Cutch goes beast mode during furry convention

Axiosa day ago
Pirates great Andrew McCutchen loves posting about furries, and appears to get some good karma when he does.
The intrigue: Since 2014, McCutchen has periodically posted the word "furries" on his social media when Anthrocon, a furry convention, is in town.
McCutchen then typically turns into a beast at the plate.
By the numbers: Through 2023, Cutch played 19 home games when Anthrocon was in Pittsburgh.
He blasted four home runs with a .392 batting average in that span.
Yes, but: McCutchen went 1-11 with three walks and six strikeouts during Anthrocon-adjacent home games last year.

Pitsburgh Pirates insider reveals 6 teams on Bryan Reynolds' no-trade list

The Pittsburgh Pirates are poised to be sellers at the MLB trade deadline with the likes of Ke'Bryan Hayes and Bryan Reynolds drawing significant interest. While Reynolds might be moved, the All-Star outfielder has a no-trade clause that allows him to block a deal to six teams. Pirates' reporter Noah Hiles of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Reynolds has a six-team no-trade clause. Those six teams are the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, Toronto Blue Jays, and the New York Mets. All six teams are poised to be buyers at the MLB trade deadline, with the Mets, Dodgers, and Padres all in the market for outfield help this summer. To make matters worse, Reynolds is in the midst of one of the worst seasons of his career. He's on pace to finish under 20 home runs for the first time in a full season since 2019, and he has a sub-.700 OPS for only the second time in his major league career. Bryan Reynolds stats (ESPN): .235/.301/.389, .690 OPS, 10 home runs, 30 RBI, 16 doubles in 324 at-bats If Reynolds isn't willing to amend his no-trade list, it would leave clubs like the Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners, and the Philadelphia Phillies as the lone potential landing spots. Advertisement Considering Reynolds' production dip this season, it could compel the Pirates to hold off on trading him until the offseason. Otherwise, Pittsburgh will have to hope the All-Star outfielder is willing to change his mind. Related Headlines

Dodgers Can't Trade for Pirates' Bryan Reynolds Due to No-Trade Clause

Dodgers Can't Trade for Pirates' Bryan Reynolds Due to No-Trade Clause originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While the Los Angeles Dodgers have one of the best rosters in baseball, there are still areas to improve. One of those areas is in the outfield, specifically, replacing Michael Conforto. Advertisement However, according to Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, one of their top trade targets might not be available. And not in the way that they'd normally be. Hiles reports that outfielder Bryan Reynolds, one of the Pittsburgh Pirates' trade candidates, might not be on the move. He has a six-team no-trade clause, which, unfortunately, impacts the Dodgers. "Reynolds, who is under team control through the 2031 season," Hiles writes, "Features a six-team no-trade clause in his contract, meaning he has made it clear he would not approve a deal to certain locations." As one could guess, the Dodgers are among the six teams Reynolds would refuse a trade to. The New York Yankees, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants, and the San Diego Padres are also on his no-trade clause list. Advertisement Los Angeles Dodgers left fielder Michael Conforto (23) celebrates after hitting a two-run home run during the third inning against the Chicago White Sox at Dodger Lee-Imagn Images Fortunately for the Dodgers, despite missing out on Reynolds, their top competition in the NL West also won't get the chance to land him either. The two-time All-Star has had some strong years in his career. At 30 years old this season, it's been a bit of a struggle. He has a .235 batting average, a .301 on-base percentage, a .389 slugging percentage, and a .690 OPS. While he hasn't been at his best this season, he's previously been a solid hitter. He hit at least 24 home runs in every season since 2021, and other than the 2020 season, Reynolds had at least a .790 OPS. But 2025 hasn't been great, and he's struggled all year. Even with those struggles, teams would likely be interested in the former All-Star. The potential he's shown in the Majors is real, and if a team could 'buy-low' on him amid his rough start, they could be landing a nice reclamation project. Advertisement The Dodgers, however, aren't going to be that team. Los Angeles will have to look elsewhere for a Conforto replacement, as Reynolds has no interest in joining the Dodgers.
