Scotland star set to link up with World Cup and Champions League winner as new team-mate

LAST season he linked up with an old friend and Scotland team-mate for a short period at his club over in the MLS.
Ryan Gauld welcomed his close pal Stuart Armstrong to Vancouver Whitecaps when his fellow Scot and ex-Dundee United colleague jetted over to Canada on a free transfer.

But in the coming days an even bigger name is expected to link up with the Scotland international across the pond.
According to reports in North America, Gauld is going to be joined by one of the biggest names in world football in Vancouver.
Soon he'll be able to say he shares the pitch with a World Cup AND Champions League winner.
And it's a surprise move for the veteran 35-year-old as he's only ever played for one club throughout his entire career.
That's where he lifted as many as THIRTEEN league titles and TWO Champions Leagues and Club World Cups.
He even became a world champion with his country 11 years ago back in 2014.

Gauld is set to link up with Bayern Munich and Germany legend Thomas Muller.
The legendary playmaker has won every trophy available to him in his homeland and is Bayern Munich's all-time record appearance holder with 756 games under his belt.
But his incredible journey in Munich came to an end this summer as he's said goodbye to his boyhood club after 25 years.

His contract expired at the end of last season and he wasn't offered a new deal to extend his stay.
He's not ready to hang up his boots just yet, though, as he's keen to continue with a fresh start in the MLS.
And according to MLS insiders Ben Jacobs and Tom Bogert, Vancouver are now "finalising" a deal to bring the icon to Canada.
The club have reportedly agreed in principal to acquire the "discovery rights" for Muller from FC Cincinnati as they had first refusal on the player.
Cincinnati made an offer to sign him earlier this summer but could only offer him a deal worth around £1.5million per year as they had already filled their designated player spots.
Muller didn't entertain that offer and Vancouver have since stepped in to win the race.
Cincinnati will be owed around £300,000 from Vancouver should the deal go through.

Son Heung-min breaks down in tears as he bids Tottenham goodbye in MLS record transfer
TEARFUL Son Heung-min claimed his Spurs exit came at the perfect time after completing his MLS-record transfer to LAFC. The Tottenham skipper, 33, last night joined the Los Angeles outfit in a deal worth more than £20million. 2 2 It closed the door on a decade of service in North London for the South Korean icon, which was capped by his lifting of the Europa League trophy in May. Addressing Spurs fans in a weepy address on the club's website, Son said: 'It was probably one of the hardest decisions I ever made so please don't be disappointed, I will be disappointed not seeing you on the pitch. 'I will always be in your history books and Spurs will always be in my heart, my family and as a kid you welcomed me and as a grown-up I'm leaving you, but there's always good timing. The livid Czech coach stormed onto the pitch to give match referee Serdar Gozubuyuk a mouthful, to which the Turkish whistler quickly responded by giving Weiss a second yellow card. The veteran boss reacted by marching towards the fourth official on the touchline to let rip with another tirade before he was ushered away by a member of his coaching team. UEFA regulations dictate that Weiss will now serve a one-game touchline ban in the return fixture in Bratislava next Tuesday, with his side needing to score at least once without reply to force extra-time. The Hoops will play host at Parkhead in the first leg on August 19/20 with the the return fixture away from home then comes six days later. The side that loses over two legs will drop into the revamped group section of the Europa League, giving them a guarantee of continental football until next January at the earliest.
