Married At First Sight star Ella Ding shares pregnancy update...after backlash over sponsored announcement post: 'Every day I'm in awe'
Married At First Sight fan favourite Ella Ding has given a pregnancy update as she prepares become a mum for the first time. Ella, 31, announced that she was expecting her first child with husband Guy Palermo last month. Taking to Instagram on Friday, Ella admitted that she was 'finally' getting excited about the impending arrival, answering a fan AMA. The fan asked: 'Are you going private for birth? What's your experience so far?' Ella revealed that she plans to give birth in a private hospital, admitting it made her feel less 'nervous.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Pregnancy and giving birth were never things I used to imagine or fantasise about until I met my husband,' she wrote. 'Only recently have I started feeling truly excited rather than nervous. Most of my close girlfriends have had children, some even two, and I've found that going private helps calm my nerves.' She added that her doctors have made her transition to first-time mum as smooth as possible. 'So far, my experience has been very smooth,' she said. 'My OB has made me feel relaxed, supported and guided, while still trusting my gut along the way.' She added: 'He's very black and white, no sugar coating, and a little old school, which I really appreciate.' Rounding out her expansive answer, Ella added that she was 'loving every moment' of her pregnancy journey. 'Grateful doesn't even begin to cover it,' she said. Every single day I'm in awe.' Ella revealed that she was expecting back in May In a series of photos, Ella posed alongside her husband Guy Palermo, who she married last year, while displaying her small baby bump and a positive Clearblue pregnancy test. Another snap showed several Polaroids of her showing off her bump, plus a selfie with Guy and a sonogram image of their baby on the way. 'Somewhere between healing and hustling, the next chapter quietly chose us,' she captioned her post. 'Baby Palermo you've already made our story sweeter & given us the best news of 2025 yet #ad #ClearblueConfirmed.' Following the announcement, Ella's former 'bestie' and MAFS star Domenica Calarco called her out for revealing her pregnancy with a sponsored post. Ella's announcement was reposed by the @ Instagram page. Domenica took to the comments section to slam Ella for 'monetising her pregnancy'. 'Even has to monetise her pregnancy announcement. Some people will never change. Wow,' she wrote. Many of Ella's fans too umbrage with the sponsored post, too, causing the reality star to respond to the backlash. 'If it makes sense to me and my people understand, that's all that matters. And if you got offered, you would take it!' she told Yahoo Lifestyle. Ella also noted that the cost of living crisis was a reasonable excuse for saying yes to the brand partnership, adding that having a baby is 'f***ing expensive'. Ella and Guy shocked fans when they said 'I do' in a surprise wedding ceremony back in April 2024. She took to Instagram to confirm they had exchanged vows, just weeks after announcing their engagement. She announced that she and Guy wed in a secret ceremony ahead of their reception at The Prahran Arcade's Sophia venue in Melbourne. Ella, who also recently launched her new podcast The Ella Era, opened up about her pregnancy cravings in an exclusive chat with Daily Mail Australia. 'I've been really wanting Dim Sims,' she said. 'We went to South Melbourne Markets and I got like a fried and a steamed dim sim with chili and soy. Even talking about it now I'm like, I need to go back and get more.

Ella May Ding responds to pregnancy announcement backlash
A former reality television star has responded to backlash after she turned her pregnancy announcement into a sponsored post. Ella May Ding, who appeared on season 9 of the hit dating show 'Married At First Sight' in 2022, took to Instagram last week to reveal she was expecting her first child with husband Guy Palermo. The images featured the couple wearing all white, and cradling the 30-year-old's tummy with a Clearblue pregnancy test on display — and a note confirming it was an ad. But what should have been a heartfelt moment between the reality star and her fans turned into a debate as some argued it felt 'off' to cash in on a pregnancy announcement. But, more than a week after the announcement, Ms Ding has responded to the backlash. 'It was a no-brainer. When the opportunity came to me, I was like, 'Well, Clearblue literally told me I'm pregnant'. Like, I don't really know how much more you can align with a brand,' she told Yahoo Lifestyle. 'The response I was like, 'That's a bit weird', but at the same time, it made sense to me, and that's like anything that I do, promote or talk about. If it makes sense to me and my people understand, that's all that matters. And if you got offered, you would take it!' She added that having a baby was an expensive feat, particularly with the cost-of-living crisis. Ms Ding posted the announcement last week, with the caption: 'Somewhere between healing and hustling, the next chapter quietly chose us. Baby Palermo you've already made our story sweeter & given us the best news of 2025 yet.' It was signed off with: '#ad #ClearblueConfirmed. Always read the label and follow the directions for use.' One social media user said: 'Nooo this feels off being an ad. Is this the official announcement? Congratulations either way.' And another criticised: 'Wow making money of (sic) the baby already? How desperate are you for cash? I hope you wont be exploiting this baby for content when its born. It's a child not content.' 'I thought this was so odd,' another said. One commented: 'Beautiful news. Just weird how it's a clearblue ad lol.' 'Making money off an unborn baby feels weird to me idk,' one social media user commented. Another said: 'This chick will do anything for money lol.' Ms Ding is certainly not the first influencer or celebrity to do this. Summer House star Lindsay Hubbard announced her pregnancy in a very similar way with the same brand. Fellow US stars such as Daniella Monet and Tamera Mowry have done the same.

EXCLUSIVE Married At First Sight's Ella Ding reveals her pregnancy cravings and says she's been getting advice from ChatGPT ahead of welcoming first child - as she launches new podcast
It's a big year for Married At First Sight favourite Ella Ding, who is not only expecting her first child with husband Guy Palermo but has also launched a brand new podcast. The 31-year-old sat down with Daily Mail Australia for an interview on Tuesday, revealing how she's navigating pregnancy, business, and her bold return to podcasting following a rollercoaster year. 'Honestly, it's been pretty crazy,' Ella said of her whirlwind few months. 'Since we ended the podcast last year, I took a nice quiet turn. I kind of just focused on me and my business and my people and my family.' That much-needed break allowed her to reassess her goals – and one dream never wavered: a return to the mic. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'I knew that podcasting wasn't done for me. I loved podcasting and I always wanted a podcast. Since COVID, it's honestly been a dream of mine' she said. After knocking back several offers, Ella finally found the right fit. 'I met with networks last year… but no one honestly was like hitting the spot. And then Channel Nine kind of just came out of nowhere. It felt perfectly aligned' she added. The result? The Ella Era – a new solo podcast where she can speak her truth without filter. 'I'm just creating my own pathway to my own vision, my own future, and it's just me now,' she said. 'There's a huge part of me that's really excited by that' Ella said. For the debut episode, Ella managed to coax her ultra-private husband Guy into the spotlight. 'He didn't love being a guest, but he did it because he loves me,' she laughed. 'He knew that I really wanted that… I really wanted people to hear more about him and just show everybody that he's real, like he's not just this make believe dude who hates life.' 'Like he said on the episode – I just don't shut up and I have so much to say. Whether it's wisdom or curiosity, he is just really supportive of anything that I do.' Ella, who announced her pregnancy on May 20, revealed she and Guy have already picked out a baby name. 'We actually do have our name locked in,' she confirmed. While she's had a fairly smooth pregnancy so far, she admits to one unexpected symptom. 'My stomach gets really f***ing itchy after I go for a run. I'm like scratching it so much' Ella said. As for food cravings? 'I've been really wanting Dim Sims. We went to South Melbourne Markets and I got like a fried and a steamed dim sim with chili and soy. Even talking about it now I'm like, I need to go back and get more. 'I'm just leaning into this opportunity to eat whatever I want and just enjoy it.' Ella credits her husband and her tight-knit group of girlfriends with helping her through the ups and downs of pregnancy. 'Guy is very much my person during the pregnancy. I feel most comfortable with him to whine and complain or show him all these things I'm Googling and asking, you know, ChatGPT.' She added, 'All of my girlfriends that have had kids… they can reassure me or provide advice and be there for me if I need it.' Despite her growing bump, Ella has no plans to slow down. She's juggling her fragrance line, car giveaways and podcast duties – and she wouldn't have it any other way. 'I do love to be busy. I love to have a lot on my plate. I think I just love being stimulated and challenged every day' she said. 'My plate's pretty full right now and my cup is also very full right now.' With years in the spotlight under her belt, Ella says she's learned how to shut out the noise and focus on what matters. 'You'll always get the trolling occasionally or the cyber bullying or whatever it is. But I don't jump in on hate trains and I don't get involved in online drama… I tend to just stay out of it and I think it works pretty well for me' Ella explained. When it comes to clickbait and gossip culture, Ella doesn't hold back. 'I don't know why they do it… they'd rather have their platform top of the charts even if it means ruining someone's reputation or life or relationship or family' she said. 'I could never go to sleep at night knowing I've published something that is ruining someone's life.' Ella isn't ruling out another stint on screen – but it'd have to be the right fit. 'Look, that chapter's never closed. I've always loved being a part of reality TV. I've always had somewhat of a positive experience' she added. While The Block and Real Housewives don't interest her, she admitted: 'Maybe that's the post-baby goal – to do something really challenging, like Survivor or SAS Australia.' 'This next era is purely just about Ella,' she said. 'The podcast, being pregnant, keeping the baby healthy, keeping me healthy, and just working on everything I'm incredibly passionate about.' Ella, who narrates Stan's Original series, Love Triangle, said she would definitely be back for another season . 'I actually love Love Triangle. It's a bit more fluent. I get the goss, I get the tea. I love being in the middle.' And as for future ambitions? Hosting is firmly on her radar. 'Yeah, definitely. I love it. I love being a part of it in that kind of way' she confided. As she prepares for motherhood, Ella admitted that self-doubt occasionally creeps in. 'I think I would be silly to not say I'm scared of not being a good mum. That's probably the scariest thought I have right now' she said. Still, she knows she's got strong role models to guide her. 'I do think my mum did a very good job. A hundred percent' Ella added. And if she could interview anyone on her podcast? 'Paris Hilton. I'd love to chat to Paris.'

Married At First Sight's Ella Ding breaks silence after backlash over her sponsored pregnancy post
Married At First Sight's Ella Ding has broken her silence after she was slammed online over her sponsored pregnancy announcement. The reality TV star, who is expecting her first child with husband Guy Palermo, shared her exciting baby news in a post that advertised her partnership with Clearblue, a pregnancy test company. The post, while receiving many congratulations from friends and family, faced major criticism, with some followers calling it 'tacky' and 'cringe' to announce her pregnancy with a sponsored post. Now, the 31-year-old has opened up about the business opportunity, telling Yahoo Lifestyle that it was a 'no-brainer'. 'Clearblue literally told me I'm pregnant. Like, I don't really know how much more you can align with a brand,' she said. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The MAFS alum revealed that she initially felt weird when the opportunity came across her desk, however the more she thought about it, the more the partnership made sense to her. 'If it makes sense to me and my people understand, that's all that matters. And if you got offered, you would take it!' she said. Ella also noted that the cost of living crisis was a reasonable excuse for saying yes to the brand partnership, adding that having a baby is 'f***ing expensive'. The soon-to-be-mum said that she and Guy would set up a bank account for their baby, hinting that the money from her pregnancy partnership and any other baby-related opportunities would go towards her unborn child. 'It's something that I wish my parents did for me from when I was a young age, and something that I really want to do for our baby to start helping them save from a really young age,' she said. Last week, fans weighed in on Ella's controversial 'pregnancy announcement ad', which featured a series of photos including a positive Clearblue pregnancy test. 'Somewhere between healing and hustling, the next chapter quietly chose us,' Ella captioned her post. 'Baby Palermo you've already made our story sweeter & given us the best news of 2025 yet.' Ella also included the information '#ad #ClearblueConfirmed,' and consumer advice, 'Always read the label and follow the directions for use.' The announcement was re-posted by the @ Instagram page. The post was met with mixed feelings from followers of the controversial bride who has built a high profile on social media since appearing in MAFS 2022. 'Nooo this feels off being an ad. Is this the official announcement? Congratulations either way,' wrote one follower. 'Congrats! However does anyone else feel we are living in a capitalist nightmare with a pregnancy announcement being an ad?' suggested another fan. One angry follower responded: 'Stop normalising this behaviour, not EVERYONE does this. 'It screams "attention" and is absolutely disgusting to use your child as a walking advertisement before they are even born. Show some class.' 'Talk about exploiting a child … starts from the moment of conception ,' agreed another user. Added one follower: 'A paid ad to announce your first pregnancy? The last thing that should be on the mind is how can I make money out of announcing I'm pregnant. 'Each to their own but feels a bit off.' Several celebrities, meanwhile, offered their congratulations, including MAFS coach Mel Schilling, Tammy Hembrow and social media star Sarah Jane Roza. It comes after Domenica Calarco called out former best friend Ella for announcing her pregnancy with a sponsored post. Domenica took to the comments section to slam Ella for 'monetising on her pregnancy'.

Fans turn on Married at First Sight star after sponsored pregnancy announcement: 'Disgusting to use your child as a walking advertisement'
Fans have weighed in on Ella Ding 's controversial 'pregnancy announcement ad'. The Married at First Sight bride was joined by her husband Guy Palermo on Tuesday as they shared news that they were expecting. Ella and her hubby can be seen in a series of photos including a positive Clearblue pregnancy test. 'Somewhere between healing and hustling, the next chapter quietly chose us,' Ella captioned her post. 'Baby Palermo you've already made our story sweeter & given us the best news of 2025 yet.' Several celebrities, meanwhile, offered their congratulations, including MAFS coach Mel Schilling, Tammy Hembrow and social media star Sarah Jane Roza. It comes after Domenica Calarco has called out former best friend Ella for announcing her pregnancy with a sponsored post. Ella took to Instagram on Tuesday morning to announce the exciting news alongside a series of photos including a positive Clearblue pregnancy test. Domenica took to the comments section to slam Ella for 'monetising on her pregnancy'. 'Even has to monetise her pregnancy announcement. Some people will never change. Wow,' she wrote. Ella's pregnancy announcement comes two months after her ex-best friend, podcast co-host and MAFS co-star Domenica announced she was expecting her first child. In March, Domenica posted a series of clips showing her positive pregnancy test, her ultrasound and telling her friends and family. The 32-year-old captioned the sweet post: 'Been a little MIA working on my greatest project She added: 'Due September 2025 #pregnancyannouncement #pregnancy #pregnant.' Days after her announcement, Domenica exclusively confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that she will be raising her child as a single mum, as she addressed the break up rumours with Bondi skater Jarod Bogunovich. Domenica and Ella pulled the plug on their podcast Sit With Us in August 2024, and rumours have swirled that it was due to an interpersonal conflict. The controversy erupted after Domenica and Ella faced criticism for their interview with Jack, who previously sparked outrage by telling co-star Jonathan McCullough to 'muzzle' his wife Lauren Dunn during a dinner party. The interview prompted a heated response from fellow media personality Abbie Chatfield, further intensifying the scrutiny on the podcast hosts at the time. Domenica and Ella have since unfollowed each other on Instagram, marking the end of their nearly four-year friendship. The pair confirmed that they are no longer on speaking terms, further fuelling rumours of a rift that have been circulating for months. The former MAFS stars both addressed the situation, confirming that their once-strong bond had come to a close. Speaking to Daily Mail Australia in September 2024, Ella stated, 'I've got nothing to say but I wish her the best of course, always will. All good things come to an end.' Meanwhile, Domenica echoed her sentiments, saying, 'We definitely unfollowed each other. I don't even know where to begin.'
