swimmer James Magnussen has learned that performance-enhancing drugs are not the magic ticket to riches this year and has opened up on how his recent doping body transformation actually made him slower. Magnussen won silver in the 100-metre freestyle at the 2012 London Olympics and gold at the 2011 and 2013 World Championships before retiring from the 'clean' versions of the sport in 2019. His personal best of 47.10 seconds made him the fastest swimmer ever in a textile suit at the time. Now the former world champion has announced his plan to compete in the Enhanced Games, a controversial event that encourages performance-enhancing drugs, which are banned in traditional sport. Magnussen said he would use banned substances to attempt a 50-metre freestyle world record and was poised to achieve that result earlier this year - only to be upstaged by Greece 's Kristian Gkolomeev. The Aussie was lining up at an Enhanced Games meet in the United States to promote the upcoming event where $1million was on the line for anybody who could break the 50m world record. Gkolomeev clocked 20.89 seconds, boosted by banned substances and a non-Olympic-approved polyurethane suit - 0.02 seconds quicker than the supersuit world record set by Brazil's Cesar Cielo at the 2009 world championships. And The Missile, speaking on the Hello Sport podcast, was not happy about losing out on the $1million USD challenge he had been aiming for himself. 'Kristian cruises in after eight weeks of protocol. He gets up and bam, breaks the world record in the week that supposed to be about me breaking this world record,' Magnussen said. 'It was a really weird feeling, it was really mixed emotions. 'I love Kristian, he's a great guy. He's had a really tough life, lost both parents. That million dollars for him was him was completely life changing. It was more money that he'd ever made in his entire swimming career. 'So I was happy for him but that was meant to be me doing that. That was a hard moment.' The Aussie will have another chance to claim the title and the cash when he competes the first official Enhanced Games next year. But he admits there will be plenty of tweaking to both his training and doping regime before then. But the Aussie said that quickly went backwards as he became too top-heavy and recorded worse times in the pool than when he was not doping Images have emerged of Magnussen looking more like He-Man than the lean body that earned him the nickname The Missile before he retired from the sport six years ago. And he admits there had been issues with taking the performance-enhancing drugs to bulk up for the pool. 'I gained 10 pounds, or five kilos, in the first week, of lean muscle,' the Missile revealed. 'There was points during that process where my athleticism was through the roof. 'For the first seven weeks I was in the [United] States, I trained twice a day, every day. So 49 days straight, 98 sessions straight with no rest. 'The most relevant for swimming at certain periods were box squats. So you squat down to like a bench, sit on the bench and then stand up with the barbell. 'I was doing that with 500 pounds, which is about 230 kilos, just sets of three, bouncing like it was nothing. 'And so what we saw was performance tracked like this, really steeply. It plateued around that Christmas time, and then it started to decrease.' Magnussen admits he had bulked up too much when the photos were taken and will need to find balance to achieve his best result in the pool. 'I started getting too big, my nervous system's fried, I'm having trouble with that top end speed stuff, from that explosivity, and my metrics start trending down.

RecipeTin Eats founder Nagi Maehashi in tears over a stranger's handwritten note: 'Something weird happened'
Australia's beloved food blogger Nagi Maehashi was left stunned by a stranger's random act of kindness at a restaurant - a surprise gesture that brought her to tears. The RecipeTin Eats founder was dining at the acclaimed seafood restaurant Saint Peter in Sydney with a friend when a nearby patron quietly footed the bill for their meals on Thursday night. Maehashi only discovered her bill had been taken care of when she went to pay, and was surprised when staff gave her a handwritten note from the kind stranger. 'So something really weird, incredible and amazing just happened. Someone actually picked up the bill for us,' she said in a video posted on her Instagram. 'Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I don't even know who it was because it's anonymous. Kind donors paid for our dinner. 'Whoever my dinner fairy was... thank you.' The note read: 'Nagi, we acknowledge you're not taking donations for RecipeTin Meals. Keep up the great work.' The act of kindness has struck a chord with fans of Maehashi, many of whom have followed her recipes for years - and more recently, admired her for her commitment to charity. Through her not-for-profit food bank RecipeTin Meals, Maehashi funds and prepares over 500 meals every day for vulnerable individuals and families across Sydney. She does not accept public donations and instead funds the initiative herself, using profits from her popular website and best-selling cookbooks. 'I have tears in my eyes because Nagi is generous with her time and money with her food bank and yet when someone can do a small gesture like this for her to acknowledge all she does it brings tears to her eyes,' one fan said. 'Why am I crying?! How beautiful,' another shared. 'Absolutely love this random act of kindness for you Nagi. So many people see the incredible work you do. You're a national treasure,' one shared. 'So many people see the incredible work you do, Nagi. You're a national treasure,' another added. Even culinary royalty had their say, with Nigella Lawson calling the stranger's gesture as 'so lovely, and so deserved.' The heartwarming moment comes just weeks after Maehashi made global headlines by accusing TikTok star and fellow cookbook author Brooke Bellamy of plagiarism. In a post shared on her website and social media, Maehashi claimed Bellamy's debut cookbook Bake With Brooki featured two recipes that closely resembled her own: caramel slice and baklava. The heartwarming moment comes just weeks after Maehashi made global headlines by accusing TikTok star and fellow cookbook author Brooke Bellamy (right) of plagiarism Maehashi alleged Penguin Australia, the publisher of Bellamy's cookbook, had 'exploited' her work without permission. 'To me, the similarities are so specific and detailed that calling these a coincidence feels disingenuous,' Maehashi claimed. 'There are also recipes from other authors… where the similarities are so extensive, dismissing it as coincidence would be absurd (in my opinion).' Maehashi said she felt compelled to speak out against the publishing giant. 'Staying silent protects this kind of behaviour,' she said. Bellamy has since responded on Instagram to vehemently deny the accusations. Despite the stress of the ongoing controversy, the unexpected kindness from a pair of anonymous diners served as a moment of gratitude - and a reminder of how much Maehashi's work means to everyday Australians. 'That's so classy and thoughtful,' one fan wrote. 'You deserve all the kindness that comes your way,' another shared. 'Good things always come around to good people,' one added.
