Sonam, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and three other accomplices - Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput - were arrested in connection with the a student from Ghazipur, provided a detailed account of her encounter with Sonam on the night of June 8. "I met Sonam at Varanasi Cantt station," she said. "She had her face covered with a dupatta and was with two men, one of whom had a white cloth wrapped around his face." Yadav, who was heading home, said that Sonam had asked her if any bus went to Gorakhpur or Ghazipur. Yadav directed Sonam to the bus stand.
