EPS frustrated by success of DMK govt's welfare projects; his defeat will begin from western TN: Stalin
M K Stalin Coimbatore: Chief minister M K Stalin said on Monday that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami was frustrated by the success of DMK govt's welfare programmes and that his defeat in the 2026 assembly election would begin from western Tamil Nadu. Stalin said EPS presumed himself to be on a par with late AIADMK leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, but the fact was his own partymen mock him, Stalin said at a welfare distribution event at Udumalpet in Tirupur district. Announcing a slew of projects for Tirupur district, Stalin said the DMK was implementing multiple development projects in western TN whereas the AIADMK had only scuttled projects that were brought by DMK in the past. 'I don't know what gives him the courage to campaign in this region. But I am certain of his defeat here,'' Stalin said. The failure streak would continue in the assembly elections too, he said. "I assure you that more projects and achievements have been made for the development of all sectors in the Western Region under our Dravidian model government than during the previous AIADMK regime. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If Your Ears Ring, Stop Sleeping Like This Immediately Derila Ergo Undo We will continue to do so," said Stalin. Stalin said EPS was getting frustrated at the success of DMK's welfare programmes like Ungaludan Stalin and Nalam Kaakkum Stalin. 'EPS hoped that after delivering a pathetic government, he can deceive people by lying to them during the campaign. But his hopes have been dashed by the success of our welfare programmes,'' Stalin said. Hence, he went to the court seeking to prevent the DMK govt from continuing with the welfare projects, Stalin said. 'The court had not only snubbed him by dismissing the case, but had also slapped a Rs 10 lakh penalty on former AIADMK minister C Ve Shanmugam for filing the case against the projects,'' he said. ''Isn't this shameful for you?'' he asked EPS. Further, the Union govt data too had validated TN's economic growth which again has come as a disappointment for EPS, Stalin said. It was because of these multiple `blows' that EPS got frustrated and was addressing him in a disrespectful manner, Stalin said. ``But I am not bothered about his disrespectful language. I respond to such remarks through my work,'' he said. Stalin made seven announcements for Tirupur district including the implementation of the next phase of the Parambikulam-Aliyar Irrigation Project and the Neeraru-Nallaru and Anaimalaiyar project. "We are taking steps to hold talks with the Kerala state government to implement it," said Stalin. Earlier, he unveiled the statues of former chief minister K Kamaraj, VK Palanisamy Gounder, C Subramaniam, and N Mahalingam in Pollachi, who were instrumental in implementing the Parambikulam Aliyar Project. He also inaugurated a memorial dedicated to workers who lost their lives during the construction of the Parambikulam–Aliyar Dam in Pollachi. AIADMK will face the worst rout in western Tamil Nadu: CM Stalin
The defeat of the AIADMK will be more pronounced in Tamil Nadu's western districts, where its general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami had launched the party's [Assembly] election campaign 'as a supposed stronghold', Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin said at Udumalpet in Tiruppur district on Monday (August 11, 2025). According to Mr. Stalin, since the DMK government has performed remarkably well in the western districts, the AIADMK will suffer its worst defeat in the region, akin to the drubbing it had received in the local body polls. While inaugurating completed projects, launching new ones, and disbursing financial benefits under government schemes in the region, Mr. Stalin listed the launch of the Athikadavu-Avinashi project as the first among the DMK government's achievements. He alleged that Mr. Palaniswami was under the 'delusion' that people thought of him on the lines of the late Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandranaan and Jayalalithaa. People cannot be deceived by 'speaking lies aloud', the Chief Minister said, adding: 'Mr. Palaniswami is imagining stepping into the shoes of M.G. Ramachandran. He ought to know what people talk about him once he leaves the campaign spot.' The revival of five road overbridge projects in Tiruppur to mitigate traffic snarls by the DMK government a decade after they were kept in cold storage by the AIADMK government was a case in point of Mr. Palaniswami's neglect of the western region, Mr. Stalin said. Speaking about certain 'disrespectful' remarks about him (Mr. Stalin) made by Mr. Palaniswami lately, the Chief Minister said he was unperturbed and would keep following the dictum 'talk less and work more'. It was due to the 'jealousy' triggered by the DMK's performance, and ratification of Tamil Nadu's economic growth by none other than the AIADMK's ally, the BJP, that Mr. Palaniswami had approached the courts against the naming of the 'Ungaludan Stalin' scheme after himself, Mr. Stalin said, emphasising that the rejection of the case by the Supreme Court was tantamount to a slap for Mr. Palaniswami. The directive to the petitioner for the payment of ₹10 lakh as costs to the State government ought to cause shame to the AIADMK, Mr. Stalin said. The DMK government has devised progressive schemes with utmost care and was committed to achieving new heights, he added.
