Apple AirPods' 'standout' hearing aid feature leaves users 'shocked' amid £40 price cut
While there are many different wireless earbuds and headphones on the market, Apple is known to lead the way when it comes to sound quality and noise cancelling technology. However, with so many budget-friendly models out there, it can sometimes be difficult to justify spending a hefty amount of money on the latest Apple AirPods.
Thankfully, Amazon has tried to make this pressure a bit easier as they have knocked £40 off the Apple AirPods Pro 2 in a limited time deal. Normally retailing for £229, Amazon shoppers can now snap up the popular earbuds for £189.
Bought by over 4,000 people in the last 30 days, these AirPods are becoming increasingly popular as they now boast an impressive hearing aid feature. These compact devices now hold the world's first all-in-one hearing health experience. This is made up of a scientifically validated hearing test and clinical-grade, active hearing protection.
While many reviewers who require hearing aids were shocked by how well the AirPods Pro 2 worked for them, other shoppers were impressed by the active noise cancellation that is said to remove twice the amount of noise compared to older models.
Another plus for the Pro 2s is the H2 chip that helps the earbuds create a deeply immersive sound with rich bass and clear high notes. Additionally, the earbuds come with voice isolation so users can also have quality phone calls even when in busy environments.
Along with the MagSafe Charging Case, Apple users will get up to 30 hours of listening time with the noise cancellation enabled, allowing them to go about their day without fear of the AirPods dying in the middle of an activity. The device also comes with four pairs of sized silicone tips so users can make sure the earbuds fit securely.

Alternatively, Amazon has also cut the price of their own Echo Buds down from £129.99 to only £54.99. Saving shoppers £75, these earbuds are said to offer premium sound and are equipped with a noise cancelling feature. However, users will only get 15 hours of playback with the charging case.
For those looking for something budget friendly and with a long battery life, Argos is selling the JLab GO Air Wireless Earbuds for £24.99. With a 4.5 star rating from over 3,000 reviewers, these earbuds have a playback time of up to 32 hours with the charging case and can still work within a 10m range.
In terms of the Apple AirPods Pro 2, they have received over 15,000 global reviews which has resulted in a 4.6-star rating. Many shoppers have praised the earbuds for their quality sound, with some reporting positive experiences with the hearing aid function.
One five-star reviewer said: "I absolutely love my Apple AirPods Pro 2! These are by far the best wireless earbuds I've ever used. The sound quality is incredible crisp highs, deep lows, and overall a rich, high-fidelity experience. Whether I'm listening to music, podcasts, or watching videos, the audio is always clear and immersive.
"The Hearing Aid feature is another standout. It works incredibly well for adjusting sound based on the environment, which adds a whole new layer of convenience for daily use."
Another also praised: "These AirPods are amazing. I wear hearing aids and thought I would give these a try to replace my aids. I am truly shocked they are amazing. I did the hearing test and then put them in my ears. The result was so good.
"However I thought this is easy wearing them indoors, what about out and about. So I went and did a grocery shop. I completely forgot that I wasn't wearing my normal aids. I could hear everything and had no problem talking to people."
However, another reviewer was not impressed by the audio, writing: "Sound quality not as mind-blowing as people say. If you're an audiophile, go elsewhere. Most of your money here goes on gimmickry such as head gestures and auto-transparency, neither of which are useful in the real world. Bass and richness is lacking."
Despite this, another hearing aid user wrote: "Brilliant. I thought the original AirPod Pros were good but these provide much better noise cancellation. The hearing aid functionality works well too.
"I have some hearing loss and while I wouldn't want these as a replacement for proper hearing aids, they work well as a temporary substitute and are ideal for (e.g) watching television with a partner who doesn't want the sound turned up loud."

Flash sale axes 'small and powerful' fan that's 'better than Dyson' to under £23
If you're on the lookout for a new fan that's praised for its power and low noise output, look no further than this 'better than Dyson' model that's now on sale Whilst summer might be drawing to a close, scorching temperatures are still gripping Britain with some areas seeing the mercury soar above 30C this past week - and there's more sweltering heat on the way. Perfect timing then for Amazon to slash the price of a top-rated cooling device by 29%. The Honeywell Turboforce Power Fan, normally priced at £32.49, has been reduced to £22.99. The gadget, which boasts a stellar 4.5-star rating, has been hailed as "superior" to Dyson and "powerful" despite its compact design, reports the Express. Manchester Evening News journalist Bethan Shufflebotham put the fan through its paces. She revealed: "Despite its compact size of no more than 30cm in height or width, this Honeywell fan packs a punch. I've never felt the need to try a Dyson fan, as this device does an excellent job of keeping me cool during the summer months while working from home. It even outperforms the £20 tower fan I bought from Aldi in 2022." "The fan arrives fully assembled, making setup a breeze," Bethan noted. It features a three-metre cable and can tilt by 90 degrees. "Its sleek and minimalist design is far from an eyesore, and its lightweight nature allows for easy room-to-room movement," Bethan enthused. "Given its price, I'd recommend getting two - one for upstairs and one for downstairs." This fan boasts three speed settings and can be wall-mounted or used as a desk fan. Despite its power, Bethan was particularly impressed with its quiet operation. She noted: "The slowest speed is almost silent, making it perfect for work calls during the day, watching films or catching up on Love Island, and it doesn't disturb my sleep when used overnight. "The medium speed setting produces a gentle hum, delivering more of a breeze, but still, there's no need to reach for the volume button on the telly remote. The highest setting is noisier than the others, but no noisier than other fans we've tested over the years, and it's more than worth it for the performance." The fan has earned a top-notch customer satisfaction rating of five stars out of five on Amazon. One satisfied shopper said: "Extremely quiet, even on full power. Very strong breeze, a lot better than my Dyson hot and cold fan. Cannot fault this." Another added: " This fan is an absolute powerhouse. I have no clue as to how it can be so powerful for its size, but fair play to Honeywell. It's easily at least 10 times more powerful than the Dyson fan (a really bad purchase) we also have." However, one user was not impressed with the design of the settings switch, stating: "It's a decent enough fan in terms of airflow. The main problem is that the switch is in an awkward spot to turn on and off." The cooling device is available for next-day delivery, and Prime members won't face any delivery charges. But if you want to grab this fan at it's newly reduced rate, you'll want to act fast as there's now telling how long this sale will last. Meanwhile, if you'd rather shop the real deal, you can find the Dyson Cool CF1 desk fan for £249.99 at Dyson's own store, or check out this Igenix 12" Desk Fan which is selling for £25 at Dunelm.

Apple is offering free AirPods for students with this limited time deal
If you're one of the thousands of young people to have received a place at university last week, you're likely embarking on the last-minute scramble to sort your accommodation, travel and equipment for the year ahead. Perhaps you're a returning student, and you've been working a summer job to upgrade a lousy laptop that decided to crash five minutes before your assignment is due. No matter what your reason is for wanting to upgrade your back-to-school tech, I've spied an incredible laptop deal. University students, parents and anyone working in education can get a free pair of AirPods 4 with the purchase of an iPad, MacBook or iMac. Of course, a brand new iPad, MacBook or Mac is a significant purchase, and as The Independent 's consumer writer, my main priority is to save you money. If you weren't planning on buying a brand new Mac, iPad, MacBook or iMac, it's not a financially responsible choice to drop hundreds of pounds just because Apple are throwing a pair of AirPods. Even with this deal, you'll be spending far more than you would if you bought a non-Apple tablet or laptop, and opted for a less expensive pair of our best wireless earbuds. If you're an Apple fan, you could also save hundreds by getting refurbished models from a reputable site like BackMarket. However, if you're set on a new iPad, Mac or MacBook, now's a good time to go for it. While third parties often beat Apple on price, through its Education Store, you can currently get up to 11 per cent off, plus a free pair of AirPods 4 to listen to your study playlist. Running until Tuesday 21 October, this deal is only available for a limited time. Here's what you need to know. Who can buy the student AirPods deal? We're calling it a student deal, but really, it's available to more people than that. Here's who can get it: New and returning university students Parents of new and returning university students Teachers and other employees of any educational institution, which includes not just universities but also schools and colleges You'll need to go to the Education Store and sign up using Unidays. Parents will need to get their child to verify through Unidays before completing a purchase. Education workers can create a Unidays staff account. Upgrade to the AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation As part of this deal, you can choose to upgrade to the AirPods Pro 2, usually sold for £229, for an additional £50. For example, if you get a MacBook Air on the Education Store for £899, and you choose the AirPods Pro, you'll pay £949. Similarly, if minimising background noise is important to you, there's an option to upgrade to the AirPods 4, usually sold for £129, with active noise cancellation. This will cost an extra £50, unless you're getting an iMac in which case no extra charge will be added. Other accessories included in this deal AirPods aren't the only accessories included in this deal. If you wanted to, you could get an Apple keyboard, mouse, trackpad or Apple pencil pro as part of some of the bundle offers. You'll be asked which accessory you want to choose before you check out – just make sure you check the total at the end so you don't end up paying an extra fee by accident. Get a free pair of AirPods 4 with these Apple deals We've listed the products you can get a free pair of AirPods with below. Each model has different options available for storage, size and colour, but we've listed the lowest price you can get each one from under the deal. You can get an iPad Air, with a pair of AirPods 4 included, on Apple's Education store. This isn't the cheapest price we've seen for this model, as you can nab it for £417.89 on On Buy, but with the AirPods 4 included, Apple comes out on top here. The iPad Pro, which tech critic David Phelan called 'monsterously powerful and impossibly thin', is 11 per cent off on Apple's education store. Again, this price is beaten by On Buy, which is selling it for £747, but you won't get the AirPods 4 included. This tech icon is on sale for 11 per cent off on Apple's Education Store with AirPods 4 thrown in. Not bothered about the AirPods? You can get it without from Amazon for £849. You can save £100 on the latest MacBook Pro, and get a pair of AirPods thrown in when you buy it via Apple's Education store. At the time of writing, this is the lowest price for a new MacBook Pro from a reputable retailer. Though a £50 discount might not seem like much for a product this costly, this is the best price we've seen for an iMac at the moment – and that's without factoring in the AirPods 4, which you'll get bundled in.
