James Harrison says Steelers could cut Aaron Rodgers midseason under one condition
Everyone has an opinion on what the Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers are capable of — but the legendary James Harrison might've just dropped the boldest prediction yet.
On a recent episode of the Nightcap podcast, Harrison argued that Rodgers could be released — under one condition: Pittsburgh starts losing.
"If [the Steelers] start losing and it's looking like they ain't gonna make above .500, I think it gets real ugly, real fast," Harrison said. "To the point where they may just be like, 'You know what, let's let this dude go midseason. For Aaron, let's just get him outta here and put one of these other quarterbacks in.' Mike [Tomlin] ain't going nowhere."
While midseason struggles leading to a major change under center aren't unheard of — releasing Rodgers seems extremely unlikely, especially if his mentorship of rookie Will Howard continues to show positive signs of growth.
Rodgers has been candid about his likely retirement after 2025 — but if Harrison's prediction comes to fruition, his career may not end on his terms after all.

Former star Alabama pitcher released by MLB team
After being designated for assignment by the organization a few days ago, former Alabama Crimson Tide pitcher Spencer Turnbull has been officially released by the Toronto Blue Jays, per the team's MLB transactions' page. Prior to his release, Turnbull had made only three appearances with the Blue Jays so far this season, one of which was a start. Over that sample size, which was 6.1 innings pitched, the right-hander owned a 1-1 record with a 7.11 ERA and a 4:4 K:BB ratio. The former Alabama right-hander also made five starts in the minor leagues this season with Toronto's organization where he owned a 7.13 ERA across 17.2 innings pitched. Looking back to Memphis for Steelers WR Calvin Austin III breakout season
When wide receiver Calvin Austin III was preparing for the 2022 NFL draft, it was his 4.32-second 40-yard dash that stole the headlines. But when the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Austin in the fourth round, they did it because he proved to be a complete player, not just a deep threat. Now it is 2025 and Austin is coming off of his best year as a pro, is fully healthy and eyeing a spot in the starting lineup, we look back to his final two seasons at Memphis to get an idea of what Pittsburgh is hoping for should Austin be in the starting lineup with DK Metcalf. Advertisement Austin caught 137 passes for 2,002 yards and 20 total touchdowns in his final two seasons. The bulk of the memphis offense ran through Austin and every opposing defense knew he was the top target and they couldn't slow him down.
