One was Peter Aubry, 48, who will work with Edmonton's goaltenders. He was Mercyhurst's primary netminder from 1998-2002 before he experienced a professional career with North American and European franchises over the rest of that decade.
The Edmonton Oilers hired former Mercyhurst University goaltender Peter Aubry as their goalie coach on July 14.
Aubry returned to pro hockey employment after a two-season tenure as associate coach for the University of Nebraska-Omaha men's hockey program. Before that, the Windsor, Ontario, native was the developmental goalie coach for the Chicago Blackhawks' minor league affiliates.
Paul McFarland and Conor Allen were the Oilers' other additions to their coaching staff.
Aubry will be tasked with improving the position perceived as the prime reason Edmonton lost the second of the last two Stanley Cup finals to the Florida Panthers. Stuart Skinner, the regular starter this past season, and Calvin Pickard are the current goalies on its offseason roster.

Oilers lose other Otter
Although McDavid will be back with the 2025-26 Oilers, they lost another former Otter named Connor to free agency on July 1.
Multiple media outlets reported Connor Brown, a forward for Erie's Ontario Hockey League franchise from 2011-14, signed a four-year, $12-million contract with the New Jersey Devils. They'll be the fifth NHL stop since the Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick joined them during their 2015-16 season.
Brown, 31, totaled 17 goals and 25 assists over his two regular seasons for the Oilers. He added seven goals and eight assists over their last two playoff runs.

Are the Knicks still a move away?
Yahoo Sports senior NBA analyst Kevin O'Connor is joined by ESPN's Bobby Marks to discuss if New York still needs to make another addition to its roster to help new head coach Mike Brown get his team over the hump this season. Hear the full conversation on 'The Kevin O'Connor Show' and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript You mentioned the Knicks earlier. They're one of the teams that's trying to take that next step. They add Gerhaw Yelle, they add Jordan Clarkson. And other than that, pretty much the same roster just with a new head coach. Are they still one move away or are they already there as a contender? I think they're still another move away with their bench. When you bring your starting five and your two best reserves in, um, in Robinson and Deuce, like, you've already, you already have a head start compared to some of these other teams. It is such a rarity when you go to an Eastern Conference Finals and you fire your head coach and you had a little bit, you kind of knew who they were. And now you have Mike Brown coming in and no offense in Sacramento, and this isn't even like Cleveland back in 2008 or 2009. Uh, and I think he's a really good coach, but basically trying to instill, you know, who, what are they gonna be? Are they going to be the Sacramento team from three years ago, or they're going to be that Cleveland team, that was really good defensively when LeBron was around? Like, who are you going to, who are you gonna be? And I think that's gonna be probably the biggest unknown as far as, you know, maybe not outside of the roster. Close

Eligibility of Wisconsin's Nyzier Fourqurean in question after appeals court reverses injunction
MADISON, Wisc. (AP) — Wisconsin cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean's status for this coming season is now unclear after a federal appeals court overturned a preliminary injunction that granted him another year of NCAA eligibility. Seventh Circuit judges ruled in a 2-1 decision rendered Wednesday to reverse the ruling by a lower court, after the NCAA appealed. Fourqurean, a fifth-year senior, had argued that his first two college seasons at Division II Grand Valley State should not count toward his eligibility. Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia is expected to play again after winning his court case last year on the grounds that his two seasons at a junior college do not count. The NCAA is appealing that decision but granted a blanket waiver that will allow Pavia and other athletes who played at non-NCAA Division I schools prior to enrollment an extra year of eligibility if they were going to exhaust their eligibility this year. The path forward for Fourqurean, a projected starter, is less clear with Wisconsin's season opener against Miami (Ohio) on Aug. 28 just over six weeks away. Messages sent to attorneys listed as his representatives in court documents, as well as spokespeople for Wisconsin football, were not immediately returned. Fourqurean testified during a U.S. District Court hearing in February that he would make 'hundreds of thousands of dollars' in name, image and likeness compensation if he were to play this season. After judge William Conley granted him the preliminary injunction, Fourqurean pulled out of NFL draft consideration and took part in spring practices. ___ AP sports:
