Amritsar: An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA on Sunday termed claims of Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa's son receiving threats as "completely false and fabricated".
Talking to media, Dera Baba Nanak MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa claimed that the statement was made to malign the image of the AAP govt.
"His son didn't receive any threat," said the MLA.
He claimed that the person who made an inappropriate comment on his son's post was arrested, and a police investigation revealed the family did not receive any threat calls. "This was confirmed by the SSP of Batala himself," he added.
Despite repeated attempts, Batala could SSP not be contacted for comment.

RSS leader for probe to find ‘real culprits' of Malegaon blast

1 2 3 Nagpur: Now, as all the accused in Malegaon blast have been acquitted, it is on the govt's probe agencies to investigate the truth and find out the real perpetrators, said national executive member of RSS, Suresh (Bhaiyyaji) Joshi, on Sunday. Joshi, former Sarkaryavaha (genereal secretary) of RSS, spoke with TOI on the sidelines of a function organised by Dharampeth Education Society. "It's a fact that the blast took place. So, an investigation has to take place to know who did it." Replying to a question, he confirmed that the acquitted persons were framed as part of a conspiracy. "Such conspiracies are not new, but it was finally proven by the court's verdict acquitting the accused," he said. While refusing to comment on recent allegations of accused being forced to name RSS leaders in the blast, Joshi said those who have made the statements may be speaking out of experience. The Society held a function to confer awards on Vansavi Seva Samiti and Kasturi Sanstha. The former, which is active in the Jamod Tehsil of Buldhana district, received the award for preventing religious conversions and bringing back tribals to the Hindu faith apart from other work. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Resmed AirSense 11 with flat 20% off ResMed Buy Now Undo Joshi said conversion is a deep-rooted problem in the country. "However, the RSS welcomes the recent proposal by the Kerala Council of Churches which has stood against forcible conversion. It is indeed encouraging to find some Christian bodies rising against conversion. The Sangh has been working on Ghar Wapsi to bring people back to their original faith. The efforts on preventing conversion are going well too," he said. Joshi said that neglect by a segment of society is also a driving force towards a change of faith, apart from poverty and lack of education. Earlier, a member of the Dharampeth Education Society, Kumarmukund Shastri, lauded the work by Vansavi Seva Samiti. Ganesh Nathani of the Seva Samiti said widespread conversions were happening among the tribals in the Jamod area for the last 40 years. "With Samiti's efforts, as many as 95% of the persons have come back to the Hindu faith," he said. "They were lured by offering healthcare and other help. However, another group silently worked on changing the tribals' food habits by even making them habitual to eating beef," Nathani told TOI. OPS-Nainar spat continues; TTV bats to bring him back

Chennai: The spat between state BJP president Nainar Nagenthran and former AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam continued on Sunday too, with the two denying each other's claims. While OPS showed messages he had sent to Nainar as proof of reaching out to him, the BJP leader said these were not enough. Even as the two leaders sparred, AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran urged the BJP's national and state leaders to bring OPS back to NDA. The day also saw OPS asking his supporters not to talk about alliances and warned of action if they violated. The fresh exchanges began with Nainar demanding proof for OPS's claim that he had attempted to reach out to the BJP leader seeking an appointment with PM Narendra Modi when he visited Tamil Nadu last month. "OPS did not contact me. In fact, it was I who contacted OPS the day before he met chief minister M K Stalin," Nainar said. Nainar said that though OPS levelled charges against him, he would not do so in return. Within hours, OPS showed reporters at Madurai airport the messages he had sent to Nainar from his mobile. Later in the day, when reporters met Nainar at Odanilai and asked him about the messages, the BJP leader said displaying such messages from his cellphone were not enough as proof of communication. Meanwhile, TTV Dhinakaran said BJP's Delhi leaders as well as those in TN should bring OPS back to the NDA. "OPS was with BJP even before I joined NDA. BJP leaders should take steps to bring him back," he said. He blamed unnamed leaders for forcing OPS's exit from NDA and expressed confidence OPS would not join DMK. Later in the day, OPS issued a statement, warning his supporters and cadres not to talk about alliances. Instead, he said they should campaign about problems faced by people because of DMK govt and hold public rallies to explain how AIADMK is crumbling. In a related development, senior AIADMK leader C Ponnaiyan alleged OPS had long maintained a "secret understanding" with DMK. NMC admin to renovate, repair key offices before local body elections

Nashik: Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) administration has allocated Rs6 crore for the renovation of the offices belonging to the mayor, leader of the opposition and leader of the House. This decision comes as a new elected body is expected to take charge by the end of Dec 2025. The renovation plans also include the mayoral residential bungalow, "Ramayan". These upgrades are being undertaken in anticipation of the upcoming civic polls, which are likely to be held later this year in Nov or Dec. The civic administration has already issued three separate tenders for these renovation projects, collectively estimated at Rs6 crore. The previous general body of the NMC completed its five-year term in March 2022, and since then the civic body has been operating under the administrative governance owing to the delay of over three years in conducting civic elections. The ward delimitation programme has already started and the new ward formations are likely to be declared by the first week of Oct this year. An NMC official, while talking to TOI, said they are planning to renovate the offices of the mayor, deputy mayor, leader of the opposition, leader of the house and group leaders. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo These offices are located at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan — headquarters of the NMC.
